Se si mettono in campo i sentimenti. È amore quello che esprime la copertina di questo specialissimo numero, un sentimento che ci auguriamo avvolga tutti quelli che parteciperanno all’evento che ci vede accanto alla ABF (Andrea Bocelli Foundation) e anche chi si troverà tra le mani la nostra rivista. All’interno, raccontate dai protagonisti, le tappe che hanno portato alla magica notte di Roma, notte di fratellanza, empatia, solidarietà e musica. Di uno dei suoi ritorni ad Haiti il Maestro Bocelli, inaugurando nuove scuole, distribuendo l’acqua, spiegando alle famiglie come superare i primi pericoli e le prime difficoltà, ricorda anche la musica e il canto nati come all’improvviso dal figlio Matteo insieme ai piccoli artisti di “Voices of Haiti”. Nave Palinuro, una delle più prestigiose navi scuola della nostra Marina Militare, è una goletta varata nel 1933 nei cantieri navali di Nantes in Francia e destinata al ricco commercio del trasporto e della pesca del merluzzo nei Banchi di Terranova. Alla fine della seconda guerra mondiale, la Marina Militare acquistò la nave e la trasformò in Nave Scuola. I lavori furono condotti con grande perizia nell’Arsenale della Spezia. Nave Palinuro è, oggi, una splendida unità a vela armata con tre alberi e bompresso, per una superficie velica complessiva di circa 1000 metri quadrati: l’albero di trinchetto è a vele quadre, quelli di maestra e mezzana sono a vele auriche mentre il bompresso è armato con i fiocchi. La lunghezza fuori tutto della nave è di circa 69 metri, per 10 metri di larghezza e lo scafo è in acciaio chiodato costituito da un unico ponte. L’equipaggio ordinario della nave si compone di circa 90 uomini: il Comandante, 7 ufficiali, 30 sottufficiali e 50 marinai. Ragione e vocazione di Nave Palinuro sono quelli di insegnare l’arte marinaresca agli allievi Sottufficiali della Marina Militare attraverso le crociere addestrative che vengono condotte nei mesi estivi nel Mar Mediterraneo e nei mari del Nord Europa.

Con l’imbarco degli allievi in formazione, l’equipaggio di bordo, nei mesi estivi, raggiunge anche le 140 unità. Dormire su amache tese tra cavi, disporre di un solo armadietto a testa per riporre abiti (civili e militari) e effetti personali, avere di fatto pochissima privacy, sono solo alcuni degli elementi che l’esiguità degli spazi di bordo impone all’ equipaggio.

Ecco quindi che la capacità di adattamento, la reciproca tolleranza e lo spirito di appartenenza all’equipaggio si dimostrano essere importanti qualità per tutti coloro che imbarcano e che amano vivere il mare e la navigazione secondo la più antica 9

tradizione marinaresca e nell’auspicio di venti favorevoli opportunamente cristallizzato nel motto della nave «Faventibus ventis».

Oltre alla essenziale attività formativa dedicata al personale militare, nave Palinuro effettua annualmente anche uscite dedicate ai giovani appartenenti alla Lega Navale Italiana e alla Sail Training Association Italia in concomitanza con la partecipazione a raduni di barche a vela d’epoca e alle regate di velieri come le famose Tall Ship’s Race e Cutty Sark nel Mediterraneo e nelle acque del Nord Europa. L’unità, negli anni 1968 e 2006 ha anche svolto il ruolo di tedoforo trasportando le torce olimpiche (Olimpiadi del Messico e di Torino) da Genova a Barcellona.

Tra i suoi compiti questa unità ha anche il privilegio di rappresentare l’immagine e le tradizioni della Marina Militare, e l’Italia, nel più ampio contesto marittimo internazionale, contagiando, con il fascino proprio di un veliero egregiamente conservato, la diplomazia e i popoli del mondo intero. Proprio nello spirito di raccontare l’essenza della navigazione condotta con metodi dal sapore antico, di far carezzare legni e ottoni che sanno di passate glorie e avventure e di fare immaginare la prua artigianalmente decorata che solca il mare aperto sotto la guida del cielo stellato, Nave Palinuro accoglie ogni anno migliaia di visitatori in ogni porto, che, all’ombra delle maestose vele, apprendono che lo stesso nome della nave trova le sue 10

origini nella mitologia greca evocata dal poeta Virgilio nell’Eneide: Palinuro era l’esperto timoniere della nave del leggendario eroe troiano Enea. Ancora oggi la prua della goletta è ornata con una splendida polena in legno dorato che raffigura il mitico nocchiero che trattiene a sé il timone.

A Navy Gem: Training Ship Palinuro The Palinuro, one of the Italian Navy’s most prestigious training ships, is a barquentine launched in 1933 at the Nantes shipyards in France, intended for the rich trade in the transport and fishing of cod on the Newfoundland Banks.

