his year, the BluePrints staff has decided to make all of our issues themed. I am excited to introduce to you The Ace Edition. This issue features everything “Aces” from our staff’s opinions on the new Ace logo, to the best sports teams in Ace history.

You’ll read about the (Photo courtesy of Jacquelyn history of the Ace and Arora Photography) learn how to ace tests, interviews, picnics, selfies etc.

You’ll also be subject to ace puns like “Make Your Heart R{ACE}” and “Best Pl{aces}for a date.”

We’ll let you know what movies and TV shows to watch to prepare for the Halloween season and show you some of the many variations of the Ace. BY JOSIE DECARO (‘19). KEEGAN VAN METER (‘19), CAMERON CROUCH (‘19), RILEY VRADENBURG (‘18), AND HANNAH MUSICK (‘18) o ACE a task means to excel at a particular activity. The BluePrints staff has located all of the masters in our school of 25 different situations you may want to ACE. If one of these tasks may not be one of your strong points, we hope that we can help.

The following information will provide you with tips and tricks on ways to perfect a task. The tips span from ways to become healthier, to build a better a relationship or even to prepare for a special event. We will provide you with insight from other individuals on how to ACE different tasks and, hopefully, to help you prepare to ACE life in general.

A workout

Depending upon your maximum strength and endurance, it is important that you do not push your body too hard. Work out the same muscles each day, this may led to pulling, tearing and even rupturing a muscle. “Always make sure you’re stretched out and do some quick movements to get your body warmed up,” Tommy Wolfe suggests. In order to maximize muscle growth and performance, hydration and nutrition plays a major role. Hydration will also affect your performance and energy level. Lastly, eat or drink lots of vitamins, minerals and protein in order for your body to become stronger and achieve that perfect workout body.

A meal

It is important to consume the proper amount of protein, carbohydrates, and fats. This is essential to building muscle, and allowing your body to recover. The proper meal can include some type of protein like chicken, some type of carbohydrate, like pasta, and a fat similar to nuts. There also must be the perfect drink. “Drink a jug of chocolate milk,” suggests health teacher Karly Worrall.

Being a girlfriend

Being the perfect girlfriend never seems to be as easy as it seems. Boys are always busy, doing a sport or wanting to hangout with friends, so being a great girlfriend comes with great challenge. The best girlfriends are ones that “push you to better yourself,” senior Monique Jardell says.

The perfect gift Figuring out exactly what the person likes, their favorite color or food always is a challenge. Many people believe a great gift has to be expensive, however this is not always the case. The best way to give someone a truly meaningful gift is to give a “present that comes from the heart,” junior Colin Freeman said. Whether the person likes it or not, and wheter or not it is expensive, if it comes from the heart it will always have sentimental value.

An email

Emailing teachers can be difficult thing in a high schoolers world. Figuring out how to make your point clear, yet remaining respectable can be difficult. However as long as you “don’t over do the message you want to portray, and stay on the teacher’s good side, it can be easy,” senior Lexi Marelli said.

A compliment Many people, for whatever reason, cannot take a compliment. Here is a senior paving the way on how to do so. “I’d be like ‘wow thank you so much you’re too sweet’ and then give a nice smile and then possibly compliment them back on something to like repay the favor. If someone compliments me on an article of clothing or shoes I always say ‘thank you’ and then tell them where I got them, unless what I’m wearing doesn’t belong to me, in which case I’ll say ‘wow thanks! It’s my mom’s’ or something and give a nice chuckle. If someone compliments me on my hair I usually use the one-liner ‘thanks I brushed it’ and then give another nice chuckle. I love receiving compliments no matter what they’re about because it shows that someone else took the time to think about you which is very considerate unless it’s a backhanded compliment. I don’t like receiving those,” Ava Kunar explains.

Balancing your life

Balancing your academic and social life is they key to success in and out of school. Writing out a schedule is an awesome way to create some kind of time management. School should always come first, so set aside time in your schedule to finish assignments before doing activities outside of school that are only for fun according to Mya Morris. Doing tasks in between homework assignments is another productive way to have it all. For example, a student might do homework for an hour, go to dinner with friends, then finish tasks when she returns home. Developing time management skills is crucial to future success.

