ubbalakshmi Lakshmipathi College of Science and R L Institute of Management Studies, Madurai Organized its 20th Graduation Day on 16th September 2017. Dr.P.Saravanan, Principal welcomed the gathering.

Dr.N.Kamakodi, MD & CEO, City Union Bank was the Chief Guest. In his speech, he mentioned that the job oriented courses offered by the college would immediately provide jobs to the students. He emphasized that education and sincerity would help the industry grow which in turn would develop the country. Dr.R.Lakshmipathy, President of the college said that today lot of graduates are not employed, hence this college offers only job oriented courses with the faculty giving individual care and hands-on training. He urged the students to take into consideration Digital India’s growth and fine tune themselves. Dr.L.Ramasubbu, Secretary, Mr.R.Ramkumar, Management Executive, DR.P.Saravanan, Principal, Dr.R.L.Ramnath, COE, officials from City Union Bank, faculty members and parents participated. Diabetes Awareness Program

ubbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science and Thangamayil Jewellery organized a Diabetes Awareness programme with Dr.V.Palanikumaran MD., D.Diab (MMC) for the faculty members in the college premises on 09.09.2017 at 3.00 pm. The programme was presided by the Principal of SLCS, Dr.P.Saravanan and the Chief Organizing Officer of Thangamayil Jewellery Mr.V.Vishvaa Narayan.The principal, in his speech mentioned the importance of Diabetes Awareness and also gave a simple but effective way to control Diabetes that is RED – Rest, Exercise and Dr.V.Palani Kumaran speaking on the occasion of Importance of Diabetes Awareness.Seated to his left are Mr.V.Vishvaa Narayan ant Diet. Mr.V.Vishvaa Narayan, the Chief the Principal Dr.P.Saravanan.

Organizing Officer, spoke of the association between Thangamayil Jewellery and Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science and also introduced the speaker Dr.V.Palani Kumaran.Dr.V.Palani Kumaran spoke at length about diabetes, sharing his knowledge about the types of diabetes, symptoms and the treatment to control diabetes. This was followed by an interesting interaction between the faculty and the doctor.Mr. Suresh Raja of the Department of Business Administration not only welcomed the guests and the faculty members but also thanked them.

Student Support Center - Inauguration & MOU Signing

ubbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science is very proud to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the well known NGO, M.S. Chellamuthu Trust & Research Foundation and AHANA Hospitals Madurai on 31st July 2017. Besides the Signing Ceremony of the MoU, the college also inaugurated a “Student Support Center”.

The principal of SLCS Dr.P.Saravanan welcomed the gathering. Executive editor of Sagar Sandesh Dr. G.R. Balakrishnan enlightened the gathering about the objectives of the Student Support Center. Our President Dr.R.Lakshmipathy gave the Presidential Address. In his presidential address he insisted that the Student Support Center with the help of this MoU will really benefit the students of our college. The Controller of the Examination Dr.R.L.Ramnath introduced the Chief Guest Dr.C.Ramasubramanian, State Nodal Officer, Founder of M.S. Chellamuthu Trust & Research Foundation.

After the Signing Ceremony of the MoU and the Student Support Center, the Inaugural Address was given by our Guest Dr.C.Ramasubramanian, State Nodal Officer and Founder of M.S. Chellamuthu Trust & Research Foundation. In his inaugural address he spoke about the magnetic waves which surround us at all times.

The felicitations were awarded by the Guests, Prof.G.Guru Bharathy Principal of M.S. Chellamuthu Institute of Mental Health & Rehabilitation, Dr.Vikhram Ramasubramanian, Director of Ahana Hospitals Madurai and Dr.M.Kannan Honorary Consultant Research of M.S. Chellamuthu Trust & Research Foundation. They explained that the Students Support Center will definitely benefit both, the faculty members and the students.

It was really an eye opening session for all Faculty and Students. Finally Mrs.R.Suganthi Hepzibha, IQAC Coordinator proposed the Vote of Thanks.

LCS in association with Thangamayil Jewellery Limited, Madurai conducted Teacher’s Day Celebrations at the college Auditorium to honour the dedicated teachers for their meritorious service on 05.09.2017 at 4.00 pm.

School Students’ Campus Visit

O

n August 10th and 11th 2017 the students and teachers from Mary Ann School, Madurai visited the Animation Department of our college. The Animation department’s “Roy Chowdhury Club” student members and faculty members guided them and also exhibited a presentation to them. Seminars were conducted on various topics. The features of Animation and were explained by the HoD Mr. P. Thirunavukkarasu.

