Cell tower doesn’t comply?

A Blenheim resident is questioning the lack of consultation and communication with an installation of a new telecommunications facility at 157 Alabama Road.

John Thurlow and his wife live across the road at 1 Rosewood Place. He received a letter last week from Vodafone about a cell phone tower being installed in the ‘next few months’ and ‘going ahead’. Continued on page 2.

John says environmental planning papers from the Marlborough District Council stipulate that the cell tower ‘does not comply’ due to the pole being within 50 metres from the nearest residential dwelling.
