WELCOME TO WHAT CAN BE…WITH AI

Seems you can’t turn on the television or pick up a newspaper these days without hearing about artificial intelligence, or AI. There’s a good reason for that; AI is rapidly becoming part of our world. In this issue, you’ll learn how AI is helping enhance and simplify daily life, especially for older adults. You’ll also get a peek at what this technology may hold for the future.

THE AI REVOLUTION: A FUTURE FILLED WITH POSSIBILITIES.

As we go through life, we occasionally find ourselves in the midst of a social shift of seismic proportions. This is one of those times. Artificial intelligence isn’t coming— it’s already here, woven into the fabric of our everyday lives. And whether you’re 25 or 85, chances are AI has already made your day a little easier, even if you’ve yet to realize it.

For older adults, AI is opening new doors to independence. Picture this: a grandmother using her voice to videocall her grandson across the country, or a smart device that gently reminds you when it’s time for medication. No complicated buttons, no confusing menus.

If you think AI is designed for younger generations only, think again. It’s helping all of us glide through our daily lives. It suggests movies we’ll love, finds the

fastest route home, and helps doctors spot health issues earlier than ever before. Perhaps most impressive is that it learns what matters to you.

We’re still in the early stages of understanding what AI can do. Over the next few years, expect it to feel less like technology and more like a helpful companion that proactively anticipates your needs, recognizes how you’re feeling, and remembers your goals and preferences.

Artificial intelligence isn’t about replacing human relationships. It’s about supporting them, meeting you where you are, and helping your everyday life be even more fulfilling.

THE I.T. EXPERT DOWN THE HALL.

When Blue Skies of Texas decided to adopt the Uniguest app in 2022, Jan O. was the natural choice to partner with for resident input and support.

An Army veteran with a degree in business and information systems, Jan helped shape what information would appear in the app—and how residents would use it.

Today, she leads monthly classes, showing neighbors how to get the most out of the app. Residents can view community updates, sign up for activities, search the directory and send messages, check daily menus, make dinner reservations, request home repairs, and more—all from their smartphones.

“I tell them it’s like a library,” Jan says, “there’s all kinds of information in there, you just have to explore.”

BLUE SKIES PROFILES

Since joining the Blue Skies of Texas sta two and a half years ago, Erika Provencher has fully embraced our community’s resident-first culture of working purposefully and rising to challenges. She and her team are using new technologies to be more proactive, transparent, and responsive with the goal of improving the daily quality of life for all Blue Skies residents.

What do you like most about daily life at Blue Skies?

What I enjoy most is being part of a team that shares the same purpose—making life better for our residents and ensuring our campuses remain proactive, safe, and forward-thinking. There’s something incredibly rewarding about working alongside people whose hearts are truly centered on putting residents first.

What’s your idea of perfect happiness?

My idea of perfect happiness is knowing our residents are truly cared for, not just in words, but in the environment they live in every day.

Which living person do you most admire?

There isn’t one specific person. What I truly admire is a way of life—being driven. I have deep respect for people who are focused, disciplined, and continually striving to improve themselves and the world around them.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

My children. I have two daughters who are growing into incredibly talented and driven young women. Watching them find their own paths has been the most rewarding experience of my life.

How are you and your team using new technologies to improve the quality of life for Blue Skies residents?

With the rollout of Equips, our Maintenance Department is now able to manage work orders more e ciently by prioritizing requests and giving technicians real-time access to the information they need. For residents, that means faster service and fewer disruptions.

How do you think AI will improve the quality of life for Blue Skies residents in the future? I believe AI will help us analyze maintenance trends, infrastructure data, and operational patterns to predict issues before they happen. Instead of simply responding to problems, we’ll be able to anticipate them and act early.

focusing on what matters most: creating an environment where residents feel confident

For me, the goal of AI isn’t to replace the human element; it’s to strengthen it. AI will allow our team to spend less time on administrative tasks and more time and cared for.
