“We sold our home of 20+ years earlier this year, above our asking price, and moved into our beautiful cottage home at Sterling Estates, freeing us from all the responsibilities of homeownership. We freed up cash, traded in property taxes and constant maintenance for the many benefits we’ve discovered living here at Sterling. We exercise more than ever. I love to walk through the grounds and enjoy the large wellness center, while my wife swims almost daily in the indoor heated pool. She is fond of her weekly art classes. A day here is much more fulfilling for us, we wished we had moved sooner. We encourage you to come see what we mean.” - Bill and Sally R.

For this edition of “Talkin’ Sports” I had the distinct pleasure of sitting down with Atlanta Braves catcher Chadwick Tromp. Chadwick played with the Braves franchise for five years, from 2021-2025, before moving on early last season to the Baltimore Orioles and Boston Red Sox. But just recently, after becoming a free agent, the Bravos signed Tromp to a contract. Besides being an incredible baseball player this young man is as genuine and personable as they come and I think you will see just that in reading this piece.
JH: Hi Chadwick, thanks so much for sitting down with me and welcome back to the Braves. Tell me a little bit about your background and how you grew up falling in love with the game of baseball.
CT: Thanks so much, I’m very excited to be back. So, I grew up in Aruba where there were only about 100,000 people. It was very family oriented and I was a big family guy. I loved baseball and watched my older brother play. My grandfather had me start playing when I was about four years old. It started trending towards my lifestyle at the field every weekend so I learned that in order to be able to be at the field I needed good grades or else my mom wouldn’t be happy. It really created discipline early on.
JH: And it all seemed to happen very fast with baseball as you actually played for your country at a very young age. How was that experience?
CT: I represented my nation of Aruba from 7 to 17 years old. I had five siblings and therefore had to travel a lot by myself with the team. It helped me develop a personality and be responsible and become a leader. Mentally it turned out to be the best thing for me. When you sign to play professionally (which I eventually did) you can’t play for Aruba anymore. But I did go on to play with the Netherlands in the World Baseball Classic in 2017. That was big in terms of exposure. I was also in Double A that year.
JH: Speaking of the Braves, there is a change in managers as Brian Snitker just retired and a familiar face in former bench coach Walt Weiss was promoted. How do you see this playing out?
CT: I think a lot will stay the same. Walt is a wonderful human being as is Snit. I have a ton of respect for Walt. He loves to win. I always remember with Walt how you have to do the little things right, especially the base running. It’s going to be the same culture. I don’t think too much will change. Funny enough I know a lot of the other new coaches from the past as well.
JH: Certainly the Braves have a ton of talent at the catcher position. Drake Baldwin just won the National League Rookie of the Year and Sean Murphy is a very good and experienced catcher in the mix as well. What are you thoughts on Drake and how do you view making the big league club in 2026?

CT: Drake is a beautiful human being. Whatever you see as a player, he’s an even better person. We always knew he was going to be special. I told him this is your team when they DFA’d (designated for assignment) me. What you saw this past year (in winning the Rookie of the Year) is not even close to how good he can be.
It’s different this year, every year’s different but the most important part for me is to show up and make the team. I know that I’m loved and respected here. They know I have some energy and can be a present voice. They know what type of person I am. Whatever they want me to do I’m going to do. If they want me in the big leagues they want me in the big leagues.
JH: Being a big leaguer is certainly a dream come true but you are a big family guy as you already mentioned and probably can’t see them very often. How has that been?
JH: Eventually you found your way to Atlanta and have played here for a good deal of your career. Why Atlanta? Is there a connection at all growing up with our beloved home?
CT: Yes, there actually is. Former Brave Andruw Jones was a guy I grew up watching while sitting on my grandfather’s lap. He came from the neighboring island of Curacao. I always rooted for him but made my debut with the Giants in 2020. Then at the end of 2021 I came to the Braves and stayed here for five years. The Atlanta Braves franchise is the gold standard. A lot of little details go into it. When you are with this franchise you want to get to the field early and leave last. That’s just how you feel when here. When you are a Brave you can feel it in the clubhouse, the culture. Everybody is so loving and cares for this franchise from Terry (McGuirk) and Alex (Anthopoulous) down the line. It makes you hold yourself to that standard. For me to play for the Braves is a dream come true.

CT: My son is six years old. He is a very beautiful kid. Coming to the states and leaving my family to chase what I want to achieve is the biggest sacrifice we (as ballplayers) make. That’s the hardest part. I’m not ever sure when my family can come see me. It’s tough and very mentally challenging and makes you appreciate close relationships that much more. Being in Atlanta, I have a great friend named Milton who I grew up with. I really did grow up with some best friend relationships and you have to hold on very closely to those.
JH: And finally, I can’t let you let you go without asking you about Cobb County which is obviously the home of our Atlanta Braves.
CT: I actually do love Cobb County. My favorite coffee shop is in Vinings called Read Shop. Truist Park and The Battery are amazing, too. It has very chill vibes. If I had to put a few words for that area it would be “full of life”. Whether it’s 7 in the morning or 10 at night, people are always dressed up and ready to go. The environment is awesome. You definitely don’t get that everywhere.”
Thanks so much, Chadwick. I’m sure you’ve now made some new fans who will be rooting for you this season!