Saving money

When you decide to save money, it is important that you evaluate how much money you’re spending now and what you’re spending money on. According to Lexi Marelli,who saves almost all of her money, it is important to set goals to eliminate or reduce your purchases. Decide to set aside a set amount of money per month into a savings only stash or account. Do not touch this money, and watch as it accumulates.

Social media

As years and years progress the usage of social media expands.

Whether it be Instagram, Facebook or VSCO. Social media is all about expressing yourself.

Keirston Maybury, a frequent social media user, gives and interesting tip,“You need an interesting theme going, and don’t post to many selfies because then it looks like you’re in love with yourself,” she said. By using the same colors and tones throughout your feed, you can achieve a blend together of beautiful colors to create that aesthetic look you are going for. Posting pictures of unique things such as art, landscapes, traveling, animals and events with friends is a good way to rack up those likes.

An interview

In order to ace an interview, prepare yourself and make sure you’re knowledgeable on any topic that could be brought up during an interview for any given job. Attire and appearance are a minor detail that could play a crucial role in whether or not you’re hired.

Make sure to always be prepared and to dress in a modest and professional manner when headed to a job interview.

The perfect selfie

To nail a perfect selfie, it starts with the lighting. If the lighting isn’t perfect, you are not going to be able to bring out the most flawless look of yourself. The lighting should be very bright with a neutral toned background. Flash should be on to enhance quality of the photo. Finally, hold your phone at an angle that will display your face in the way that you feel makes you look the best. Here is what an avid selfie-taker had to say about the perfect selfie: “If you have good lighting, good angles and a neutral background, then you are going to have great results,” junior Erin Dilger said.

A tough test

To ace a test, studying is key. If you don’t study for a test, that is like walking into a game for a sport you have never seen or played before. According to senior Grace Petryk, studying and sleeping well the night before is the perfect combination to ace a test. Finding a study method that works for you is something that every high school student needs to do, as it will be a crucial factor of your future when it comes to college or your career.

Finding a perfect book

There are many types of genres to choose from such as comedy, romance, drama, horror or sci-fi. Ally McDonald who enjoys sitting down and reading a good book gives some advice,”You really need to sit down and read that book for a long time in order to really enjoy it,” she said. Always read a brief summary of the book of choice, which is located on the back cover of the book or the inside front cover. If you have any interest, read the first five pages to see if it is to your reading level. If there is no interest in the book whatsoever, move on and keep looking; there are millions of others to chose from.

A job

Acing a job requires great enthusiasm, respect and pride in the job you are doing. Whether the job is your favorite thing to do, or you hate it, you must show great enthusiasm and respect all customers. “Always remember the golden rule,” Tierra Cramer reminds us.

This will keep things running smooth within the working world. This will also make you more successful within the job, which in return moves you higher up the business.

An essay

Being able to ace an essay can be the determining factor between making it into a college, or not. Acing an essay includes a great thesis; this will lead to a great essay. Having good evidence to incorporate into the essay, with a good analysis of the evidence will lead to an outstanding essay. To review the essay you must view “the little things, such as grammar and punctuation,” senior Bob Compton adds.

Being A boyfriend

The perfect boyfriend is tough to find for girls now-a-days. If they don’t give you the world, then they aren’t worth it.

“Someone that can make you laugh, and show compassion for other people. The true MVP brings you chocolate,” teacher Karly Worrall said. Chocolate is the key to making a girl happy.

Pre-game prep

It is best to eat a well balanced meal with lots of carbs to get your energy fuel in. Do lots of pre-game stretches to make sure you are ready for the game. “Do not sleep all day.

Stay active and keep moving throughout the day to be ready,” said Alexie Mcfarland.

There are so many different things you can do to be ready for your particular sport along with these tips.

A picnic

Planning a perfect picnic does not require tons of effort and time.

According to junior Erin Shoemaker, all it takes is “good food, sunny day, and some apple juice. It hits the spot.”

Perfect weekend

Perfecting a weekend starts with getting all of your school work finished so you won’t have to worry about it during the weekend. Some people struggle with this, or they just have a lot of homework overall. A tip to this is to “finish all your homework before Sunday at 2 AM because that’s super rare,” junior Georgia Bain said, in a sad tone. You should always leave yourself with something to do on the weekend, or make plans the week prior to the weekend. This will keep you from ever getting bored on your free days.

