Power bill halved By Damian George
Big raps for cricketer The rise of local cricketer Ben Wheeler.
A local man says he has nearly halved his power bill since switching to energy provider Pulse Energy from TrustPower three months ago. Chris Newcombe says his power bills have been “fantastically lower” since making the move, dropping from $250 a month to less than $150, and his usage has remained
largely the same. “I’ve had boarders here - I’ve had five people in the house at times,” he says. “So I’m not using any less electricity than I was before.” Mr Newcombe says the key to his saving has been the 15 per cent discount on weekend power usage he was offered by Pulse, which convinced him to switch retailers. “Because I was having a few people here
that were working during the week, they tended to use the most power on weekends, so that scheme suited me perfectly.” His move came just prior to the $15 million government fund released this month to promote to consumers the benefits of comparing and switching energy retailers.
