Report of Giving 2015 - 2016

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I would like to thank you all for your continued support of Blue Ridge School. After several years leading the School Advancement Committee I’ve had the opportunity to see first hand the hard work and outstanding results attained by the BRS managment team. I am deeply honored to follow Dickie Brawley ’68 as your Chairman of the Board and am pleased to report that the School is on solid footing.

The purpose of this report is to express our gratitude and to celebrate the nearly 1,000 people who played a leading role in making 2015/16 a very successful year for BRS. Overall, the team secured more than $2.3M in new commitments – one of the best overall performances in BRS history and the third year in the last five of $2M or more.

Some of the highlights of the incredible work being done by the team: The Baron Athletic Complex is complete! This is the largest capital project in the School’s history – $2.7 million – delivered on time and on budget. The new facilities are already proving to be a boon to our efforts in recruiting, and an inspiration to our teams as evidenced by our exceeding our enrollment target this fall and subsequently bringing home the State Championship in Football.

Annual Fund – this essential element to the School’s health has remained steady. The team consistently delivers $700,000 or more each year for nearly a decade and counting.

Endowment – thanks to growing donor support and careful management by our finance team, our endowment is now more than $16M in total – and climbing! The ultimate goal is $25M by 2020, a figure that would help ensure our ability to attract and retain an outstanding team, support fine programming and maintain our beautiful campus.

Our future is bright. The Board of Trustees is focused on supporting this world-class team with the tools needed to position itself as a market leader in boys’ education. The 2020 Strategic Plan is our guide to achieving growth and long-term sustainability. We have clearly defined ourselves to a world marketplace.

The faculty, staff and administrative teams from top to bottom are on the same page and working as one to do what is best for the boys who they serve.

We remain steadfast in our commitment to all-boys, all boarding designed for mission-appropriate boys.
