WELCOME Welcome to YOUR new College. Some of you will no doubt be feeling a little nervous and at the same time a little bit excited about coming here today – Please do not worry that is a normal reaction! Don’t panic, we have a fantastic team of Year 7 Tutors to look after you – in fact I would be more concerned if you weren’t a little apprehensive. I know that you have made an excellent choice of College. I have met many of your teachers and they have told me that you are all going to be a credit to us so thank you for choosing Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College as your high school. Dear Year 6 Student, We have been at this College for nearly a year now so we thought we would write you a letter to help you settle in. We love our College and one of the best things about it is that there are lots of students so you can make many new friends. The College has lots of amazing sports facilities such as the Sports Hall, the Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) tennis courts, multi-Gym and massive playing fields. There are lots of clubs running every lunch time and after College as well as many inter-form competitions, so make sure you join in. The Modern Foreign Language lessons are really enjoyable, and we know you will really have a good time learning new vocabulary. There are lots of brilliant teachers at the school, they are very helpful and kind. If you are interested in Music there are lots of instruments that you can learn to play, like the piano, guitar, and drums. If you are really keen you can have lessons, so book now! The ICT facilities are incredible. You can go on the Internet and surf for free! You get your own personal password so you can log on to any computer in the school. There is a vast amount of opportunities for you at this college so make sure you get involved! Good luck, we know you are going to love it. Students from Year 7.

10 Top Tips for September 1. Try to make new friends - don’t just talk to people from your own primary school. 2. Use your student planner, it’s designed to help you on a daily basis 3. Look around and listen carefully, you’ll soon gather information. 4. Ask for directions, older students will be pleased to help. 5. Organise your bag before bedtime, make sure you have the right books and P.E. kit. 6. Get involved, join a club or team. 7. Take pride in your uniform. 8. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, it’s the fastest way to learn. 9. Try to do your homework as soon as you get in; it’s less painful that way! 10. Smile and enjoy learning!
