GTA Consultants RE-BRAND

GTA Consultants are one of Australia’s largest transport consultancies and came to Blick for a complete rebrand, keeping only their existing logo. Blick stripped the colour palette right back using predominantly greyscale images with green highlights for emphasis.

The City of Yarra needed a recognisable brand for their Family Youth Services that was engaging, approachable and broad enough to cover all demographics and family dynamics.

We achieved this through design elements including large, curved images and a new, contempory font that makes a strong visual statement.

Spectrum came to Blick to reinvigorate their brand and capture their endearing spirit through a completely new logo design. This logo is now used throughout Spectrum’s entire suite of marketing collateral to convey their purpose: to help people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds feel at home in Australia.

The Whitehorse Manningham Libraries provide public library services to the City of Whitehorse and City of Manningham. Blick was enlisted to rebrand the organisation to reflect their modernday services and technology.

Using an existing visual idea of Hollywood lights, Blick created a polished branding solution that works for large sophisticated events (such as weddings and functions), theatre productions, and smaller community and business events. We used dynamic angles and shapes and strategic use of white space. Combined with the magic of the metallic ink, the resulting design is elegant and strong but approachable.

CityWide were looking to reinvigorate their branding and marketing material. They wanted something dynamic, that profiled what they do and their people while keeping in step with their existing brand.

To do this, Blick used some dynamic angles that have varied levels of transparency as a highlight and also a frame for their imagery.

This resulted in a striking yet personal and professional design.

Rubiix BRANDING

Rubiix came to Blick for the full package: a new name, new logo and new brand roll-out.

Strong purple and contrasting lime together with angled shapes immediately reflect the unique nature of this accountancy firm. The two ii’s in the logo are a mathematical symbol and represent the partnership between accountant and client.

Pancake Day MARKETING CAMPAIGN

Pancake Day is one of UnitingCare’s key annual fundraisers and one that Blick participates in every year. In 2016, Blick was asked to update the logo mark to appeal to a younger audience. We designed all promotional items for the campaign, using bold stacked type to represent stacks of pancakes.

AMHF BETTER 4 MEN CAMPAIGN

The Better 4 Men campaign aimed to inspire politicians from all parties and governmental levels to take action to improve men’s and boys’ lives.

The campaign included a brand concept, report and memes emphasising the different relationships men and boys have and the challenges they face. Overall, it was about a safer, more connected and inclusive society – and a fair and equal world for everyone.

Using dynamic shapes and blue as the primary colour – along with strong key messaging and imagery – Blick created a clean, uncluttered, modern and approachable design that emphasised the 10 key calls to action.

Uniting CAMPAIGN

Blick was engaged to create a campaign for the initial Australia-wide launch and communication of the amalgamation of many charitable organisations, including Share and Wesley Mission, under the one brand – Uniting.

Given the nature of the changes, the organisations and the people who support them, it was important that they were communicated with clarity but also tact and empathy.

Early literacy skills are essential building blocks, and the Before School Campaign by Whitehorse Manningham Libraries was designed by Blick to promote sharing/reading 1000 books together before staring school. The campaign was designed to capture the attention of parents with young children, and be positive and playful. The campaign included a jungle journal where parents and children could mark off their milestones and receive stickers.

Every year, Operation Santa partners with Target Australia to gather Christmas gift donations for disadvantaged children.

As part of the promotional material, Blick designed bright ‘pick me’ swing tags for donors to choose from and use as gift labels.

BROCHURES / FLYERS Light, accessible, tactile, engaging and informative; a brochure or flyer is one of the most convenient and cost-effective ways to connect with your audience, shape their opinion of your brand and convert leads into sales.

The Blick team came up with a fantastic creative design, which allowed us to convey detailed information in a positive, compelling and visual format far exceeding our expectations. The team were inspiring and accommodating throughout the project and a pleasure to work with.

Blick has created a broad range of brochures and flyers for The Centre for Culture, Ethnicity & Health.

The items are bright and colourful to immediately engage and appeal to a multi-cultural audience. Blick has also been deliberate in choosing culturally appropriate and diverse imagery.

Koorie Kids Shine was a campaign for the Victorian Department of Education and Training to promote kindergarten for Indigenous children in Victoria. Blick created campaign material including posters featuring indigenous art and design elements.

