The Wave News
Dennis P. LeStrange President & CEO, BlueCrest
Dear Team,
I want to start off by thanking every BlueCrest employee for your commitment and dedication to our company, something you have been doing all year long. It is very noticeable and much appreciated. As we turn toward the final stretch of the year, we can look back at many great achievements in 2022.
We successfully integrated WindowBook and Fluence Automation—an incredible team effort that required collaboration all across our company. We also wrote record amounts of written business, underscoring the immense demand for BlueCrest products in the marketplace. We navigated the uncertainties of the global pandemic and overcame challenges in the international market. Our service teams have overachieved revenue and margin contribution objectives, and we added to our impressive IP portfolio by securing several more patents. Clearly another example of BlueCrest innovation—proving our position as the dominant player in the industry.
But, we still have 90 more days to finish off 2022, and we still face considerable challenges with the global supply chain market, particularly in the form of parts shortages for chips, PCBs, and motors. This has caused our backlog to grow to the point that we must work hard to reduce it. Although there is some comfort in large backlogs, it creates many challenges for our customers – most noticeably our ability to deliver more quickly.
As I mentioned in the All-Employee Meeting on September 7th, we have a significant opportunity ahead of us to greatly improve our customers’ satisfaction and loyalty by shipping more equipment and reducing our backlog.
Less backlog will greatly improve customer satisfaction . . . Less is More!
This is truly an “all hands-on deck” moment for us.
In order to accomplish our Less is More objective, we have established a target of manufacturing, integrating, shipping, and installing 108 inserters over the next 75 days.
• We have set up a war room to track these 108 machines
• We have created a KPI dashboard, formed an executive steering committee, and developed a comprehensive communications plan to keep you up to date on the company’s progress. Expect weekly communications for the remainder of the year.
But in order to achieve this target, I need your help. We need positive energy, a “can-do” attitude, and a helping hand from everyone to accomplish this goal. Who can you help today? What can you focus on to help us achieve our target? All things matter including, the little things.
Above all, remember ICARE. We are a team of collaborators and innovators, accountable to each other using our resourcefulness and enthusiasm to go where our company has never gone before!
Onward, Dennis P. LeStrange, President & CEO, BlueCrest

Integrated Management System
by David Jefferies
Welcome to the first formal update from BlueCrest UK on our new Integrated Management system (IMS). This is all about standards and for this first issue, we want to set the understanding of IMS with all employees and celebrate the effort that has got us to being well on our way to having three important ISO standards in place as a company. We’ll send these updates occasionally as we develop the system. For now, please take the time to read this update, so you are fully aware of this business achievement. Ultimately, as employees of BlueCrest we are all owners of our IMS.
IMS is the name we will use from hereon in to define the work and the systems we use to deliver and maintain workplace standards
UK ISO AUDIT
that include the standards set by ISO and in turn allow us to obtain ISO accreditation.
The Journey to ISO Standards
Standards are important in all walks of life and the business community is no different. If we can prove we are working to a recognized set of standards life is simpler. We can quote the standards and this immediately paints a picture of our business to prospective and current clients.
They show our structured approach, guiding principles, moral compass and more. As such, when clients are completing due diligence for contracts and building business partnerships these standards clearly set out our store and deliver a clear advantage over other suppliers, that do not maintain the same standards.
The Audit
In late August DMT UK started the first of a three-day audit session with BSI, the body that defines ISO standards. The objective was to pass a Phase I check of our Integrated Management System (the IMS incorporates the requirements of all three ISO standards that BlueCrest UK want to achieve. In more detail, these are:
•ISO 9001:2015 - Quality Management System which requires a business to demonstrate that it is operated in a way which enhances the delivery of services to clients, by way of standardisation of delivery,
meeting quality objectives, identifying interested parties, and measuring the effectiveness of actions by the reduction of risks to the business and maximisation of opportunities.
•ISO 14001:2015 - Environmental Management System requires a business to identify all aspects of activities that could impact the environment. Once identified the business must state how it will control and measure effectiveness of actions taken.
•ISO 45001:2018 – Health and Safety Management System requires a business to identify all hazards and assess them. Once assessed they need to be controlled to ensure the safety of anyone who engages with our business activities. Again, once identified the business must state how it will control and measure effectiveness of actions taken.
This might sound like common sense and most of it is. However, to set up the IMS, implement it and prove it is being used appropriately to pass an audit is complex, time consuming, and sometimes tedious (lots of reading).

Software Fair in Poland!
by Piotr Kućka
Bluecrest Poland is located in Biesko-Biała. We are a group of 35 developers and software testers, working on our software products, on-prem and Cloud - Output Manager, ReliaVote, DFWorks, Office Mail, Output Control, SortEngine 360, Clarity and others. Recently, we attended an annual event called BBDays4IT which took place in our town. The Bluecrest team participated for the first time.
The event calls itself a festival as it hosts a number of activities: a conference, job trade, hackathon, barbecue, meetups, sports events etc. which span across entire week. Bluecrest team joined the conference which took place 10th September. We had our booth where we were engaged spectators, talked about out products, technologies and open jobs trying to attract candidates. All was possible thanks to local team engagement with blessing of a management and significant help from David Jefferies.

The Ireland team of Bernard Mothersill, Eugene Gale, Frank Sutcliffe and James Keating . were given our first quarterly team award. This ICARE high-five was awarded for outstanding feedback received from our clients. We faced a significant opportunity in Ireland and over the past few months we faced numerous challenges. The key factor in BlueCrest being able to successfully address these challenges by winning three service contracts, refurbished and new machine sales, as well as software engagement, was the loyalty of the clients to our BlueCrest Service team for their professionalism, dedication and commitment. The feedback demonstrates that the entire team lives our key behaviors daily. This was a major positive and a prime reason for our success. Ireland Team: we are grateful for your innovation, collaboration, accountability, resourcefulness and enthusiasm. Thank you!

International Highlights
by Guido Rietti | September 2022
BlueCrest presents at the first Asia Pacific Postal Union in 4 years.
Attended by dozens of Postal organizations and sponsors from the Asia Pacific region, the 9th APPU conference was the first event held in 4 years, and a welcome opportunity for postal organisations from across the region to network amongst themselves, share experiences and learnings from the past 2 years and discuss how each are facing up to challenges driven by changing markets, increased competition from private carriers and cross border tracking, tracing and delivery.
BlueCrest, represented by Guido Rietti and JP Thorpe was able to position the BlueCrest product and services portfolio as a key enabler to the automation challenges all of these national posts are facing, with JP taking the stand to present and field questions.
The event also provided us with the opportunity to reconnect with key decision makers in posts with whom we have had projects held up due to Covid, all of which are being re-started and should restart selection processes in the next 6-18 months (the speed of National Posts!)

In September
by Sir Charles George Douglas Roberts
This windy, bright September afternoon
My heart is wide awake, yet full of dreams. The air, alive with hushed confusion, teems
With scent of grain-fields, and a mystic rune, Foreboding of the fall of Summer soon, Keeps swelling and subsiding, till there seems O’er all the world of valleys, hills, and streams, Only the wind’s inexplicable tune.