A date

To ace a date you must get dressed up, have a plan before you head out and make sure both agree. Make your date feels special no matter what you do. “Maybe planning a cute picnic or even going to dinner and a movie can be super fun,” said Alex Rosenburg

How to make friends

Making friends can be very tough, but be yourself and throw yourself out there. A friend making expert suggests that you should “meet people through activities... it is harder to find friends the older you get, so activities leave a great opportunity to do so,” teacher Joe Dowling said.

An outfit

The perfect outfit really depends on your sense of style and what you think makes you feel good about yourself. Find something you love and wear it with confidence, whether it is a sparkly shirt, leopard skirt or the plaid shoes you have always wanted to wear.

“The perfect outfit is whatever makes you happy,” said Lexi Marelli.

Being on time

If you have trouble getting to school on time, try putting out your clothes before, making your lunch ahead of time, or even doing both the night before to add more time to your mornings. “If you like to shower in the morning it’s best to get up a little earlier so you still have enough time in the morning,” said Sam Mckee.

Concert prep

Avoid “rushing yourself while getting ready, you should get there on time,” Junior Lauren Newkirk says. If you have purchased a seat instead of General Admission, you can dress however you would like.

But if you are in the General Admission section, you should wear clothes that you are comfortable in,” because you will be close toother people.

A dance proposal

Whether proposing to a girlfriend, boyfriend or just a friend, it is important to include something that somewhat sparks an interest in the person you are asking. Acquire uniqueness to the way you are asking them. To achieve this use beautiful objects or colors put together to create to word prom, homecoming or hoco.

Along with a sign make sure to include a gift that they can keep such as flowers, food, a stuffed animal, jewelry, clothes and many more. The element of surprise is very important. Make sure to tell very few people where and when it is taking place, and always, ALWAYS make sure the receiver is well put together and you are not catching them at a bad time. The Issue: Did we need to repl{ace} the Ace?

BY RILEY VRADENBURG (‘18) he district will be releasing a redesigned and district-wide Ace, along with the new logo and mission statement.

“This process began as a by-product of the re-branding process that resulted in the new mission of Learning for Life,” Superintendent Jeff Brown said. “As we started to engage in that conversation it became clear that we had a strong brand in the Ace, but the design of the Ace varied significantly-- more than 200 versions throughout the district.”

The board had previously budgeted money for this costly process this past school year. According to Brown, Studio Freight was able to significantly discount the work they did due to the fact that it was for a school.

By hiring Studio Freight--he same company that helped to re-imagine The Broadway Pub--the new Ace design was underway towards the end of the last school year.

“The contract was for $5,000,” Brown said. “The Board and Administration budgeted for this work to be completed in the 2016-1207 budget.”

The new Ace will slowly be incorporated to all of the school’s platforms.

he news of an implementation of a redesigned, central Ace has caused quite a stir in the halls of the high school, as well as on social media. The BluePrints staff overall is unopposed to the concept of the new Ace. The staff likes the design, is not opposed to having one logo and understands the necessity of having a clear, central brand in today’s technology-run world. The new Ace is appropriately similar enough to old version of the Ace, while still being completely new.

However, the staff believes this project could have been far cheaper and could have included more community, and specifically student, input. An art student would have been more than capable to tackle this project, allowing for more student involvement and input into the design, and would have been a more cost efficient candidate for the job. However, the staff does not blame the school for lack of community input.

The design was debated at a public school board meeting and lack of community involvement in the new Ace design was a fault of students for not regularly attending board meetings and being actively involved in all aspects of school decisions.

There was no student representation at the public board meetings. During this meeting, the project involving the new Ace was approved, and students could have expressed their opinions on the subject and possibly changed the decision, if some had attended. Going forward, students need to be more active in school affairs instead of complaining after the decision has been made.

Though the BluePrints staff might not completely agree with the means of acquiring the design, we are still happy to be a part of such a great school and are looking forward to implementing the new Ace into our brand.

