SOMO, SPAIN In the heart of Cantabria, this region of North Spain promises natural beauty with authenticity and some of Europe’s best and most uncrowded beaches with waves for all levels.

Somo is a small town across the bay from Santander, our private surf house accommodation is within walking distance from the beach, shops and local amenities. The surrounding area is peaceful, picturesque and safe, perfect for school groups.

OUR ACCOMMODATION

Latas Surf House is an excellent private accommodation option for school groups, promising a comfortable, cosy and social stay for groups of 40 to 60 students, we’re 56 in total so perfect for us!

The rooms are spacious and cleaned daily. After surfing all morning, we can relax in the chill-out areas, enjoy outdoor social spaces and join various games such as volleyball and ping pong.

The accommodation provides everything needed to experience the authenticity of this region whilst developing surfing skills and making the most of our surf trip in Spain.

FOOD & DRINK

We will not go hungry in Spain, upon arrival at the surf house, we will be fully catered for by the in-house chefs, expect a healthy buffet breakfast, a delicious lunch and a substantial threecourse evening meal.

GETTING THERE

OUTBOUND FLIGHT ; Sunday 24 May 2026 Depart from London Gatwick: 09:25 Arrive at Bilbao Airport: 12:30

INBOUND FLIGHT ; Friday 29 May 2026 Depart from Bilbao Airport: 18:10 Arrive at London Gawtick: 19:00 Arrival back to school approx 8.30pm

HOLD & HAND LUGGAGE; Everyone has 23kg luggage maximum please note anything over 23kg will be charge to the family on return.

No liquids over 100ml in hand luggage

The trip leaders reserve the right, with approval from the headteacher, to conduct a search should they suspect any student of having any items as above

Hand luggage/rucksack* containing; Your passport (we’ll give this to you just before we arrive at the airport), GHIC (keep this with you at all times) Comfy, warm clothes for the flight No liquids over 100ml - these will be taken from you by airport security Games, books etc for the journey - no speakers please *Ideally NOT a handbag - it needs to be big enough for the beach

WHILST WE ARE THERE; OUR PRIORITY IS FOR EVERYPONE TO HAVE A GREAT, SAFE AND ENJOYABLE TRIP; You are only allowed in your room - no other Staff instructions must be followed - these are for your safety & enjoyment. We can discuss any problems or issues later Absolutely no smoking/vaping/use of any illegal substance, no alcohol We are there to surf and have fun - this could be the best school trip of your life!!

SPENDING/POCKET MONEY; You won’t need much, as all of our meals are catered for, so just a little extra for spending.

We suggest a maximum of £70 (total in Sterling & Euros) Please note Sterling (Pounds) for Gatwick and Euros for the remainder of the trip

MOBILE PHONES; Whilst mobile phones are allowed on the trip, our usual school rules apply and they will be confiscated for 24hrs if they are seen or used outside designated times (school staff will let you know what these designated times are).

We do not recommend taking mobiles on the beach - they could get damaged or broken. If taken - they are at your own risk & responsibility.

Parents & Carers, please check your child's mobile phone contract and make them aware of roaming charges - we don't want you to have a huge phone bill on their return home.

TRIP MEETING; There will be a trip meeting for parents, carers & students in the Theatre on Wednesday, 29th April from 5.30-6.30pm. It is important that a parent or carer and student attends please. Park in the main school car park and only the Nevill Avenue entrance will be open.

Passports & GHICS should be brought into school w/c 5th May - we’ll remind you of this closer to the date.

Rooming will be organised directly after the meeting so come prepared for this!
