In this issue: 04 Kickoff Highlights and Card Attaching See videos from Kickoff and read about a big win in Card Attaching. 06 NAPM Recap and Fluence Integration See how the teams are coming together. 14 Thought Leadership New Horizons - What’s Next for BlueCrest by Carl Amacker 16 I nternational Update by Kim Andersen

Dear Team,

Dennis P. LeStrange President & CEO, BlueCrest

I’m excited as we enter the second year of The Wave newsletter. In this edition, I encourage you to pay special attention to the Kickoff Recap on page four, as well as Carl Amacker’s explanation of our 2022 strategy called “New Horizons.” You’ll also find updates regarding our integrations with Fluence Automation, written by Joseph Corey, and an exciting announcement from Chris Lien regarding our most recent acquisition of Window Book. Each edition, I love to see the BlueCrest Spotlights—these are the stories that really highlight the teamwork in our company—and this quarter, we get to hear a little bit of the story behind the incredible success of Card-Attaching and one of the largest single purchase orders in company history. The success behind our Card-Attaching endeavor truly exemplifies the best that ICARE has to offer. Talk about a huge team effort full of resourcefulness and enthusiasm! I think by now you are beginning to see a theme in our revenue updates: we continue to make amazing progress in our Written Business, but Equipment Revenue lags behind, due to the disruption in the global supply chain system. The good news is we have built a strong backlog with a 50% increase in Written Business in 2021; the hard part is dealing with the chaos of the disrupted global supply chain. This issue impacts everyone—not just BlueCrest. And the truth is, there is no immediate end in sight. To overcome this challenge and seize the opportunity of all this business, it really must be “all hands on deck.” I’m counting on all of us to chip in and find resourceful ways to deliver on all this written business. I know we will do it. We have an exciting year ahead of us and I anticipate we will see strong growth in several sectors, especially in parcel automation and eCommerce fulfillment operations. I realize we face many challenges, but as you will see in this newsletter, we are the innovative, powerful, international market leader. But none of this happens without you: you make BlueCrest what it is, and every day I see our teams embracing and building our BlueCrest culture into what we want it to be. We truly are becoming BlueCrest with our commitment to our customers, to our values and ICARE behaviors, and to each other. It’s because of you that we will WIN BIG in 2022. Sincerely, Dennis P. LeStrange, President & CEO, BlueCrest

BlueCrest Spotlights

Kickoff 2022 Strata, Marbles, and Fun... After a two-year hiatus, we were so thrilled to get so many team members together for the annual kickoff this past February. In the past, we have called this event “Sales Kick Off,” which we’ve traditionally used as an opportunity to educate our sellers on new products and services, the market, and our strategy for the new year. Going forward, we will simply refer to this as “Kickoff” because we found great joy in getting multiple lines of business together for informative industry presentations, goal-setting, and good old networking. It was so nice to let loose and have some fun - whether at dinner, over drinks, or at the teambuilding event where BlueCrest team members had to work together to race a marble across a hotel ballroom. We even enjoyed a special “cloud” cocktail to commemorate the launch of BlueCrest Strata!

Watch Kickoff Highlights Video

While it’s not always possible to get all of our team members together in-person, we tried to take as many photos and videos as possible. We hope you will take the time to catch up on the Kickoff Highlights by watching the videos linked here. We’ve also included links to the presentations so you can review as much as you would like. In the future, we will look at expanding the scope of this event. We think get-togethers like this are important, and they’re a lot of fun.

Team Highlight Card Attaching This story is a great success, and it took a huge team to pull it off. Well done to all – a fantastic example of our ICARE behaviors.

“Innovating through a global pandemic” Did you know that our Card-Attaching system was developed during COVID? Go back in time to March 2020 - we faced a shutdown, a surging virus, and a huge amount of uncertainty. With our factory closed, our team members exemplified resourcefulness and resiliency. Some employees even took modules home to work on them.

Despite the challenge, our team rose to the occasion and delivered our first installation - meeting and exceeding customer demands. We were asked to build perhaps the most sophisticated inserter ever made, in the middle of a pandemic. And we did it.

This resulted in one of the largest purchase orders in company history: $20 million. Overall, we saw $30m of Card-Attaching business over the last 18 months as a result. To say that Card-Attaching has exceeded our expectations is an understatement. We’ve now been asked to deliver followup systems to this order, with three of our five clients now asking for additional orders. This could not have been accomplished without the extraordinary efforts of a huge team, which is highlighted below. Their enthusiasm has been overwhelming.