The general festivities and events are things I look forward to and always enjoy participating in. I also really love how there are lots of clubs and sports offered here at the school of which many I have joined. I also feel really lucky to have the freedom to advocate for my own beliefs within the school. Overall, I’m really proud to say that I have a place like Granville to come home to.”

Throughout all the years, there has been a strong sense of respect for the town. Everyone is so involved in all the activities, from Football Friday Nights to showing support for community events. GRANT FOSTER (‘18) “I’m proud to be an Ace because it’s such a small, tight knit town. I’ve gotten a great education here at Granville and I have been given the opportunity to be a part of many school clubs, sports and activities.

I really love how everyone here knows each other and are so friendly and involved with one another. I’m really happy to say I belong in Granville.”

RACHEL LILLY (‘18) “I’m proud to be an Ace because of the people. I have met some of the most interesting people from Granville. From teachers to students, this town is full of amazing individuals. I moved here during elementary and was immediately welcomed. Everyone has created lifelong connections, which can be said for all of the student body. Granville is a school where classes are friends, not only specific people. It is a super special experience to grow up in a small town like Granville.”

GABRIELLA SCHNAIDT (‘18) “I’m proud to be an Ace because it is such a close knit community that always encourages each other, whether it’s students or teachers we all want the same thing: to excel in the areas we are passionate about.

For instance, when I lost my dad, a ton of students and staff showed up at his celebration of life. Mrs. Sharp even talked about my father. This helps show how, through the years, the teachers really develop relationships with us and I think that is key to an educational environment.”

Ace of the bases

‘15 softball team tops list of best teams in Ace history

G

BY ELIJAH SMITH (‘18) ranville sports teams have exploded since the year 2000, winning four athletic state championships total.

Although tough to decide, the BluePrints staff decided that the girls’ softball team is the best team since the year 2000.

Their season did not start off the way they wanted, and Coach Rae Stuart needed the girls to bond. With the combination of inexperienced freshman as well as talented seniors, the team needed to play together.

“We sucked the first half of the year,” senior Halle Garman recalled. “Our coach divided us into groups and sent us on a scavenger hunt around Granville, and we grew really close as a team.

We started to play a lot better after that.”

They finished out the season a lot stronger than they started, with a record of 28-6. Senior Abby Barker was the leader of the team. A four-year varsity player, she had been down this road before, and this was her year to win.

“Abby Barker was the foundation in leadership behind the team success,” Stuart said. “Her talent circle was far beyond anything many of us (coaches) had ever witnessed.”

“Looking up to Abby and seeing how badly she wanted to win, made us play that much harder,” Garman said. “She worked so insanely hard that year that we all had no choice but to keep up with her intensity.”

The team also had a group of very talented young freshmen.

Halle Garman, Rose Sawyers and Abby Skerbetz all played significant roles on the team.

“Halle Garmen stepped up as the starting catcher and played very well,” Stuart said. “Abby Skerbetz was another freshman who had a lot of talent and made big plays, as well as Rose Sawyers who had tremendous speed as well as a incredible arm.”

5. 2012 Boys’ Cross Country This team ran all the way to the regional finals before losing in the regional race.

6. 2010 Girls’ Volley Ball The Lady Aces went to the regionals, then faced a tough loss before making to the states.

7. 2004 Boys’ Lacrosse The lacrosse team had a tremendous season before losing in the state semi-finals playoffs.

8. 2008 Football Led by stud quarterback Cory Becher, the Aces went 8-2 and had a tough loss (2421) to Dover in the first round of the playoffs.

The team had made it through the first rounds of the tournament and only one team stood in their way of winning the state title. They faced the Lakewood Lancers in the final game. As fellow LCL members, the Lancers had beaten the Blue Aces twice during their regular season match-ups. The Aces were ready to prove themselves.

“We were all so jacked up for that game,” Garman said. “Just thinking about it now makes me want to go and play.”

The team was determined not to let the Lancers strike down their championship run. Barker led the girls, but it was plays that underclassmen made that solidified the win for the Aces.

“I think we had some exceptional hitters as well as a very talented defense that would back up the pitcher,” Athletic Director Kevin Jarett said.

After a pretty evenly matched defensive showdown the Aces defeated Lakewood 2-1, winning their first state championship in school history.

