Publisher Spotlight: 5 Publications for Pride Month

Content is for everyone, which is why we’d like to spotlight a few of the many Issuu creators who work tirelessly within the LGBTQIA+ community and give a voice to others. Through articles, essays, and shared stories, we can better connect. This content allows us to celebrate ourselves and each other, embrace our differences, and speak up for those still fighting for human rights. 

While we celebrate Pride Month in June, these publications are worth following year-round. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do — and happy Pride from all of us at Issuu. 

1. QSaltLake Magazine

QSaltLake Magazine is Utah’s gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and ally monthly magazine. For the last 15 years, QSaltLake has become a resource for the local community, creating a space for celebration and inclusivity while also informing readers of local and national news.

The July 2023 issue covers local events and pop culture as well as in-depth news about topics like the outcome of a case involving a drag show in St. George. It also features an insightful interview with Miss Davis County Hannah Romney about being an openly queer beauty queen and serving the LGBTQ+ community in a county that hasn’t always been so welcoming.

2. Frameline

Frameline is a media arts nonprofit based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Their works include the San Francisco International LGBTQ Film Festival, the longest-running, largest, and most widely recognized LGBTQ film exhibition event in the world. Frameline also presents year-round exhibitions, including Encore, a free community film series highlighting diverse, socially relevant works.

In their film festival program guides, attendees can learn about the year’s featured films and details about the logistics of the events. As a community event with an annual attendance of 60,000, the Festival is the most prominent and well-attended LGBTQ arts program in the Bay Area. 

3. OUT FRONT Magazine

OUT FRONT Magazine is the second-longest independently owned queer media outlet in the U.S. and operates in the Denver metropolitan area. Through monthly issues, they have documented history from the AIDS crisis to the legalization of same-sex marriage and more. The magazine celebrates victories and amplifies the fight for human rights from an intersectional perspective.

OUT FRONT Magazine's June Pride issue focuses on Pride Month and includes articles about Black Pride Colorado, PrideFest, and interviews with noteworthy stars.

4. Outfest

Outfest is a name synonymous with world-class cinema and filmmaker development. Hosting virtual and in-person festivals, including Outfest Los Angeles LGBTQ Film Festival and Outfest Fusion QTBIPOC Film Festival, their 10-day events bring people together to participate in expert panels, exclusive screenings, and educational workshops.

The Outfest Fusion QTBIPOC Film Festival Guide for 2023 shared the details of the 10-day in-person and virtual event from March 24-April 2, 2023. Outfest Fusion is working to close the systemic access gap for LGBTQIA+ people of color.

5. Lavender Magazine

Lavender Magazine is an award-winning print and online publication for LGBTQ+ readers. With a primary audience in Minnesota and western Wisconsin, it’s the go-to spot to learn all about happenings in the area, current trends, and the latest in cuisine, nightlife, travel, and style. 

Lavender Magazine’s June issue celebrates the local community with Lavender’s 2023 Community Pride Awards. These awards include individuals, organizations, and allies who serve their communities well.