2022 NAPM Annual Conference BlueCrest-Fluence Integration by David Bush

Mailing industry experts, customers, vendors, and USPS personnel gathered at the TradeWinds resort in St Petersburg, Florida for the National Association of Presort Mailers (NAPM) annual conference this year. This year’s conference theme was “Weathering the Storm” and was the first inperson event for the NAPM in two years. BlueCrest was represented along with the newly acquired team from Fluence Automation. The event starts each year with a customer networking golf outing and the teams from BlueCrest represented well, capturing both first and second place. Kevin O’Shea from Executive Mailing led the team with Dave Bush and Roger Bergstrom from BlueCrest to first place, while Dave Berger from On-line Data, led his team, including Austin Horsley from My Shipping Post and Brian Bowers from BlueCrest to a close second. After a fun day on the golf course, BlueCrest hosted an opening customer reception to welcome customers to the NAPM and to have an opportunity to hear one-on-one about the recent acquisition of Fluence Automation by BlueCrest. Over 55 customers and guests attended the social event.

Day one of the annual event started on Tuesday with the opening of the conference center. Customers were invited to visit the vendor booths to meet with representatives from each company and learn about new technologies and solutions in the mailing industry. BlueCrest personnel were on hand to answer questions with customers concerning the full range of BlueCrest solutions. One of the highlights of day one’s sessions was the awarding to Richard Gebbie, CEO of Midwest Direct in Cleveland, of the Sue Foster award for outstanding contributions to the NAPM and mailing industry. Gebbie is currently the President of the NAPM and has been leading the association through several changes including the most recent challenges due to the pandemic.

“With this successful event behind us, we’re

excited! We’re excited about the power of our combined brands, we’re excited about our expanding capabilities, but most of all, we’re excited about the incredible people who make BlueCrest so great. “

Another highlight of the annual conference was the opportunity to hear from USPS Postmaster General Louis DeJoy. PMG DeJoy addressed topics of importance to members of the association including a conversation on the USPS performance in processing and delivering on President Biden’s mandate for at-home Covid 19 testing kits. DeJoy explained how the USPS was able to create a process that allowed for up to three million at-home kits to be shipped daily.

David Bush – VP, Sortation Sales

Having the NAPM back in-person this year was important to BlueCrest and our customers. Being face to face with customers allowed the BlueCrest team to discuss the acquisition of Fluence Automation and introduce the broader scope of BlueCrest solutions to this important industry segment. With this successful event behind us, we’re excited! We’re excited about the power of our combined brands, we’re excited about our expanding capabilities, but most of all, we’re excited about the incredible people who make BlueCrest so great. With so many new opportunities waiting on the new horizon, we are poised for big things ahead. Upper right: Richard Gebbie, Midwest Direct Lower right: USPS Postmaster General Louis DeJoy

BlueCrest Sorter Featured in Isle of Man Post

BlueCrest Strata Platform BlueCrest launches the BlueCrest Strata platform, a cloud-based software offering that delivers solutions on demand. “The main advantage is it creates greater capacity for IoMPO to win more work,” Chief executive Simon Kneen said: ’This is a significant investment agreed by the board, which is a key part of our strategy to become the leading parcel delivery business in the island.” While the Post Office has been operating an automatic letter sorting machine since 2012, up until now parcels were sorted by hand - albeit with the assistance of technology which identifies which delivery rounds to sort the parcels to.

“The introduction of the BlueCrest Strata platform represents a new horizon for our customers,” said Carl Amacker, Chief Marketing Officer at BlueCrest. “BlueCrest is leading the charge in our industry by working with Microsoft and migrating all of our software to a single, robust compliant platform. It is built on Microsoft Azure which has over 90 compliance certifications, including over 50 specific certifications to global regions and countries. Our vision is to get everyone on the BlueCrest Strata cloud.”

The new machine will utilize optical character recognition technology to read postal addresses in order to sort items into postal routes, for delivery around the island.

Thought Leadership Article by Carl Amacker | March 2022

New Horizons

- What’s next for BlueCrest

Carl Amacker Chief Marketing Officer

By Carl Amacker Since becoming BlueCrest, our journey has felt a little like intrepid explorers venturing into the unknown sea. No one could have predicted COVID19, nor the disruptions that would come along with it, but we persevered through the storm, rallied together, and continued to venture forward. Though it all, we faced incredible complexities, and while the sailing hasn’t always been smooth, we proved to be resilient.

on many of the challenges our customers face in the market. Our backlog stands at record highs, and we continue to tackle challenges while innovating and delivering solutions to meet customer demand. With the acquisition of BCC Software, Fluence Automation and Window Book, we now have a very broadest solutions portfolio, allowing us to grow +30% since 2018. So why change from Vision 2020?

In early 2020 we introduced Vision 2020 which set the foundation for us to leverage our internal strengths and motivate us to a path to success. Since then, Bluecrest has truly established itself as the technology leader in the postal automation space. Our print-to-mail solutions have provided great returns, and we see our products in high demand based

The Question. Our industry is evolving. We face both headwinds and tailwinds to success. The reality is that the success we’re enjoying now in the production mail industry is nice, but it is a declining industry. Some of the assumptions we made in Vision 2020 have changed to the point where we need to refocus on new opportunities for growth.