Maven Libera is a corporate valuation and advisory firm founded on the desire to build a firm with a unique DNA. Blick created a strong, sophisticated, impactful brochure for Maven Libera that highlighted their services and professionalism.

WaterAid’s call to action on sanitation, hygiene and water conveys the hope and joy experienced when these basic needs are met.

Bitu-mill specialise in road maintenance, rehabilitation and civil construction. The cover imagery enforces the shapes in the logo whilst also showing off Bitu-mill’s core service delivery.

The Olympus brand is synonymous with innovation and technical expertise, which was conveyed in the sleek corporate brochures Blick designed for Olympus.

PUBLICATIONS & MAGAZINES Publications should be created with the reader in mind – considering the ways they consume information, patterns they’re attracted to and using a layout that maps their journey from start to finish.

Blick creates on-brand publications focused on your reader, with our experienced staff crafting every detail to complement your content and drive key messages.

Bendigo Bank HISTORY BOOK

Bendigo Bank was after a sophisticated hardcover book to hand out as part of a number of 15-year branch celebrations. The result was a stunning, well-received book showcasing their journey and highlighting quotes, images, statistics and infographics in a stylish and easy-tounderstand way. The cover featured a beautiful silver foil on the lettering, which added a special touch to the keepsake.

Fresh State MAGAZINE

Fresh State approached Blick to update their Fresh State of Affairs magazine to make it more modern and approachable. Blick created a fresh, contemporary concept that also reflects tradition. Using splashes of watercolour sketches to complement the photography throughout, and a mix of fonts, the resulting design is unique and relevant to each article while simultaneously ensuring a consistent look and feel overall.

Throughout Armcor’s comprehensive Buyers Guide – comprising clearly defined product sections, technical drawings and specifications – images of nature invoke a sense of being in a fresh, comfortable environment.

WaterAid INCLUSIVE WASH REPORT + CD

Inspiring field imagery paired with colour coding allows WASH practitioners to find project summaries relevant to their area of expertise in the printed publication. Full reports of each project can be found in PDF format on the included CD resource.

Victorian Government BEST START PUBLICATION

Plan GENDER WASH TOOL

In this Monitoring tool, the handbook text is set to large to aid comprehension by non-primary English speakers. Since publication, the handbook has been translated into Lao and reprinted.

Blick flew to Vietnam for a three-day photoshoot to provide images for these photo flash cards. They are used in conjunction with the easy–to– follow handbook.

Blick created an engaging report communicating the Department of Education and Training’s Best Start program and its new direction. We used fun, bright colours, lots of white space and illustrations to highlight the kinder experience. We also used the organic shapes from the department’s logo to carry their brand throughout, combining this with positive, multicultural photos and case studies.

A limited number of pages to convey significant research findings meant we had to cleverly maximise space in this report, which was presented to the Australian Government in Canberra. Our solution – using images as part of the white space.

The Hopes and Dreams report uses a custom arrow die-cut to symbolise a positive direction for youth and the nation’s future.

Findings are interspersed with watercolour collages, adding life to the content.

Carers Australia MAGAZINE

Carers news is published across several Australian States for members of Carers Australia. The publication features articles to encourage and support fulltime carers.

City of Whitehorse INVESTMENT PROSPECTUS

The City of Whitehorse launched the city’s new investment prospectus for Business Week.

The prospectus was an impressive piece of communication highlighting and promoting investment and development opportunities in the City of Whitehorse.

It included a 24-page booklet with aerial photos of landmarks, as well as maps, bold titles and prominent images throughout.

It was finished in a dark charcoal, with subtle silver foil highlights and a die-cut title that brought the aerial photography through for some warmth.

Merri Health PLANNING KIT

The brief for the NDIS Consumer Planning Kit was to create an engaging, easy-to-understand booklet supporting Merri Health clients eligible for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) to plan for their application. It was especially crucial to ensure all visual imagery, such as icons, tables and diagrams – as well as the language and font of the text – met accessibility standards.

The layout was interactive, colourful and engaging. We also included some Australianthemed colouring in pages to allow clients to relieve stress and celebrate completing their planning kit, which was a fun addition and had proven to be an effective and popular activity with Merri Health clients during a co-design session we hosted.

Whitehorse Manningham Libraries LIBRARY PLAN

Blick was commissioned to design the 2017–2021 Library Plan for Whitehorse Manningham Regional Library Corporation (WMRLC). WMRLC was seeking a document with longevity that represented their ambitions as a key public resource. As part of our design work, we held a mini photo shoot at the Doncaster Library to capture inspiring, real-life images of residents using the facilities, bringing further authenticity to the plan’s design.

