A Fox News correspondent recently visited the Indian River Colony Club (IRCC) in Viera.

On Wednesday, Feb. 6, Todd Piro of the Fox News segment “Fox & Friends” came to Viera to discuss with local residents the State of the Union address by President Donald Trump, which aired the night before on Feb. 5. “I thought it was the best speech he’s done,” Anne Allison said. “I (particularly) like the way Trump is bringing the military back,” added Nancy Carrol. “For so many years, it’s been decimated. But, in the last two years, it’s been given money to bring it back, to bring it back in order.”

The show was a segment of “Fox & Friends” called “Breakfast with Friends,” where Fox News correspondents are sent around the country to interview local communities and discuss current affairs. During his State of the Union address, Trump spoke about various issues and plans for the United States in the near future. These statements also included the announcement that the United States will withdraw from the nuclear arms treaty with Russia, which was established in 1987.

At the Indian River Colony Club, however, discussions were more focused on some of the more pressing matters for Brevard County seniors. “I think the economy is very important (to Brevard),” IRCC resident Dale Bottom said. “And I really think that we do need an improved immigration program. We don’t have a big problem here because we have a wall, but there are lots of people coming into this country who shouldn’t be here. There are plenty of ways to come here legally, if they go through the process to do it.” “Fox & Friends” and “Breakfast with Friends” is broadcast at 6 a.m. daily on Fox News.
