Field Trip to Kodaikanal

The department of Animation organized a field trip to Kodaikanal for 3 days, from 18th to 20th Sep 2019. Around 47 students of I year Animation and Faculty members, Mr. P. Thirunavukkarasu, HoD – Animation, Mr. V. Chenthil Kumar, Coordinator – Animation,Mr. M. Abdul Aziz Hakkim, Instructor – Animation and Ms. Sumathi - Warden participated in the trip.The Department organized this trip to develop the student’s creativity and to learn about natural landscapes. The students visited places like Silver Falls, Shenbaganur Museum, Coaker’s Walk, Kurinji Andavar Temple, Pillars Rock, Pine Forest and the Lake. This trip was very effective for the students to develop their knowledge and Mr. P. Thirunavukkarasu also did a Landscape painting. Mr. Chenthil Kumar taught the importance of Lighting and Composition in Photography, which helped the students gain knowledge in these areas. Students enjoyed the trip as an experiential learning and gave a positive feedback.

The Department of Animation conducted a Peer Teaching session for the I year students of B.Sc Animation on 10.09.2019. Ms. P. Uma from III Year B.Sc Animation explained Standard Operations Procedures (SOP) in the Graphic Design Industry and also highlighted the SOP terms related to Graphic Design in the Advertisement field. Training Programme by 2ADPro The department of Animation, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science & 2adpro, a Multinational Company from Chennai, jointly organised a Campus Recruitment Drive for the students of III year B.Sc Animation. Mr.Nirmal, HR Manager & Mr.Ramesh Dhanasekaran, Head-Training Division from the company conducted the Interview. Thirty students were selected. A training programme, ‘Extravaganza 2K19’ was organised for the shortlisted candidates for the period of two months (August& September,1999) by the company at the College. The trainers from the concerned Company, Mr. Murali, Ms. Chitra & Ms. Malathy trained the students about their Company`s structure, values, workflow and procedures. They also arranged student recreation programmes and artistic activities like celebrating Halloween Day, Outbound Training and Fireless Cooking. The students training program was an experiential learning and was very useful to them.

Valedictory Function of the Training Programme Department of Animation, Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science & 2adpro organised a Valedictory function for the Training Programme, ‘Extravaganza 2K19’ on 26th September 2019 in the college premises. Dr. B. Ramamoorthy, Principal, SLCS and Dr. R.L. Ramnath, IQAC-Advisor were the Guests of Honour. Mr. Ramesh, Head of Training Divisions and Trainers Mr. Murali, Ms. Chitra and Ms. Malathy, were present. Mr. P.Thirunavukkarasu, Head, Department of Animation, gave an inspiring speech about the Industry to the students. Students exhibited their talents in Silambam, Dance, Mime, Music and Singing. They conducted games such as Tug-ofWar, Biscuit Game, etc. Students & Trainers shared their experience about the Training Period and then, the Demo reels of the I, II and III year students were shown. DEPARTMENT OF MC&HM Teacher’s Day Celebration A Game session during the Valedictory function

Board of Studies Meeting The Department of Animation conducted their 13th Board of Studies Meeting on 18th October 2019 (Friday) at the Animation Academic Lab-1 at 10.30AM. Mr.P.Thirunavukkarasu, Head of the Department welcomed the gathering and presented the syllabus. Mr. P. Kishore Kumar explained the skeleton of the entire syllabi. Mr.Shanmuga Velayudham, Assistant Professor, Department of Visual Communication, Jamal Mohammed College, Trichy and Mr. Arun Subash, Asst. Professor, Department of Visual Communication, Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education, Krishnankovil were the Subject Experts. Mr. Balashyameshwaran, was the Industry Expert and Mr. Keerthi Vasan, participated as an Alumnus. All the members gave their valuable suggestions and recommendations about the syllabus. The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized Teacher’s Day Celebration at the Training Restaurant on 05.09.2019. All teaching and non teaching members participated in this celebration. Students expressed their gratitude and appreciation for their teachers on this day. This day is dedicated to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan – the second President of India.

DEPARTMENT OF CS (SSS) Report on Symposium On 5th September 2019, students from the Department of CS participated in a Symposium held at AAA College of Engineering & Technology, Sivakasi. Totally, 11 students participated in various events such as “You can’t see me” (Coding), “Game O Game” (Car game), “Puzzle Hunt” (Technical Quiz), and “Paper Chase” (Non-technical Event). Professor Mrs.S.Nirmala Devi accompanied the students and encouraged them to participate in all the events.

