Cuentas Inaugration

Cuentas (Department) Association was inaugurated for this academic year in the Seminar Hall on 2nd August, 2019. The Welcome address was given by Ms.Selvameena of III B.Com(B&I) and the Inaugural address was given by Mrs. V.Padmavathy, HoD, where-in she announced the Department torch bearers-Ms.Anjana as President, B.Gokulnath as Vice-president and Ms Vigneshwari as Secretary. Finally, the Vote of thanks was given

by Ms.Vigneshwari of II B.Com(B&I).

Freshers’ Day Programme

The Freshers’ Day Programme for the I B.Com(B&I) students was organized by the Department of Commerce on 19.07.2019.

The programme commenced with a Prayer, followed by the Welcome Address delivered by– Ms.Selvameena of III B.Com(B&I). The key note address was delivered by Ms. V. Padmavathy – Head of the Department. Dr.(Mrs).S.Gurupriya, Ms.B.Shanmugapriya and Mr R.Damotharan – Asst.

Professors conducted the Ice Breaking Sessions.

The Second and Final year Students of B.Com(B&I) organized the programme. The programme ended with the Vote of Thanks.

Department of Commerce Career Counseling

The Department of B.Com(B&I) organized an Orientation Programme on “Company Secretaryship” on July 19, 2019. Mr.T.Raja – Office-In-charge and CA Mr.Ganesan, Secretary from ‘The Institute of Company Secretaryship of India’ had an interactive session with the students of B.Com. First Year and Second Year. They educated them about the Corporate Secretaryship program and its career opportunities. Many students conveyed their willingness to join the Corporate Secretaryship course.

Peer Teaching

Peer mediated instructional strategies involving students working together on academic tasks in a manner that promotes responsibility for their own and their partners’ learning. As part of peer teaching, Ms.Rubalakshmi of III B.Com (B&I) handled classes for the I B.Com(B&I).

Viva-Voce Examination

As part of academic enhancement, the final year B.Com students presented their Internship Tr a i n i n g Report through PowerPoint pre s e nt at i ons in the seminar Hall. The panel members were Mrs. V.Padmavathy, HoD, Mrs.S.Gurupriya, Ms.B.Shanmugapriya and Mr.R.Damotharan, Asst. Professors.

Department of CS Report on Value Added Course

The Department of Computer Science (SSS) conducted value added courses on “Python Programming” for the III year CS students and “Security Fundamentals” for the II year CS students from 22.07.2019 to 30.07.2019.

Mr.Naga Kumar, CoE, Metrolab, Hyderabad was the trainer. The students were trained in the basics of Python Programming. Training was given to the second year students on the following topics - Operating System Security, Security Layer, Network Security and Security Software. The hands-on session was very helpful to the students to appear for MTA examinations in Python Programming and Security Fundamentals. The students were trained with scenario based exercises and assignments, which would be helpful for the students to take up Microsoft International Certifications. On 30.07.2019, the students attended the Certification examination, online.

Alumni Interaction

On 02.08.2019 an alumnus of Computer Science department, Mr.Suriya Narayanan (Batch: 2016 – 2019) currently working as Software Developer , Zerame Solutions, Chennai interacted with the I year CS (SSS) students. He shared his experience and explained the resource availability and utilization at SLCS for the student community. He also motivated the students to do many projects and to concentrate more on studies for a better living. Mr. Suriya Narayanan enlightened the students about the career opportunities in Security Systems and its scope in industries and other sectors. The students were well motivated through this session.

ANJAC Intercollegiate Meet Report

The III year students of Computer Science (SSS) Department (16 students accompanied by a faculty) participated in the InterCollegiate Meet “STRATA�, conducted by Ayya Nadar Janaki Ammal College, Sivakasi on 09.08.2019. The students participated in various events. N.Ashiq Ahemed and P.Jeraled Giltus were awarded Runners Up in Paper Presentation. The students got to know about the culture of ANJAC College and had the chance to interact with other college students. The experience helped the students to improve themselves.

Career Guidance Report

On behalf of the Department of CS, a Career Guidance programme was organized on 20.08.2019 for the II B.Sc CS (SSS) & III B.Sc CS(SSS) students in the Seminar Hall. Mrs. N.Anuradha, HoD, Dept. of CS introduced the Chief Guest, Mr.S.Vivek, CEO, Ozone Cyber Security, Trichy.

The Chief Guest shared his industry experience and the various job opportunities available in the IT industry especially in the Cyber Security field. He also encouraged students to undergo training for clearing Ethical Hacking Certification.

Department of MC & HM Extension activity

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized an extension activity in Nedumadurai Government School on 31/07/2019. Our Department faculty members Mr.C.SURESH KUMAR HoD, Mrs G.S. Subbulakshmi, & Mr.P. Anand, Asst Prof. presented PPT presentations with detailed explanation to the students to create awareness on Food Safety and Hygiene in their day- to -day lives.

Career Counseling Program

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized a Career Counseling Program for the third year students on 02.08.2019. Mr. Shankar presently working in China as Technical Manager in Chemistry shared his experience with the students. The following points were discussed with the students.

1. The Food Habits in China.

2. Herbs available and their usages as Food.

3. Job opportunities in the Hotel Industry in China.

Course Committee Meeting

The Dept. of MC & HM conducted a Course Committee Meeting on 16.08.2019 at 12.30 p.m. for the I , II and III year students.

The following points were discussed in this meeting: 1.

Students deficiencies related to the course with remedial actions 2.

Lesson Plan and Subject Coverage.

Department Activities

Food Safety Management Training

The Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized a Certificate Programme on ‘Food Safety Management’ offered

by FOSTAC for the I, II and III year students on 21.08.2019 and 22.08.2019 (two days).

202 students from MC&HM & 27 students from FS&PM actively participated in this programme. The chief guest, Dr. Pasupathy Venkat Food Safety to FHRAI, SIHRA, HRAI, HEAI, TNBF and Diamond Trainer on FOSTAC Chennai, gave a wonderful session relating to various Safety, Food Law and Regulation in food. The students were finally evaluated by giving them a written Test and feedback were given.

Department of Networking Extension Activity

Five students and one staff from the Department of Networking went to CNN Primary School, Koodakovil on 01.08.19 for an extension activity.

The students assembled and shifted the systems to the new computer laboratory. With the help of an Air blower they cleaned the internal components of the system and checked the hardware and software configuration.

Students demonstrated the computer and its functionality. It was a good exposure for the students and also a hands-on experience.

Department of FS & PM Certificate Course

The Department of Food Science and Processing Management organized a one day certificate course on “Food Safety Training & Certification offered by FOSTAC “ on 22.08.2019 in our College along with the Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Managemnt. The Chief Guest, Dr.Pasupathi presented informative sessions relating to the various aspects in Food Safety. The I year and II year students and faculty members from the department participated. The program was organized for two days. The Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. R. Durgadevi, Head i/c, Department of Food Science and Processing Management.

Department of BBA Seminar on IPR

ZEAL (BBA Association) in collaboration with IQAC & IPR Cell of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science organized a “Seminar on IPR” on 23.08.2019. Mr.K.R.Gnanasambandan, Chairman, MADITSSIA Foundation Trust, the resource person, highlighted the basics, scope and challenges of IPR (Intellectual Property Rights). He also pointed out some interesting examples from India relating to IPR. The students were motivated to come out with interesting innovations and contribute towards the economic development of our nation.
