WHERE DO RAINBOW WORMS COME FROM? We’ve got an incredible production team here, made up of individuals with and without disabilities. For over 25 years, they’ve been putting the finishing touches on products and packaging, and doing art projects on the side. When we found a scrap paper full of paint strokes in the office this spring, an idea wriggled into the light: We’ve got this great team of inspired artists working with products. They could really MAKE some cool products, too. Resident art instructor, Caitlyn Tucker, set to work gathering leftover cardboard from shipping pallets, and supplying the team with every color of the rainbow. Pretty soon the team had painted thousands of Rainbow Worm Families, and we were packing them into every order that went out the door. It’s so cool to see each artist’s unique take on the same concept. Caitlyn points out how Meaghan’s dabbing technique lends a feathered texture, how Jena’s thin worms always look like they’re swimming, and Casey’s are so thick and thorough they take three days to dry. It’s cooler still that so many customers have told us this is their favorite product we’ve made in our 31 years. I mean, look at them. We really can’t disagree.
