Built for Higher Production J.O'D Group, one of North London’s leading waste management and construction support specialists, has strengthened its recycling operations with the purchase of a new Ecotec TBG 630 high-speed shredder from Blue Machinery (Southern). Established in 1987 by James O’Doherty, J.O'D Group has grown from a single owner-driver operation into a highly respected family-run business providing skip hire, waste management, haulage, aggregates, demolition, plant hire, and 24/7 waste transfer services. With decades of experience and a strong commitment to sustainability, the company continues to invest in advanced equipment that improves efficiency, throughput, and material quality across its operations.
The latest investment sees the company replace its previous Doppstadt AK565k with the powerful Ecotec TBG 630 following a successful machine demonstration. A key factor behind the decision was the increased throughput offered by the TBG 630. Operating within strict tonnage requirements, J.O'D Group required a machine capable of delivering consistently high production rates while maintaining reliability and product quality. The Ecotec TBG 630 exceeded expectations during the demonstration phase, proving capable of processing higher volumes than the company’s previous high-speed shredder. Gerry Vines from J.O'D Group commented: “The TBG 630 impressed us immediately during the demonstration. The throughput capabilities, ease of operation, and accessibility for servicing made it a strong fit for our operation. We also liked the flexibility the machine offers in helping us meet our material specifications and production targets.”
Operator usability and ease of maintenance also played a major role in the investment. The TBG 630 has been designed with accessibility in mind, making daily operation and servicing straightforward for operators and maintenance teams alike. Its unique machine layout and integrated maintenance catwalks provide unrestricted access to both sides of the engine, simplifying routine servicing and reducing downtime. Powered by a robust 661HP V8 Scania engine, the TBG 630 also provides added peace of mind thanks to Scania’s strong aftermarket support network. Combined with Ecotec’s reputation for durability and performance, the machine offers the reliability required for demanding waste processing applications. Blue Southern worked closely with J.O'D Group to further tailor the machine to the company’s operational requirements by installing an additional hydraulic connection. This modification enables the shredder to operate alongside a standalone star screen, allowing J.O'D Group to produce a precise material size specification to meet customer and market demands. The Ecotec TBG 630 incorporates several innovative design features that maximise efficiency and material flow.

↑ L arge open back hopper design
Its open back hopper design offers a larger feed area, removing restrictions on the size and length of incoming material. The open-fronted feeder uses heavy-duty drag chains, a powerful feed wheel, and an unrestricted feeder design to effectively utilise the machine’s impressive 1,100mm diameter by 1,750mm wide swinging hammer rotor. Equipped with 36 swinging hammers, the robust rotor can be configured with a wide range of hammer designs and customisable screens to ensure the required end-product specification is consistently achieved. An intelligent feed system and feed wheel lift/downward assist further optimise material control and throughput. Safety and machine protection are also priorities within the TBG 630’s design. Metal contaminants are always a concern when operating high-speed shredders, but Ecotec’s intelligent screen opening system allows contaminants to be discharged quickly, helping reduce the risk of accidental machine damage. The investment forms part of J.O'D Group’s ongoing commitment to modernising its recycling operations, with the company also recently purchasing an Ecotec TBG 530, which is currently operating from another site.

Unboxing a New Era of Shredding Kent-based waste management specialist Greenbox Recycling has strengthened its processing operations with the addition of a new Ecotec TDS 820 slow speed shredder. ↓ T he TDS 820 processing wood waste
Greenbox Recycling has built a strong reputation across Kent and the surrounding areas for delivering reliable waste management and skip hire services to both domestic and commercial customers. The company is committed to environmentally responsible waste handling, recycling approximately 90% of all collected waste while diverting the remaining material away from landfill through energy recovery facilities. The new Ecotec TDS 820 is being used to process both incoming wood and mixed waste materials arriving at Greenbox Recycling’s yard. Designed with independently-driven shafts, the twin-shaft slow speed shredder delivers excellent performance across a wide range of demanding applications.
“ The machine has been a really positive addition to the business,” said Richard Monks from Greenbox Recycling. “It’s a lot easier for our operators to run and maintain, and they really like the simplicity of the machine. The build quality is extremely solid, you can turn it on in the morning and it will just work away all day.” Powered by a Scania DC13 440HP Stage V engine, the TDS 820 is designed to offer aggressive shredding performance across a variety of materials. Its customisable shredding programs allow operators to configure the machine to suit individual applications, helping to reduce material wrappage while maximising production efficiency.
and enables bi-directional shredding for improved operational flexibility. Its two-metre-long shafts feature a fully welded tooth configuration, delivering high throughput and excellent material reduction. Independent gearboxes also allow each shaft to operate separately, further reducing material wrapping and improving shredding efficiency.
The machine’s hydrostatic drive system provides increased protection against contamination
Additional features on the machine include a tipping hopper, which increases the available feed area,
alongside hopper extensions that provide additional capacity when handling bulky materials. As Greenbox Recycling continues to invest in efficient and sustainable processing equipment, the Ecotec TDS 820 is set to play a key role in supporting the company’s ongoing commitment to dependable service, operational efficiency, and environmentally responsible waste management.