The team had incredible talent. Barker led the league in almost every category and was named All-Ohio and LCL AllLeague Player of the Year. Senior Shelby Sprouse was also named First Team all LCL and first team All District. Senior Maddy Richardson was named LCL Honorable Mention. Junior Sophia Elhers was second team All District and special mention All Metro. Sawyers also earned Second Team All-District as well as special mention All-Metro honors.

“They viewed themselves as a team versus individuals,” Stuart said. “The team motto was ‘Talent wins games, teamwork wins championships.’ They realized this and came together as one team and that is what made them so special.”

9. 2008 Boys’ Basketball Led by crafty point guard, Miles Clark, the boys lost to Bishop Watterson in the district championship.

10. 2017 Competition Cheer Rachel Shoemaker and Ava Kunar led the girls to win the state competition, making them the first cheer team to ever do so.

History of the Ace

BY EMMA NAILLE (‘18) hough today Granville High School is referred to as the Aces, the school did not start out with this mascot.

Until 1927, the school was simply called “The Blue and White.” But in 1927, according to a compilation of the history of the Ace left to teachers by retired English teacher Beth Gwynn, senior and sports editor of the school newspaper and yearbook, Milton Fitch, decided that Granville needed a symbol and nickname. That year, the football and basketball teams had “unprecedented” seasons. According to the school website, both teams won more games than ever before in Granville’s history. The Fall Sports Program says that because the ace represents expertise and skill, “and is the highest card in most card games,” Fitch choose to refer to the teams as the “Blue Aces” in his sports columns.

In the 1927 Blue and White yearbook Fitch wrote: “Granville High’s athletic season of ‘26-’27 has made for itself a reputation hard for any class of the future to repeat. Harvey Williams’ Blue Ace Gridders with six straight wins won the Central District Championship for Class B High School Football. E.D. Smith’s Blue Ace Floor Tournament, gave a good account of themselves in the District Tourney where they were repulsed by Hyatts and Lady Luck in the semi-finals.”

Recently, the district decided to bring in Studio Freights which rebranded the Ace and came up with a brand new ace logo to replace the many variations of the Ace throughout the district.

Athletic Director Kevin Jarrett said that the girls’ basketball team will be the first team to have the new Ace on their uniform.

“As we start here, I think this year, our girls’ basketball team, looks like, as they do some ordering and come in,” Jarrett said.

“I’ve talked to Coach Steele have put the new ace to go on their uniform. They may be the first one out of the gate to do that.”

However, it may take a few years before all athletic teams have the new ace logo.

“Obviously, we are not going to buy everybody all brand new uniforms this year. We’ll phase them in a little bit as we do our rotation,” Jarrett said. “It could be another four or five years before everybody gets those.”

Though the spade previously used for the uniforms was trademarked with the National Federation of High School Sports, Jarrett said there was not a set logo every team was required to use.

“When I came in, I didn’t know and I’ve never said everybody ought to use this one,” Jarrett said. “They could have said ‘What are you talking about that’s not the one’ so we kind of just let things go as they did and the district decided to rebrand.”

ranville might be a small town, but it has an abundance of places that are enjoyed by almost everyone. A lot of students go to Columbus for dates and fun, but there are many places right here in Granville to go on dates.

The Granville Inn The Granville Inn’s magical grand opening was in June of 1924, attended by over five thousand guests, according to the inn’s website. This event included a lot of dancing while the in house orchestra played.

Years later, the Granville Inn is perfect for lunch or dinner dates. Many weddings and events are held here because of the luscious greenery and exquisite architecture and design. It is also perfect for picture-taking for any event such as Prom, Homecoming or a wedding.

“It is such a beautiful, nice place to go and it is really neat having a fancy restaurant downtown,” senior Ava Kunar said.

The Granville Inn could be the best place for a date with your significant other because it is a formal setting and many students would suggest this venue for a more fancy event.

The Buxton Inn Looking for some mystery? The Buxton Inn is the perfect place for a thrilling dinner date. It was established as the Buxton Inn in 1812 by the New England settlers, according to the website. Eat dinner in the lavish structure that was used for a ballroom, court house and dining rooms. Afterwards, listen to the popular ghost stories that still linger throughout the exclusive Inn. “My family has always gone to the Buxton Inn for dinner ever since I was little,” senior Daniel Mestemaker said. “The haunted stories make visiting the inn significantly more fun.”

