Welcome to the Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble!
As President of the BTE Board of Directors and a lifelong lover of theater, I hope you fully enjoy your experience this evening. And, hopefully, you will quickly appreciate and marvel at BTE's theatrical excellence and its ability to often inspire us as theater patrons to observe, contemplate, and feel what it truly means to be human, connected, and part of a community and the central Susquehanna Valley region. BTE is often seen as a vessel through which we can all grapple with deep human issues while being concurrently entertained, and that’s what makes BTE so special.
The BTE Mission Statement is quite clear and extremely succinct: Professional Theatre. Arts Education. Ensemble Driven. Rural Pennsylvania. For Everyone. With Everyone. These twelve words fully describe what BTE is all about and why the entire Ensemble works tirelessly to bring you high -quality theater. Hard work and the ongoing pursuit of excellence serve as key BTE cornerstone principles. This is the 46th BTE season!
We have been continually challenged with differing hurdles throughout the years, and we have persevered with your tremendous support. All we can say now is - THANK YOU! Finally, you can further support BTE by serving as our community ambassadors. Tell your friends all about your fun experience with us and invite them to join you for our upcoming theatrical offerings. We appreciate you marketing BTE as a favorite place to regularly spend your evenings. Hope you enjoy BTE!

Velveteen Rabbit: "I'm... I'm different."
Skin Horse: "So am I!... Be proud of the way you're made. We're both special."
I think we have all felt a little (or a lot) different at different times in our lives. While I have been thinking about bringing this particular play to life for nearly five years, this story has been rolling around in my brain for over 35 years. As a child, I remember this story being about a world where love and belief transform the ordinary into the extraordinary; a world where it's not only okay to be different, it's important; and a world where love, resilience, and simplicity are magical.
Working with this amazing cast of community kids has made this story even more special. Many weren't familiar with the book at all, so I got to share it with them for the first time. Their authenticity and spontaneity have breathed new life into the story and reminded me of the pure, unfiltered wonder of childhood. As you watch this performance, I invite you to let your imagination take flight, to remember the magic of your own childhood, and to embrace the transformative power of love and belief. May The Velveteen Rabbit inspire you to find the extraordinary in the ordinary and be proud of how you are made.
Thank you for being a part of this journey with us. Enjoy the show!
With heartfelt gratitude,
Amy Rene Byrne Director, The Velveteen Rabbit