Techtalk Report Department of Computer Science(SSS) conducted TechTalk event for the II year and III year students of Computer Science Department on 06, September 2019 at the Seminar Hall. The session started with the welcome address delivered by Mr. Vasanth of I B.Sc CS(SSS). Ms. Krishnaveni and Ms. Kanmani of III B.Sc CS(SSS) presented a paper on “FogScreen”. The session continued with the presentation of Mr. Sudharsan Prabhu and Mr. Barath of I B.Sc CS(SSS) on “Cloud Computing”, followed by Ms. Deepthi of I B.Sc CS(SSS), who presented a paper on “Medical Transcription”. This session helped students gain knowledge about the principles of FogScreen, use and advantage of Cloud Computing and Medical Transcription.

The Departments of Home Science, Zoology, Biochemistry & Botany organized an International Conference on “Scientific and Social Approaches to Mental Well Being – 2019 on 3.10.2019 & 4.10.2019 at V.V.V College of Arts and Science (UGC Grants Commission – Autonomy Fund). Mrs. G.S.Subbulakshmi, Assistant Professor - Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management presented a Research Paper titled “ Role of Happy Hormones in Mental Health – A Review” on 3.10.2019.

Guest Lecture Report

A guest lecture on Digital India was held on 19th, September 2019 for the students of II B.Sc CS(SSS) & III B.Sc CS(SSS). The session began with the welcome address by L.G.Subhashini, II B.Sc CS(SSS) ‘B’. The presidential address was given by the Principal, Dr.B.Ramamoorthy. Dr.S.Priya, Dean-Academics addressed the students and filled the atmosphere with

positive vibrations. The felicitation address was delivered by the Head of the Department, Mrs.N.Anuradha. The session was handled by the Chief Guest Mr.M. Balamanikandeswaran, Trainer, Synergy School of Business Skills, Madurai. He explained Digital Marketing and Social Marketing in an interactive manner. After the session the students gave feedback. The vote of thanks was proposed by V.Uma, II B.Sc CS(SSS) ‘B’.

DEPARTMENT OF FS&PM National Nutrition Month Celebration

The Department of Food Science and Processing Management celebrated “National Nutrition Month - September, 2019”. As part of this celebration the Department organized an Inter Departmental Competition and an Inter Collegiate Competition in our college from 3rd to 6th September 2019 and 27th September 2019, respectively. In the Inter departmental Competitions four events– Poster making, Fireless Cooking, Hunger Hunt and Face Painting were conducted. 80 students from various departments of our 6

college participated and won prizes. The Inter Collegiate Competition “SEDTIOT” – a Thirst for Nutrition, was organized on 27th, September 2019 at the Nautical Science AV Hall. The Programme started at 10.00am with a prayer song. Dr. B. Ramamoorthy, Principal of SLCS delivered the presidential address. Dr. R. L. Ramnath, IQAC Advisor and Dr. S. Priya, Dean, SLCS felicitated the gathering. Dr. R. Durgadevi, Asst. Prof. and Head (i/c), FS&PM delivered the welcome address. Mrs. V. Suganya, Senior Clinical Dietician, Apollo Speciality Hospital, Madurai, gave a wonderful lecture on Life Style Modification with Nutrition. Totally, 63 participants from various colleges in and around Madurai participated in the program. They participated in various events such as Turn Coat, Spot Photography, Poster Making, Fireless Cooking, Nutri Quiz, Ad Act and Fashion Parade. Participation Certificates were issued to all the participants of both Interdepartmental and Intercollegiate competitions. The overall trophy was won by EMG Yadava Women’s College, Madurai. The Valediction started at 4.00 pm. Ms. D. Subhashree, Asst. Prof.,FS&PM delivered the valedictory address and Mrs. M. Kavitha, Asst. Prof., FS&PM delivered the vote of thanks.

Mr.G.Rajamurthy, Director, Global Institute of Foreign Trade, Madurai & Singai Coirs Cluster Private Limited, Sivagangai was invited as the resource person. The resource person highlighted the various skills and competencies needed in the job market. He also pointed out the means of maintaining a positive attitude towards employment.