The Italian Navy purchased the craft and transformed it into a Training Ship at the end of the Second World War. The work was done with great skill at the La Spezia Navy Dockyard.

Today, the Palinuro is a splendid sailing vessel with three masts and bowsprit and a total sail area of about 1000 m2: the foremast has square sails, the main and mizzenmasts are gaff rigged and the bowsprit carries jibs. The vessel’s overall length is about 69 metres, with width of 10 metres.

The hull is in riveted steel, and comprises a single deck.

The vessel’s normal crew comprises about 90 men: the Captain, 7 officers, 30 petty officers and 50 sailors. The Palinuro’s mission is to teach the art of sailing to the Navy’s trainee Petty Officers through genuine training cruises, organised in the summer months on the Mediterranean and the northern European

With the trainees on board, during the summer months there can be as many as 140 people living on the vessel. Sleeping on hammocks slung from special ropes, making do with just one small locker each for storing clothes (civvies and uniform) and personal effects, and having very little privacy, are just some of the inconveniences the crew have to endure due to the limited space on board. So an ability to adapt, mutual tolerance and a spirit of belonging to the crew are important qualities for everyone who comes on board, and who enjoys life at sea and sailing in accordance with the most ancient seafaring tradition, in the hope of the favourable winds referred to by the ship’s motto: “Faventibus ventis”. As well as its essential training activities for navy personnel, every year the Palinuro also undertakes voyages for young members of the Lega Navale Italiana and the Italian Sail Training Association, coinciding with its participation in classic sailing boat rallies and sailing races such as the famous Tall Ships’ Race and Cutty Sark Race in the Mediterranean and in northern European waters.

In 1968 and 2006 the Palinuro was also an Olympic Torch 12

Bearer between Genoa and Barcelona in the run-up to the Mexico and Turin Games. The Palinuro’s duties also include the privilege of representing the image and tradition of the Italian Navy, and thus the country itself, in the widest international seafaring context, winning over diplomats and peoples all over the world with the unique appeal of a properly conserved sailing ship. To give the general public a taste what seafaring under sail means, enabling visitors to caress wood and brass redolent with the idea of past glories and adventures, and let them imagine the hand-carved prow breaching the waves, guided by the starry sky, every year the Palinuro is visited by thousands of people in every port it touches. In the shadow of the majestic sails, they learn that the ship’s name originates in the Greek mythology evoked by the poet Virgil in the Aeneid. Palinuro was the skilled helmsman of the ship of the legendary Trojan hero Aeneas.

Even today, the bows of the barquentine are adorned with a splendid gilded wood figurehead showing the mythical helmsman gripping the tiller.

Progetto curato dalla Reichel/ Pugh con sede a San Diego, in collaborazione con la Gurit per alcune componenti, per la parte architettonica e ingegneristica, Nauta Design per il concept e design di interni ed esterni, gestione progetto realizzata da Nigel Ingram della MCM. Il My Song è stato presentato lo scorso anno con la giusta tempistica e si prepara quindi ad una stagione molto intensa nel Mediterraneo.

La prua a piombo e le ampie zone di poppa hanno abbandonato le linee da yacht da competizione per ottenere una navigazione confortevole e stabile sia in gara che nel diporto. Con uno scafo rigido in composito leggero di carbonio/Corecell e paratie con anima in Nomex, il My Song nasce da uno stampo diviso in due per una maggiore accuratezza e velocità di costruzione. Velocità di crociera di 16,6 nodi e quasi 30 nodi in planata in modalità di gara sono i traguardi che alla Reichel/Pugh volevano raggiungere quando hanno definito questo modello uno degli yacht più veloci del suo tipo a livello mondiale. Caratteristica fondamentale: la notevole ampiezza della prua, che permette lo sviluppo di un’area di poppa spaziosa per

my song, Baltic Yachts 130, A well-proven combination My Song is not only the latest high performance, genuine multirole super sailing yacht to be launched by Baltic Yachts, but she also benefits from a plethora of new ideas. She oozes innovation. With naval architecture and engineering by San Diego-based Reichel/ Pugh (with the collaboration of Gurit on some components), stunning interior, exterior and conceptual design by Nauta Design and project management by Nigel Ingram of MCM, My Song was launched on time last year and is planning a busy Mediterranean season. My Song’s plumb stem and wide after sections have evolved from grand prix maxi racer shapes to provide a fast, stable, comfortable ride whether racing or cruising. Based on a stiff, lightweight carbon/ Corecell composite hull with Nomex cored bulkheads throughout, Baltic 130 My Song was built in a split hull mould enabling more accuracy and a faster build-time. Her average cruising speed of 16.5 knots and almost 30 knots when planing in full competitive mode are Reichel/Pugh’s velocity prediction figures indicating she will be one of the fastest yachts of her type in the world. Vi guidiamo poi nella vivacità che di giorno e di notte anima Montecarlo salendo dai santuari della nautica e dallo Yacting Club al Palazzo dei Principi (Le Palais Princier) e riscendendo sulla promenade, verso il Casinò, l’Hotel de Paris e l’Hermitage.