The holiday season is a joyful time full of gatherings, special meals, and traditions that connect us. But it can also be a season when routines unravel, stress levels rise, and healthy habits take a back seat. With a few mindful choices, you can move through the season feeling strong, steady, and genuinely present. Your well-being doesn’t have to take a holiday.
Redefining what a healthy holiday season looks like could be the ticket to having a great time and being ready to take on the new year without feeling like you are starting over. During the holidays, your version of “healthy” might look different than it does in March or July, and that’s okay. These adjustments don’t mean you’re falling off track; they mean you’re adapting to real life.
The key is to keep movement, rest, and nourishment in your routine in a way that feels sustainable not restrictive. Think of it as maintenance mode, not allor-nothing.
Movement is one of the most powerful stress relievers available. Ten minutes of focused movement can reset your mood and energy.
If time is tight, try “micro workouts”: A brisk walk between errands, a few minutes of bodyweight exercises before your morning shower, stretching while your coffee brews or a quick round of posture work between work meetings.

These small bursts keep muscles engaged, support circulation, and protect your joints especially during colder months when we naturally slow down a bit.
Protect your energy like it’s a gift. Holiday burnout is real. Think of your energy as a limited resource. Every “yes” is a “no” to something else in your life. Protecting your energy might look like choosing one event over three and saying no without guilt.
Nourish yourself with intention, not rules. Holiday food should be enjoyed, not feared. It’s part of how we celebrate, comfort, and show love. Instead of seeing meals as “good” or “bad,” build your plate around color, texture, and variety: a mix of lean protein, vibrant vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats. Then, leave space for the seasonal foods that make you smile like Grandma’s pie.
The holidays can remind us that wellness is more than workouts and meal plans. It’s about connection, gratitude, and taking care of the body that carries you through it all. This season, give yourself permission to slow down, move with intention, and care for yourself as much as you care for others. That’s the real holiday goal.

For more than fifteen years, Governors MedSpa & Concierge Medicine has been a cornerstone of personalized healthcare in Kennesaw, Georgia. Founded and led by the husband-and-wife team of Dr. Heath and Dr. Ashley Trowell, the practice began with a simple mission: deliver exceptional medical care in a warm, small-community setting where patients feel known, valued, and genuinely cared for. What started as a local medical clinic has grown into a thriving, full-service wellness destination—yet the heart of the practice remains unchanged.
Drs. Heath and Ashley Trowell built their practice on relationships. In an era when healthcare often feels rushed and impersonal, the Trowells continue to stand out by treating every patient as part of their extended family. At Governors MedSpa & Concierge Medicine, no one is a number. From the moment you walk through the door, the team knows your name, understands your needs, and ensures your care is both prompt and personalized.
This intimate, concierge-style approach has earned the trust of the Kennesaw community for over a decade and a half. Many patients have been with the practice since its early days, watching it evolve and expand—while still maintaining the same level of warmth and familiarity that made it special from the start.
As Kennesaw has grown, so has the practice’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of its patients. What began as a traditional concierge medical clinic has expanded into a comprehensive hub for aesthetics, wellness, and functional medicine.
Today, the practice proudly offers a wide variety of services, including:
l Advanced medical aesthetics
l Hormone and wellness programs
l Functional medicine approaches that focus on root-cause healing
l Preventative and concierge-level medical care
l Each addition has been thoughtfully chosen to enhance patient well-being, blending science, artistry, and personalized care.
With new services came the need for a larger team—and the Trowells have carefully assembled a staff of passionate professionals who share the practice’s patient-first philosophy. Governors MedSpa & Concierge Medicine is now home to:
l Skilled aestheticians
l Dedicated medical providers
l Experienced wellness and functional medicine specialists
This growing team ensures that every patient receives the prompt, attentive, concierge-level experience the practice is known for. Whether you’re visiting for medical care, aesthetic treatments, or a comprehensive wellness plan, you’re greeted by staff who know your story, understand your goals, and treat you with personalized attention.
As medicine continues to evolve, so will Governors MedSpa & Concierge Medicine. Drs. Heath and Ashley Trowell remain committed to staying at the forefront of healthcare innovation while preserving the personal, family-like atmosphere that defines the practice. Their dedication to continuous improvement ensures that the Kennesaw community will always have access to exceptional, modern, and heartfelt care.
For the Trowells and their team, the mission is simple: to grow with their community, adapt to the future of medicine, and remain the trusted, welcoming place where every patient truly feels at home.

Cobb County has always stepped up when our military families are in need, and this moment is no different. The government shutdown may be over, but the financial ripple effects are still being felt by many service members and their families. Missed paychecks, delayed reimbursements, and unexpected expenses have created real strain—and our community can help bridge that gap.

The Cobb Chamber is launching the Stand in the Gap Campaign to support service men and women impacted by the shutdown. The Dobbins Top Three Association and the Georgia National Guard Family Support Foundation are collecting donations to help provide groceries, gas assistance, rental assistance, and other essential items for furloughed personnel who continue to face challenges in the weeks ahead.

If you or your business would like to help, you can use the two links below to make a donation today. Every contribution—large or small—makes a meaningful difference. Together, we can show our appreciation through acts of
support that remind our service members and their families that Cobb County has their back, no matter the circumstances.