“The challenging question is this: how do we continue to maintain our level of success in postal automation, while leveraging our core competencies to enter and grow in adjacent markets and services?”

market, and are the leading provider of vote-by-mail in the United States. Additionally, we believe that with all the changes taking place at the USPS, combined with the increase in costs of producing mail, the Presort industry will provide stability and an area of growth for BlueCrest in the future. PBPS is now our largest customer, and we have made tremendous investments in the presort business with our acquisitions of BCC Software, Fluence Automation, and Window Book. We now have the fullest set of solutions that help customers maximize discounts, improve productivity and predictability, and provide competitive differentiation. But we need to keep innovating and investing in other areas.

The Opportunities. Mail volumes are in decline and will likely continue to do so forever. Just look at our colleagues in the international space, where their volumes have declined much faster than what has been experienced in North America. This is especially true in transactional mail, BlueCrest’s historical sweet spot. When you look into mail volumes deeper, however, you all see that some types of mail are flat (direct mail), and others are growing (vote-by-mail). Despite the overall decline in mail, BlueCrest is wellpositioned to succeed in postal automation for years to come as we serve the largest customers in the transactional mail space, have made great customer inroads into the direct mail

Perhaps the biggest growth area for us in the parcel automation, especially in the areas of handling parcels for national/private posts, eCommercefulfillment operations, and large campus deployments. These markets are surprisingly under-served considering the boom in parcel volumes worldwide, and we believe that with our innovations (TrueSort) and acquisitions (Fluence Automation), we are now well-positing to experience large growth in these areas.

The New Horizons. And why are we so confident that we will be successful as we move into these new markets and opportunities? We have size and scale. We have an incredible service organization. We are international. And we are innovative and acquisitive. These traits allow us to be better positioned than our competition in each of these markets. We made it through the storm and established BlueCrest. Now, with the wind at our backs and a bright sun guiding our way, we are on to our new horizons.

International update Letter from Kim Andersen | March 2022

Kim Andersen EVP, Int’l

A new year brings new challenges and opportunities! Operations are getting back to normal after several years of disruption. We have enjoyed a strong start in ANZ, France, and Germany. Dear All,

In International we were entering our new business year with a spike in CV-19 “Omicron” variant, knowing that after such spike we would most likely enjoy fewer COVID restrictions in Q2, where business interactions and social life would be get back to normal. During February we were able to enjoy kickoff events. While we held some of these over Microsoft Teams, our team in the United Kingdom met in-person for the first time in two years. What a difference that makes! And then... Russia chose to invade Ukraine! I’m shocked and deeply saddened by the events we have seen unfolding in Ukraine over the last few weeks. I’m a strong believer in freedom for everyone everywhere, and my thoughts and prayers go out to all Ukrainians. I wanted to let you know that we don’t have any direct operations in Russia, Ukraine or surrounding countries. These countries are all served via our Partner Channel. As such, our European Operations are all running with their normal activities and run-rates, and we are moving forward with our plans currently embedded in AOP 2022. For the ANZ Team “Down Under,” the team is busy installing Bluecrest Technology at 5 different customers over the coming weeks, bringing a solid head start to Jason and Team for 2022. In Japan, Hiroshi has entered into a partnership with B+H in relation to their new swing-arm unit call Forerunner. In Japan we still have more than +250 units of swing-arm technology in the field, and with the significance of Japanese paper quality, leaflets and envelope closing, there is still a high demand for this technology. We are launching the B+H/BC Forerunner in a kick-off during the month of May, with hopefully 4-5 orders already in place for 2022. I hope that you all will enjoy Easter Time, spring season, and let us all hope that resolution will soon come to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Kind regards

The Wave | March 2022

UK District working towards ISO9001 /14001/45001 by Guido Rietti DMT UK has made the decision to achieve industry standards in our management systems (ISO). The standards we are going to target are 9001 (Quality), 14001 (Environmental), 45001 (Health and Safety). This will be a district wide effort and will NOT be achieved by just one group working in isolation. It will require all employees to support the task, and in doing so reinforce our ICARE behaviors. We are already doing everything required on a daily basis, but what the preliminary work has evidenced is that we are not always documenting and organizing sufficiently for the certification to be obtained. The outcome of these accreditations will be a more open and transparent approach to what we do and how we do it. There will be targeted training, Goals and objectives will be aligned with the standards, and audits to ensure we do what we say we do.

This will be a complex but exciting journey, and will facilitate participation in key RFP processes where the above mentioned certifications are increasingly a mandatory requirement to be considered as a vendor. The UK ISO project team, lead by Cameron Candlish, is working closely with Steve Varga’s team in order to benefit from the learnings which enabled Danbury to recently achieve their ISO certification, so in true BlueCrest spirit, we are leveraging the knowledge within the organization to make us better and stronger as a global team. Target date for achieving the certification is Q3. The gap analysis to identify what is required to achieve certification, initial corrective actions are already underway and initial audits have already been completed and documented as part of the road map to certification.