Around 54 students and 4 teachers participated in this session wherein the II and III year students presented a demo to them.

The School students and teachers had a field day and gave an impressive feedback about the programme.

Field Visit to Azhagar Kovil

A

Study cum Field Visit was arranged for the 1st year Animation students to Alagarkovil to enhance their knowledge in Photography and Drawing skills. Mr. P. Thirunavukkarasu (H.O.D, Animation), Mr. V. Chenthil Kumar (Coordinator, Animation) and Ms. N. Selvi (Asst Prof, Dept. of Tamil) accompanied the 50 students. Students were taught the nuances of Photography and Drawing by the staff members. They practiced drawing and sketched live portraits.

he Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized a one day Industrial Visit to Hotel Taj Gateway , Pasumalai – Madurai on 7.8.2017. The 1st year students along with three faculty members (Mrs. G.S.Subbulakshmi,

Mr. Maheshkumar and Mr.Jacob Jebaraj) attended the Industrial Visit. Mr. Moses Jebaraj, Training Manager and Mr. Premkumar, Human Resource Manager gave a speech on career growth in the Hospitality Industry.

National Seminar on “Tourism and Hospitality Education in India”

he Department of Marine Catering and Hotel Management organized a National Seminar -“Tourism and Hospitality Education in India” on 15.9.2017. Mr. Lenin Balakrishnan, Lemuria India Holidays,was the Chief Guest. Mr. M.S. Rajmohan, Head, GTN College of Arts and Science & also Alumnus of our college enthusiastically participated in this Seminar.

The outcome of this seminar was productive and many of the students gained insight of the importance of Tourism and its development in India

Basic requirement essentials to uplift the Hospitality professionals in their own field, the Prospects of Tourism Worldwide, the upcoming of Digital Tourism based on Technological developments and the various steps taken by the Government to develop, improve the Tourism in India were some of the topics discussed.

“Vaa 2017” – A Motivational Event

laq Rehabilitation Trust organized an event titled “Vaa 2017” , a one day Motivational event for differently abled people on Sep 03,2017 at the TVS School, Madurai.

Best Short film award – “Thaagam”

tudent Mr.R.Hariharan and his team members Mr.M.Arunkumar, Mr.B.Karthick, Mr.S.Karthick and Mr.S.Ganesh Babu of the year B.Sc.VisCom won the Best Short Film Award for their film “Thaagam” in the “Rally for River Competition” organized by ISHA , Madurai on Sep 04, 2017..

The short film dealt with water scarcity and its impact in the near future.

Department of Commerce Awareness Program for School Students on “Currency Value Differences”

he Department of Commerce conducted an awareness program to orient the students of Valayankulam Govt. High School on the “Parameters for Currency Value Differences”. The school students were made aware of the differences in currency values of different countries and the reasons behind the differences of these values. These were presented by the students of Commerce through Power Point and charts.

s part of academic enhancement, Alumnus Mr.Anand Rajah (2014-17 Batch) who passed the Licentiate and Associate Exam conducted this programme. Ms.Pradeepa (secretary of Cuentas Association,) gave the welcome address, and Mr.Ananda Rajah gave valuable tips on clearing the Licentiate and Associate Exam to the all students of the Commerce Department. INDUSTRIAL VISIT – Solar Power Station

n 28.07.2017, Thursday, the students of 2nd Year Networking visited the Solar Power Station at Kaalaiyar Kovil in Sivagangai District. They learnt about the working process of the solar cells in the panel and were also oriented about power generation and transmission to the power grid. The students got to know about the cost and requirements of building a solar power station and the amount of power transmitted to the power grid.

Awareness Workshop on Information Security

O

n behalf of the Department Of CS & IT, students conducted an awareness workshop on Information Security at Sarasvathi Narayanan College, Perungudi, Madurai. The students demonstrated Ethical Hacking tools to the students of Saraswathi Narayanan College.

The Vice Principal of SN College Dr. K. Krishnan, inaugurated the function and special addresses were delivered by Mrs.M.S.Vani Sangeetha, HOD, Department Of Computer Science, SN College and by Dr. Ramachandran, Assistant Professor, regarding the importance of Information Security.

The second year B.Sc. Computer Science Our students demonstrating Ethical Hacking tools for the students of Saraswathi Narayanan students of SLCS, Mr. S.Rajamanikkam, Mr. Ashok, College, Perungudi, Madurai.

Mr. Vigneshwaran and Mr. Gowtham Shankar demonstrated the hacking tools and created awareness regarding Information Security. The session ended with the students of SN College giving a positive feedback and requesting this awareness program to be conducted every year.
