THE CULTURE OF THE LAND ACCORDING TO EINAUDI
The Poderi Luigi Einaudi winery was founded in Dogliani in 1897 by Luigi Einaudi, whose name the estate bears.
In 1948, he became the first democratically elected President of the Italian Republic.
Since its inception, the estate has remained a driving force in the great Piedmontese winemaking tradition.
Today, the property extends across 150 hectares, of which 75 are vineyards.
The vineyards stretch diagonally across the Langhe, beginning in Dogliani – the historic heart of the estate –and reaching Neive, passing through Novello, Barolo, Monforte d’Alba, Castiglione Falletto, and Verduno.
Generation after generation, through careful and deliberate acquisitions, Poderi Luigi Einaudi has strengthened its bond with the land, a connection that remains the true soul of the estate.
The culture of the land, envisioned by the Founder, continues to be expressed today through rigor, foresight, elegance, and refinement in every wine. It also lives on through a deep emotional rootedness that makes Poderi far more than a business.

FROM DOGLIANI TO BAROLO
After establishing himself on the hills of San Giacomo, Luigi Einaudi acquired 8 hectares in the hamlet of San Luigi, the most renowned Dolcetto-producing sub-zone on the slopes of Dogliani.
Following decades of study, dedication, and refinement of this traditional grape, which he was the first to bottle and promote beyond local borders, Luigi Einaudi turned his attention to Nebbiolo. He purchased vineyards in prestigious terroirs in Neive and Barolo. It was his descendants, heirs to his winemaking vision, who later expanded production with Barolo DOCG.
Today, the 13 estates that form Poderi Luigi Einaudi are located among the Crus historically recognized as the finest in the Langhe, prized for their exposure, position, and soil quality.

Our most creative Barolo is the result of blending different parcels. ‘Ludo’ draws inspiration from the diminutive names of members of the Einaudi family and evokes the desire to play down, like a game of dice, the exclusivity associated with Barolo.
