24th Annual Day The 24th Annual Day of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science & RL Institute of Management Studies was celebrated on 24th February 2018 at the College Auditorium in a grand manner. The Chief Guest of the Function was Mr.Shanmugam, Deputy General Manager, Canara Bank. The welcome address was given by Mrs. Suganthi Hepzibha, Asst. Professor, Dept. of English.

Our College President, Dr.R.Lakshmipathy presided over the function and gave an eloquent presidential address about the colleges’ growth & autonomy.

Mr. Abraham Pradeep, Asst. Professor, RLIMS explained the new software, Student Loan Management System developed by the Software Team of SLF. Messages received from various institutions were read out by Dr.K. Navarathinam, Deputy Director (Admissions), RLIMS.

Dr.P.Saravanan, Principal, SLCS and Dr.S.Pugalanthi, Deputy Director RLIMS presented their Annual reports for the Academic Year 2017- 18.

Dr.Rajesh Kumar, HoD – BBA introduced the chief guest.The Chief Guest Mr.Shanmugam spoke of the Career Opportunities in the Banking Sector & advised the students to utilize the wonderful infrastructure and facilities available in SLCS & RLIMS. The Prizes were distributed by the Chief Guest to the successful students in academics, winners in various competitions and for the best outgoing students of both Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science and RL Institute of Management Studies. The College Management honored all the faculty members and the Non- teaching staff.

23rd Sports Day The 23rd Sports Day of Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science and RL Institute of Management Studies, was held on February 10, 2018. The Chief Guest, Dr. O. Ravi, Controller of Examinations, Madurai Kamaraj University, delivered his special address and distributed the Prizes for the winners of Athletic and Team events.

Dr.P.Saravanan, Principal, SLCS, presided over the event, Vice Principal Dr. K.Archunan and Deputy Director Dr.S.Pugalenthi, delivered their felicitation addresses. Physical Director, Mr. P.Thangamuthu read out the Annual Sports report. “The Challengers” team won the overall championship and the Runners-up were “The Rockers” team in the intramural sports meet.

Department of Computer Science Bank Exposition The “Cuentas” Association of the Commerce Department organized a Bank Exposition on 01-02-2018 between 1.00 p.m and 4.00 p.m. Students of II B.Com (Banking &Insurance) explained the concepts and practices of Banking through charts and a Power Point presentation. Dr.P.Saravanan, Principal, SLCS, visited the Bank Expo and appreciated the students for presenting a Virtual Bank.

The students and faculty members of other Departments also visited the Bank Expo and gained more insight on banking concepts and practices.

Department of Animation Clay Modeling Workshop A Clay Modeling workshop was organized by the Animation Department for all the 1st and 2nd year Animation students. It was a 2 day workshop conducted at our Drawing Hall on 19th & 20th Feb, 2018. The program started at 10.20 am and ended at 4.00 pm.

Department of Visual Communication

Film Feast

“Film Feast” an award ceremony for creators was conducted by the Department of Visual Communication on Feb26, 2018. Our Principal, Dr.P.Saravanan inaugurated the event. Mr. Venky Al, CEO, Radaan Media Networks, was the Chief Guest. Many Students’ projects such as “A News Bulletin”; Ad films – “Pradan Manthiri Suraksha BheemaYojana” , “ Save Trees”; TV programs – “Namma Court”, “Anne Ennathu”; Short Films-“Suzhal”, “Karam”, “Chill Out”, “VeeraVanakkam”, “KadavulinThiraikathai”, “ Neer Thuli”; and a video album –“The Broken Wings” were screened.

Viscom received the “Best Fiction” award for her short film “Kadavulin Thiraikathai”, M.Preetha of B.Sc. III B.Sc FTVP, won the “Best TV program” award for her program “Namma Court” and N.Mahananthan of II B.Sc. FTVP won the

Creative Zone “Creative Zone” a State Level Inter Collegiate Creative Competition was conducted by the Department of Visual Communication on Feb 16, 2018. Nearly 160 students from twenty Colleges from all over Tamilnadu participated. Our Principal, Dr. P.Saravanan inaugurated the event. Competitions were conducted in various categories such as Short film, Photography, Creative Writing, Radio Jockey, Art and Graphic Design. Cash prizes were awarded for the winners of each category. AVC College of Arts and Sciences, Mayiladuthurai, won the overall championship.

Student Achievers from the Department of Visual Communication The Students of Visual Communication won the Overall Championship in “Spectrum 2018”, a State level Media Literacy Inter College Competition organized

by Fatima College, Madurai. Mr.S. Harish, student of II B.Sc. FTVP won the First Prize in Short film category for his film titled “Karam”. Ms.V.Priyadharsini and Mr.N.Vijay, students of I M.Sc.Viscom won the Second Prize for their Poster Making. Mr. K. Anubhav Krishna from I M.Sc.Viscom won Third Prizes in Radio Jockey and Report Writing Competitions and Ms.M.Bhamini from II B.Sc. FTVP won the third prize in Ad Film Production The Honorable President, congratulating the student achievers of Viscom Department Competition. The Honorable President, Respected Management Executive, The Principal, The HoD and Faculty members of the Department lauded the achievers for their stupendous performances.

Young Chef Conclave The Department of Hotel Management and Catering Science of AJK College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore conducted a two day seminar, “Young Chef Conclave (Connecting Young Future Chefs Season II)” comprising a workshop and interactive session on 16.02.2018 & 17.02.2018. Seven students from our college participated in the program.
