Autumn Interior Design

Jewel Shades

Elegant deep colours have been popular for a while and they are here to stay this autumn. Green, blue and purple tones can make a bold statement when used as a colour for your sofa, chairs or painted as a feature wall. More subtle uses of the palette could be in your cushions, throws and lamps.

Stained Oak

Moving away from brown furniture, autumn welcomes stained oak for a more muted, contemporary style. Monochrome stains such as light grey and black are set to be popular and feature in pieces like bedside tables, coffee tables and wardrobes. Most of the colour palettes in homes are neutral, so stained oak furniture is a great way to create a balance.

Tartan

It wouldn’t be autumn without throwing some tartan into your home décor. Tartan is a classical pattern for this time of year, however this year it has returned in the form of a more natural colour palette as opposed to the traditional red, green and yellow.

Brutalism

A 1940’s French architectural movement, Brutalism was a style of architecture with a heavy focus on concrete and harsh-looking design. The style will soon be making an appearance in our home decorations. Examples of this trend may be displayed by chunky sculptures made from raw materials and rugs and cushions with harsh designs.

Mixing Patterns

In the past, it has been frowned upon in the interior design world to clash your patterns but in recent years it has been heavily embraced. Rather than mixing bright colours, keep the focus on a similar colour scheme and use different patterns to create a contrast.

Autumn Wreaths

Wreaths are no longer reserved just for Christmas. Interior designers are using wreaths for decoration made up from autumn leaves, pinecones, twigs and autumnal flowers.