La città è dotata di capienti parcheggi, spiagge esclusive, di uno stadio, del centro espositivo Grimaldi Forum, del famoso Museo Oceanografico e di un Giardino esotico da cui si accede a grotte spettacolari fin sotto il livello del mare.

aesaggi incontaminati e atmosfere ricche di storia e bellezza, lo charme senza tempo della Costa Azzurra e l’arte, declinata in ogni forma, sono gli ingredienti che contraddistinguono les Journées de l’Art- Bre. La manifestazione, nata nel 2011, si prepara anche quest’anno ad ospitare il Gotha dell’arte.

Tante le tematiche che si sono susseguite di anno in anno e che hanno dato spesso vita a dibattiti e speculazioni filosofiche e storiche: dal 2011, anno in cui venne celebrata l’opera dell’architetto Hans Georg Tersling, al genio di Coco Chanel interpretato da Marcos Marin nel 2012, fino a temi di interesse generale come l’ecologia.

Il parco, che si estende per una superficie di 3 ettari, è un giardino ricco di paesaggi mozzafiato.

Qui, tra scenari incontaminati ed ulivi centenari, si ergono anche numerose ville in stile Belle Époque, capolavori di architettura. Disseminati per il parco spiccano le opere degli artisti: indimenticabile l’ippopotamo firmato da Mateo Mornar, o ancora il monumento che omaggia mademoiselle Coco

Chanel, protagonisti delle precedenti edizioni della manifestazione. Tra gli ospiti numerosi artisti di fama, che si riuniscono qui ogni anno in un tripudio di arte e natura.

In bilico tra natura e cultura, la kermesse unisce la storia di Roquebrune Cap Martin all’arte contemporanea, che ne diviene protagonista indiscussa. Art on show at Roquebrune Cap Martin Immaculate landscapes and an atmosphere rich in history and beauty, the timeless charm of the French Riviera and art expressed in a myriad ways are the ingredients that distinguish the Journées de l’Art-Bre. The event, which kicked off in 2011, is getting ready to host art’s elite this year too.

Many topics have followed one upon another from year to year and they have often blown life into debates and philosophical and historical speculations: from 2011, the year when the oeuvre of architect Hans Georg was celebrated, to the genius of Coco Chanel as interpreted by Marcos Marin in 2012, all the way to topics of general interest such as ecology.

The park, spanning 3 hectares, is rich in breathtaking views.

In perfect balance between nature and culture, the kermesse brings together the history of Roquebrun Cap Martin and the contemporary art that is the event’s unquestionable protagonist.

This year, the park’s beauty will be intensified thanks to the participation of important artists such as Paolo Colombini, Nicola Ciaccia, Antonio Nocera and Vinicio Momoli. What does Art-Bre mean for the Roquebrune Cap Martin area?

Cosa rappresenta Art-Bre per il territorio di Roquebrune Cap Martine?

A Roquebrune Cap Martin si consacra il mese di settembre all’arte e alla cultura, l’Art-Bre è il faro di questa manifestazione. L’Art-Bre permette di scoprire il parco di Cap Martin le opere esposte e anche i magnifici olivi centenari. Questa manifestazione sancisce anche il legame amichevole con il Principato di Monaco, che ci ha sostenuto sin dall’inizio nel nostro progetto.

Quali sono le principali attrazioni turistiche di Roquebrune?

Il vecchio villaggio mediovale e il castello Grimaldi, Il sito Le Corbusier classificato all’Unesco nel 2016, la villa E Gray. Le Cap Martin è importante per la storia delle numerose “teste coronate”che vi hanno soggiornato e che hanno avuto lì la loro residenza, da visitare è il parco naturale pertinente al dipartimento Cros de Casté, poi ci sono gli sport legati al mare e l’istituto di parapendio in cui si svolgono i campionati mondiali.

Ci parla dell’importanza del turismo italiano per il vostro territorio?

Roquebrune dedicates the month of September to art and culture and Art-Bre is the lighthouse of this manifestation.

Art-Bre makes it possible for people to visit the Cap Martin park with its centuries-old olive trees and view the works of art on display. Furthermore, this event sanctions the friendly ties with the Principality of Monaco, which has supported our project since the beginning.

Which are Roquebrune’s main tourist attractions?

The old medieval village and the Grimaldi castle, the Le Corbusier site (on UNESCO’s list since 2016), the E. Gray mansion. Cap Martin is also important on account of the many “crowned heads” that have spent time and lived here.

