Mum’s hero

By Jacob Page Lyn Spice believes the quick thinking of her nine-year-old son Eli saved her life as she drifted in and out of consciousness on the couch late one night. Lyn has lived with diabetes for 32 years and she had come home from a busy shift late one night after months of feeling unwell. As she drifted in and out of consciousness due to hypoglycaemia, Eli was able to grab the cell phone, dial the code to unlock the phone and get his Dad to come and help. Not that Lyn can remember much of the incident. Eli was given a bravery award by Marlborough Mayor Alistair Sowman last night.
