The Blue Ridge Parkway offers eight tranquil and scenic campgrounds to enhance your journey along America’s favorite drive. They do not offer full hook-ups, but they do come equipped with restrooms, drinking water, picnic tables and grills, and most can accommodate sizeable recreational vehicles.

CAMPING Blue Ridge Parkway

Be sure to ask about Ranger talks and campfire programs that are given on weekends and occasionally during the week. Campsites also offer ready access to parts of the Parkway’s 350 miles of hiking trails for travelers who want to explore on foot, but keep in mind that campgrounds are at elevations of more than 2500 feet and dressing in layers is suggested all year.

Asheville’s Bear Creek RV Park & Campground 81 South Bear Creek Road, Asheville, NC 28806

Campgrounds are open May through October. First come, first-served sites are available at all Parkway campgrounds. Reservations may be made for any campground except Crabtree Falls by visiting www.recreation.gov or calling tollfree (877) 444-6777. As a general rule, demand is higher on weekends and holidays.

Most tunnels provide plenty of clearance, although several near Cherokee have a minimum height of less than 12 feet at the road’s edge, and drivers of especially tall vehicles should consider an alternate route.
