It has been nine months since the country went into Lockdown, and Marlborough has experienced an increase in babies born at Wairau Hospital. Some midwives are jokingly referring to it as the ‘Lockdown Baby Boom’. Midwife Chelsea Hendrickson says 50 women have booked to give birth at the Wairau Maternity Unit in December this year, compared to the 42 babies that were born in December 2019. Continued on page 2.