Deakin University STUDENT WORKBOOK

Blick was engaged by Deakin University to design the Digital Me, Digital Us student workbook and teacher guide, as part of a digital literacy project Deakin is undertaking with government and the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI).

Blick’s design uses circles and connecting lines to demonstrate the interconnectivity between digital users and the idea that as soon as you put something online, it is ‘out there’ to be found by others. We also used photos within circles to show the different ways pre-teens use their devices. Yellow was used as a feature colour due to its warm, inviting and approachable feel, and we used touches of blue, orange and pink for interest.

Winners are grinners! Our team were extremely proud to receive the 2015 Australian Web Award for Victoria in the Government category for our web design work on the Healthy Together Achievement Program.

The Reach Foundation 2014 Annual Report is a good example of this work. It is difficult to capture the brand and youth voice of Reach in what is effectively a business and governance publication. However, the 2014 Report does this well and we have enjoyed many compliments from our supporters and colleagues.

To capture the energetic and youthful spirit of the Reach Foundation, Blick designed a bold digital annual report, which celebrated the many successes of the Reach Foundation through an interactive layout to showcase the important work they do to support young people within Australian communities.

Glenelg Shire ANNUAL REPORT

The aim for Glenelg Shire’s annual report was to capture the full breadth of their services in a professional, simple and engaging way. We used bright bursts of colour, large headings, beautiful photography from the Council, washes of water colour and engaging infographics and statistics. Overall, the design aesthetic reflected a modern and intelligent composition.

The National Institute of Circus Arts (NICA) offers Australia’s only tertiary qualification in Circus Performance. Drawing inspiration from live circus shows, the annual reports from the last three years are edgy, inspiring and full of movement.

Berry Street ANNUAL REPORT

Berry Street help vulnerable children, young people and families across Victoria by strengthening families and providing safe homes to heal trauma.

To accompany the 2018 annual report design, we created an invitation for the report’s launch. Both documents are bright, positive and clean, using colourful leaf/flower elements to signify Berry Street’s growth and change and a Montserrat sans-serif font and strategic use of white space to give a polished, modern look.

Bringing Merri Community Health’s services to life, Blick shot the cover image and a number of internals used throughout this Annual Report.

This year, Spectrum wanted something different for their annual report – something that would stand out and grab the audience’s attention while remaining true to their unique brand. Blick responded by creating a sleek design that featured a bold, dark cover with a die-cut circle showcasing a colourful collage of the wonderful work that Spectrum do within the community to help people feel at home in Australia.

Inside, bright, welcoming colour blocks and open white space contrasted to create a positive, approachable and professional design.

This annual report showcases Bendigo Bank’s work within the community in a way that is friendly, welcoming and people-focused. We incorporated hand-drawn elements and a handwritten font to highlight this personal connection and sense of community, then combined this with plenty of white space and brand-appropriate colours to create a professional, modern and engaging design.

Centre for Eye Research Australia ANNUAL REPORT

OC Connections ANNUAL REPORT

We were selected to create an onbrand, eye-catching, warm annual report for OC Connections, one of Victoria’s most trusted disability support services. While adhering to their style guide, we used colours, gradients, fonts and design elements – with OC Connection’s own beautiful images – to bring warmth and positivity.

In designing the Centre for Eye Research Australia’s latest annual report, we were inspired by their ground-breaking research and the idea of performing miracles through restoring sight. We also wanted to represent the various symptoms people with vision impairment may experience – such as blurred and distorted vision, dark or empty spaces blocking fields of vision, or dimming of colour vision. We contrasted black and white and blurred/fuzzy images with their full, clear colour equivalents to illustrate this vision-impaired/vision-restored story.

ANZRP are leading specialists in technology recycling. They came to Blick wanting a professional and minimalistic annual report that was tech-focused but without cliché computer-chip imagery. We used bold sections in their corporate purple that burst out with highlighted facts and successes. Using lots of white space, the report is almost newsprint style, with contrasting impactful vibrant spreads.

A feature we’re particularly proud of is the graphic of a seed growing to a full tree as the pages are flipped, with the tree trunk symbolising OC Connections supporting their clients, who are represented by the leaves.