Pinden Drums up Efficiency Pinden Limited, one of the largest waste recycling operations in Kent and the South East, has recently invested in a new Ecotec TTS 620T tracked trommel screen, supplied by Blue Machinery Southern. The acquisition represents a significant upgrade to the company's mixed waste processing capabilities. Pinden Limited is a family-owned waste management and recycling business based at Pinden Quarry in Longfield, Dartford, Kent. The company traces its heritage back to 1929 through Syd Bishop & Sons Limited, with the Bishop family acquiring Pinden Quarry in 2004. Today, under the stewardship of owner-directors Terry and Steve Bishop, Pinden operates an advanced recycling facility serving both domestic and commercial customers across Kent and South East London. The Ecotec TTS 620T is a tracked trommel screen engineered for high-efficiency material separation and is now being deployed at Pinden to process mixed waste, replacing a previous trommel screen. Matt Scott, Sales Director at Blue Machinery Southern, commented on the sale: "We're delighted to have supplied the TTS 620T to Pinden Limited. 60 Years of Power In 2026, Blue Machinery proudly celebrates the 60th anniversary of Powerscreen, a brand that has helped shape the mobile crushing and screening industry around the world. Founded in 1966 as Ulster Plant in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, Powerscreen has built its six-decade legacy through industry leadership, customer input, continuous innovation and relationships founded on trust. Manufacturing, research and development remain rooted in Northern Ireland today, continuing the engineering heritage that turned a pioneering local business into a globally recognised brand.
From the beginning, Powerscreen changed the industry’s approach to material processing. Its founders pioneered mobile screening by taking machines to the quarry face, rather than moving material to a fixed plant. This practical innovation created a new benchmark for efficiency, flexibility and productivity. Sixty years later, that same customer-led approach remains at the heart of the brand. Powerscreen develops equipment around what operators need to succeed in demanding and evolving applications across quarrying, mining, construction, demolition and recycling. Its products continue to set standards for quality, reliability and safety in mobile crushing and screening. For Blue Machinery, this anniversary has particular significance. Our story is closely linked to the people, products and values that built Powerscreen.

18 BLUEMAIL SUMMER 2026
Blue Machinery was formed in 2004 when four experienced Powerscreen dealers; Pat McGeary, Austin Carey, Brian Maxwell and Eugene Donnelly, came together. Combining their experience, expertise and commitment to market-leading client support, they created a business with strong foundations in the Powerscreen network.
The four recognised that closer collaboration would help their regional businesses combine strengths, broaden their offering and deliver more for customers. The values that underpin Powerscreen also remain central to Blue Machinery: practical innovation, strong relationships and a focus on customer success. A leading machine is only part of the solution. Longterm customer confidence is built through responsive parts availability, technical knowledge, service and aftersales support. This has always been a defining strength of Blue Machinery, and it continues today through our dedicated teams across the Group. As Powerscreen celebrates 60 years of power, Blue Machinery is proud to recognise a shared heritage built on innovation, trusted support and a commitment to helping customers succeed. It was a privilege to celebrate at Con Expo in Las Vegas and again at the recent Hillhead Trade Show in June. Here’s to 60 years of Powerscreen, and to the future of mobile crushing and screening.
