Without the Bow River, there would be no Cochrane. The river’s beauty and natural resources have long been a source of pride for the town. Flowing through the heart of Cochrane, the Bow River has played an essential role in the town’s history, serving as a vital water source and a center for recreational activities.

In the early days, Indigenous peoples, including the Stoney Nakoda and Blackfoot, relied on the river for sustenance, using its waters for fishing and navigation.
