The department of Computer Science encourages peer teachings as it occurs when students, by design, teach other students and can enhance learning by enabling learners to take responsibility for reviewing, organizing, and consolidating existing knowledge and material; understanding its basic structure and reformulating knowledge into new conceptual frameworks. MR. S.SAI KRISHNA of III B.Sc CS, had shared his knowledge on Process Concepts and Process Control Block (PCB) in Operating System to the second year students during the first period on 26/6/17. Mr. K.S .Siva Prakash of III-CS, had shared his knowledge on Entity Relationship Model (ER Concept) in RDBMS to the second year students during the first period on 10/7/17. Miss K.K.Rajasree of II B.Sc CS had taken peer teaching class on “Decision Making and Branching Statement in C” for I-CS & SS student of our department on 19-7-2017.

KALAICHAARAL Department of Computer Science & Information Technology organized an event “Kalaichaaral” for the students second and third years of Computer Science & Information Technology department on 24/06/2017 from 02.00pm to 03.00pm. The Vice

principal Mr.K.Archunan chaired the function.

The objective of the event is to give platform for the students to exhibit their talents. Two teams from IT & CS departments participated in that event. They enacted mime and drama with mimicry. Students from II B.Sc IT & CS presented a mime with the theme “Integrity & Unity among Indians”. Students from III B.Sc IT showed their talent by enacting

a drama. They showed their mimicry skills also.

Vote of thanks was proposed by Mr.K.S.Sivaprakasam III-CS. All together this session was useful for the students to reveal their inner talents and gave a chance to explore their talents.

PowerPoint Presentation by Chief Guest

RL Clean Power Plant Private Limited, Kalayarkovil First & Second year students from the Department of BBA were taken for an exposure visit to RL Clean Power Plant on 27.07.2017. The various strategies for using Sun light as a conventional source of energy towards power generation was explained. The benefit of using Solar as a means of power generation over other sources of power was clearly demonstrated to the students. The students understood the various means of generating solar power.

Exposure Visits

First & Second year students from the Department of BBA were taken for a factory visit to Perrys Biscuits on 28.07.2017. The processes involved from procurement of raw material towards producing biscuit as a final product was witnessed by the students. The factory staffs were kind enough to explain the various processes involved.

The visit ended with a key note address by the Chairman.

CUENTAS – Association Inauguration The Department of Commerce Inaugurated the Department Association “CUENTAS” on 4th August, 2017.

Mrs. V.Padmavathy, HOD of commerce department, welcomed the gathering. Mr.R.L.Ramnath, COE of SLCS and former Principal gave the inaugural address.

Mrs.V.Padmavathy, announced the department torch bearers, President as Mr.Hemanth of II B.Com, Vice-president as Mr.Saran Pratap of III B.Com and secretary as Ms.Pradeepa of III B.Com were the students nominated to do the department activities as much as better. the resource persons. The resource persons highlighted the various skills and talents to be developed among students to get employed.

Faculty Development Programmes was organized for all Faculty members of SLCS and RLIMS on 19th August, 2017 in the First MBA Hall.

Our Principal Dr.P.Saravanan welcomed the gathering. Our honorable President Dr.R.Lakshmipathy presided the Presidential Address. In his address he stated the importance of NAAC and he also pointed out some questions about the NAAC. Advisor IQAC Dr.R.L.Ramnath introduced the New Procedures of preparing the Self Study Report (SSR). Then the Advisor Dr.G.R.Balakrishnan explained the Issues & Challenges in Higher Education.

The Chief Guest Dr.K.Meena former Vice Chancellor of Bharathidasan University, Trichy gave her special address on the “Impact on NAAC in Higher Education Institutions”. She pointed that NAAC peer Team visit and preparing the SSR are Facts Finding Exercises that should be done by the institutions. Quantitative Metric is what we send and Qualitative Metric is the Peer Team’s Report.

Dr.K.Meena also explained about the Seven Criterion. She stated that Autonomous Colleges should be given more focus on Criteria I & II. She repeatedly stated that each and every event should be documented for the sake of preparing. The Guest speech was really on eye opener for

all t h e faculty members.

In the Post Lunch session Advisor IQAC Dr.R.L.Ramnath explained about the new procedures in a detailed manner. Finally, the IQAC Coordinator Mrs.R.Suganthi Hepzibha proposed the Vote of Thanks.