The team at Blick Creative have designed a wide range of marketing collateral and publications for NICA throughout the last couple of years. After designing the Dear Dyslexic logo and brand, Blick created the collateral for the foundation’s inaugural gala ball. This event unveiled hidden and unspoken stories of dyslexia from people that are ambassadors, champions and specialists, raising much-needed awareness. The design, which used an elegant font, encapsulated the tone of the sophisticated evening event. We also used rich reds (the colour symbol for Dyslexia) to evoke emotion and jumbled letters to reflect the challenges people have with reading and writing.

The World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF came to us wanting to update the WASH in Healthcare Facilities (HCF) website to be more intuitive, easy to use and visually engaging. The new website also needed to meet AA accessibility standards and be the “go-to� place for WASH in HCF resources.

Our solution was a custombuilt, easy-to-use website using powerful imagery, whitespace and a combination of bold and soft blues to engage the user. This simplicity of use, however, relied upon complex functionality, executed brilliantly by our development team.

The site makes use of alt tags, typographical hierarchy and tested fonts to ensure AA accessibility, and its library of resources and stories can be filtered by different categories, tags and countries. Upon launching, the website received significant publicity.

Grow Asia’s Digital Directory facilitates and supports the needs of farmers across Asia with access to digital solutions through apps.

The platform we created uses branding elements of Grow Asia while still being a standalone presence. The main priority of the site was functionality, with the directory at the forefront allowing for filtered searches by country, crop and solution type. Importantly, the website also needed to be visual and approachable, with the audience spanning different demographics, countries and levels of technical expertise. Outback Chef is the home of Australian native bush food. The website we designed for them showcases and explains how to use Australia’s many indigenous herbs, spices, fruits and berries, and has an online store for visitors to buy these ingredients. The site – which was built in WordPress so as to be easy for Outback Chef to manage themselves – also includes recipes, a blog, wholesaler login/pricing and Australia Post shipping integration.

Along with the redesign of their website, Blick designed a striking eNews template for the Plenty Ranges Arts & Convention Centre (PRACC).

ANZRP wanted to refresh elements of their communication through shifting away from PDF newsletters into responsive, interactive and measurable eNewsletters.

For the clean, simple, professional and modern design sought, Blick’s designers drew inspiration from ANZRP’s annual report (also designed by Blick). We combined the brand’s colour pallete with ample white space and a sophisticated 90% black content to create numerous content templates, allowing for a variety of articles and eNewsletter structures.

The team at Blick really came up trumps when I asked them to design six labels for the new range of Outback Chef Australian teas, the only hitch being there was just a couple of weeks from start to finish to complete the job as I was on my way to Japan for Foodex Tokyo.

The teas were to be exhibited at the Victorian Government’s stand and presented to a whole new market. With speed and efficiency the creative forces of Blick went into action and produced some amazing labels that I was delighted with. They were perfect.

Sultan needed some simple labels for their delicious baklava.

The labels feature on packaging distributed in local stores, deli’s and food outlets. All of Sultan’s products are handmade, so it was important the labels reflected this and complemented the beautiful product. With limited space, we designed a label that uses colours associated with the baklava as well as images and required details. Best of all, we got to eat the yummy samples!

Local brewers Clifton Hill Brew Pub wanted a label design that reflected the iconic Queens Parade, as well as matching their easy-drinking pale ale.

Turkish delight packaging can often look quite traditional.

Sultan Turkish Delight, however, wanted their premium product’s packaging to appeal to existing turkish delight fans while also enticing a broader audience. It was important that the packaging was beautiful and would jump off the shelf visually, so we combined numerous rich, evocative images into a collage representing the ingredients (or tastes) of each flavour, and highlighted this with sophisticated black to boost the product’s desirability.

Kwik Check is sold in Bunnings stores Australia wide. The packaging we designed quickly explains its function and enforces the parent brand.

Florence, who heads up Mildura’s Christie Centre – a provider of disability support services – contacted Blick to upgrade the Mildura Chocolate Company’s packaging. The company had received some great opportunities to sell their chocolates – passionately handmade and packed by people with disabilities – in major metropolitan retail stores.

The brief was to emphasise the chocolate’s quality and for it to appeal to broad audiences while being inclusive, approachable, and something to eat now or give as a gift.

The resulting designs combine paintings by the Christie Centre community with an elegant, sophisticated design using charcoal black/brown, gold metallic ink and a touch of gold foil.