The stories make going to dinner there so much more fun for his family. The most popular ghost stories include the black cat, the Lady in Blue, and many haunted rooms including the cellar.

This community staple adds so much character to the old town of Granville.

The Buxton Inn would add some excitement to any dinner date because of it’s haunted background and great food.

The Granville Public Library The library might seem like a strange place for a date, but it would be the best spot for a study date with your boyfriend or girlfriend. Studying together is a great way to hangout but still be academically productive at the same time. The Granville Public Library was already planned to be established in Ohio when the founders from Granville, Massachusetts, settled in Ohio, but it wasn’t built until 1989. The library is a three stories tall and includes a children’s and teen areas. It provides a quiet and serene place for reading or studying.

“I love going to the public library. It is a great place to study and get homework done. I always go there to study during exam week because it is super quiet,” senior Tyler Schroeder said.

The library also has a unique antique look that is calming to the building, on the inside and on the outside.

Bryn Du Mansion Bryn Du Mansion is a great venue for weddings, Prom or Homecoming pictures, birthdays and other important events.

Keirston Maybury loves the Bryn Du Mansion because it is perfect for taking pre-dance photos. As a little girl, she always looked forward to taking photos there because she watched so many students before her do it. Students often take photos here because there is a lot of space and beautiful backgrounds. The community often gathers to watch students take photos and to see everyone looking dapper.

The Bryn Du Mansion also hosts various art shows and the annual Daffodil show in the spring. A really cool thing that happens on Sundays is the polo games on the front lawn. These polo matches would be a very cool and different date. The mansion’s yard is also perfect for a couple to walk, exercise or play with a dog.

River Road Coffee-loving couples should go on dates at River Road because it has a very cozy and intimate environment. The coffeehouse is any caffeine addict’s dream, and a staple to the community.

The coffee house is often populated with people of all ages: seniors, college students, high school students and families.

The building is often packed with customers who visit daily.

River Road is a great place to study or work on things in a semi quiet area. This is a very good place to work on school work or have time to yourself.

“I go to River Road almost everyday because I love the atmosphere and employees,” senior Grace Petryk said.

Wildwood Wildwood is run by the Granville Recreation Center, who keeps it clean. The park overall features a shelter house with picnic tables, a playground, grill, soccer fields, community gardens, a dog park and access to the bike path.

Many sports are played at Wildwood by students of all ages.

The biggest sport is soccer because the fields are painted and ready for use. Youth groups and other student clubs and organizations meet here to play death-hack and soccer as well.

The playground connected to the fields has been enjoyed by students of Granville for a very long time. The shelter house can be enjoyed by everyone in the community, but can also be rented out for private events. Wildwood park is apart of every child’s life growing up as a student as Granville. Having a date at Wildwood is an awesome way to tie into your childhood roots with your significant other.

Denison Denison is a beautiful college campus right in the center of downtown. It is perfect to go study, workout, watch sporting events and many more activities enjoyed by most students in the high school. The library offers a quiet getaway to focus on your studies. Anyone is allowed access to the library, where there are endless numbers of tables and private study rooms. Since Denison is essentially one giant hill, there are many places outdoors to create a good workout. Many students at the high school enjoy running the multiple sets of stairs in Denison. Most sporting events at Denison are free, so it is a good

activity to enjoy in free time.

“The tennis courts at Denison are the best because I play tennis and the courts are in great shape to practice on. It is also really nice because the courts have lights so when it gets dark you don’t have to worry,” junior Alex Rosenburg said.

Couples could go on walks, to games, exercising or hangout in the open space all over Denison for a cute date.

The Pub The Pub is a great restaurant that is a staple in Granville. It draws in people from every walk of life, and of every age.

The creative and tasty menu attracts a very large crowd for lunch and dinner.

Sophomore Abby Burkholder says that the Pub’s Mac, Buffalo Chicken Salad, Spinach and Artichoke Dip, and Grilled Cheese are favorites of many students at the high school. She often goes here with her cheerleading friends before or after games and competitions.

