Gold Star for chief Fireman to receive honour By Adam Poulopoulos A quarter of a century after becoming a firefighter because he wanted a go on the truck, Keiron Hebberd will get recognised for his service. The chief firefighter at the Seddon Volunteer Fire Brigade is being awarded a Gold Star at a ceremony at the Awatere rugby clubrooms on September 20. Keiron is the first Seddon firefighter since 1991 to be recognised for 25 years’ service, and the fifth since 1958. Born-and-bred in Seddon, Keiron joined the brigade at 19, when it was still operating out of the old Seddon Community Hall. He said he would not have imagined making it to 25 years.
