St John day By Adam Poulopoulos St John Blenheim thought of a novel way to mark St John International Day yesterday - by taking shuttle users on a day trip. The five shuttle users hopped in a van and headed to Picton for the trip yesterday. There, they had tea and cake at the Picton Ambulance Centre, followed by lunch at Subway. The minibus was provided by Marlborough Travel, with the St John health shuttle out and about. St John Blenheim office administrator Helen Faulkner said it was a good way to mark the occasion. “Usually it falls during our appeal week, but that’s now in April. “It freed up this day and we wanted to mark it in a special way. “It’s been really good that Marlborough Travel and Subway have come on board too.” St John also announced plans to launch a new fundraising programme at a meeting last night. Money raised will go towards new ambulance equipment. St John Day is in honour of John the Baptist, and is an important day for the organisation. Alan Graham and John Sigley.