“The food at the Pub is very good! The Mac n Cheese is my favorite,” junior Chloe Kirkchofer said.

Although the space was just renovated to become larger, the increasing popularity leaves the restaurant jam packed and with a long wait. Although this might be bothersome to people, it is part of the novelty of the restaurant. The Pub is an excellent date restaurant because there are endless food options that are bound to please everyone.

Whit’s Whit’s is often the center of many community events.

During the street fair, everyone stops at Whit’s. After any school concert or performance, every family goes to Whit’s.

It is a place that the community gathers, which makes it one of the best places. Whit’s, without trying, brings the community together, and the people bond over how much everyone appreciates a nice scoop of frozen custard. The flavors change weekly, which leaves each customer anxious to see what the next flavors will be. The staple Whitser and sundae flavors are named after Granville and Denison, which is very popular among consumers.

“I suggest a milkshake from Whit’s to all of my friends and family because those are my favorite,” junior Tommy Wolfe said.

“I also thinks that the weekly flavor is always a good option for any customer.”

Going to get ice cream is a classic date that couples have enjoyed for many years. Whits is the perfect place for a date because almost everyone loves ice cream.

Sugar Loaf Park Sugar Loaf is the hidden gem of Granville. Located on W. Broadway, it has a massive hill that has lots of plants, wildlife and paths for walking. This is an excellent place to run, walk a dog, picnic or participate in other outdoor activities. It is never terribly overpopulated, so this is also a good place for a getaway or alone time. Although it is good for alone time, it is perfect for a date as well.

“Sugar-loaf is a great place to run and spend time outside for people of all ages,” senior Alexie Mcfarland said.

Going on walks or a picnic with your boyfriend or girlfriend at Sugar-loaf is the perfect date idea for people who like to be outdoors.

AMERICAN HORROR STORY A new plot every season, equally as scary as the last, bound to give you nightmares for weeks! If you are looking for a series to really make your heart race this October, “American Horror Story” will do the job with ease.

THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE If you are searching for a twisted movie that will freak you out for days, “The Human Centipede” is the movie for you. The fact that “somebody out there had the thought to make that movie... it is the most twisted thing I have ever seen so knowing that somebody thought of that is really scary,” junior Riley Pay said.

THE WALKING DEAD Looking for a suspenseful nail biting watch that will leave you binge watching for days to come? “The Walking Dead” is the perfect combination of gory and guts to keep your scary taste satisfied.

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4 If you are interested in supernatural movies, look no further than “Paranormal Activity 4.” Mixing gore with the supernatural, this movie is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. “That one screwed me up forever,” junior Eleanor Male said in regards to this movie.

PRETTY LITTLE LIARS Find out why these “innocent” girls are being targeted by the anonymous attacker “A.” The TV series is a mixture of romance and horror, making it the perfect recipe for a sweet and salty combination this October.

IT If clowns freak you out beyond belief, and you are willing to be on the edge of your seat for a full two hours and fifteen minutes, w highly recommend this movie, and so does sophomore Faith Blankemeyer.

“IT” was the scariest movie she has ever watched. “I don’t watch any other scary movies,” sophomore Faith Blankemeyer said.

SCREAM QUEENS Who doesn’t like a dramatic college sorority?

Find out why these girls are being hunted for their privileged and preppy ways. A perfect amount of fear and funny to keep you entertained this October.

THE FIELD OF DREAMS Although it is not known as a horror film, “The Field of Dreams” can still scare some.

“The guy builds a baseball field to summon ghosts in his backyard and he keeps telling them if he builds it they will come. It just freaks me out,” junior Jack Owen said.

TEEN WOLF Who wouldn’t want to be an attractive teen with the ability to become a wolf?

Maybe it’s not for everyone, but the decision cannot be made until you watch “Teen Wolf.” This series includes romance, horror and plenty of suspense that will leave you spending hours in front of the TV.

CLUE Considered a murder mystery and partially comedic film, “Clue” has the ability to raise the heart rate of many, especially kids.. “I watched it when I was young. It’s just really creepy. You never got to the point where you know what was going to happen,” junior Carley Naille said. The movie is based on the popular board game, in which attendees of a party have to find who the murderer is.