The natural park within the Département of Cros de Casté is worth a visit. There are sea sports too, and the paragliding institute, where the world championship takes place.

Can you tell us something about Italian tourism in your area?

Italian tourism is very important in our town and many Italian families have their second home here. We are therefore very glad to welcome Italian artists to Art-Bre this year.

Madame Kawther Al Abood come è nata la collaborazione tra Art-Bre e NERO Lifestyle?

Madame Kawther Al Abood, how did the collaboration between Art-Bre and NERO magazine come about?

È nata grazie ad Andrea Delfini che mi ha presentato Nero Lifestyle, ho avvertito il suo interesse per l’arte e ho apprezzato il suo entusiasmo per Art-Bre. Avevo già intenzione di far partecipare l’Italia ad Art-Bre e la collaborazione che mi ha proposto Andrea Delfini ha fatto il resto.

E il suo amore per l’arte quando e come è nato?

Sono stata attratta dall’arte fin dall’infanzia, perciò ho scelto di studiare architettura durante il mio soggiorno in Italia, dove ho studiato ed apprezzato tutte le forme d’arte.

Perché tanto interesse per il territorio di Roquebrune Cap Martin?

It has come about thanks to Andrea Delfini, who introduced me to Nero Lifestyle. I have perceived his interest in art and I have appreciated his excitement about Art-Bre. I already had the intention of having Italy take part in Art-Bre and the collaboration offered by Mr Delfini did the rest.

And what about your love for art? How and when did it start?

I have been fascinated with art since I was a child, so I chose to study architecture during my stay in Italy, where I came to understand all types of artistic expression.

Why are you so interested in the Roquebrune area?

My second home is at Roquebrune Cap Martin, one of the most beautiful places on the French Riviera, and the olive gardens where the exhibition takes place are so beautiful that they deserve being promoted. I really appreciate the mayor’s kindness and his interest in this event.

What part does Prince Albert II of Monaco play in all this?

La mia seconda residenza è Roquebrune Cap Martin, uno dei posti più belli della Costa Azzurra e il parco di ulivi dove si svolge la mostra è talmente bello che merita di essere valorizzato. Apprezzo molto la gentilezza e l’interesse del sindaco di Roquebrune per questo evento.

Qual è il ruolo del Principe Alberto II di Monaco?

Il Principe Albert II de Monaco è appassionato di arte e si è molto interessato allo sviluppo di Art-Bre. Inoltre un’altra ragione del suo interesse sta nei legami storici che uniscono Roquebrune Cap Martin e Monaco, oltre che alla vicinanza.

Perché avete scelto l’Italia a rappresentare Art- Bre 2017?

Roquebrune è una città che si trova tra Monaco e l’Italia, è un passaggio inevitabile tra i due paesi dall’epoca dei Romani fino ad oggi e gli italiani rappresentano la seconda nazionalità di Roquebrune.

Prince Albert is passionate about art and he has been active in the development of Art-Bre. Other reasons for his involvement are the historic ties between Roquebrune Cap Martin and Monaco, besides the obvious geographical proximity between the two places.

Why have you chosen Italy to represent Art-Bre in 2017?

Because Roquebrune lies between Monaco and Italy, being a natural crossroads between the two countries since Roman times, and also because Italians are the second most numerous nationality here.

Essere a capo di un gruppo familiare è a suo avviso una peculiarità importante?

Essere un gruppo familiare sono la peculiarità e la specificità del Gruppo Marzocco. Mio padre Domenico che ne è il fondatore mi ha trasmesso un grande bagaglio di valori. Per lui il lavoro e la professionalità erano fondamentali. Ma anche la passione che è il motore del Gruppo. Noi abbiamo una voglia sincera di lavorare bene, di difendere la qualità. Questa passione è quella che ci da l’energia per fare sempre meglio.

Noi siamo molto attaccati alla “parola data”. Per noi è importante il rispetto degli impegni verso tutti i nostri interlocutori. Io ho trasmesso questi valori ai miei figli ed è così che il nostro Gruppo cresce, guidato dalla storia e da queste qualità che ci distinguono.

Come funziona il vostro gruppo?

Noi abbiamo più attività: la costruzione, la promozione immobiliare e la gestione. Esse sono a volte in conflitto. In materia di bilancio bisogna contenere i costi. Quando facciamo invece la promozione ambiamo sempre al meglio, cerchiamo l’eccellenza.

Noi ci destreggiamo bene tra gli imperativi di questa professione e rappresentiamo una forza.

Avete la reputazione di essere un gruppo che cura molto i dettagli. È vero siamo molto attenti ai dettagli per creare prodotti fuori dal comune: è un ossessione! Noi siamo sul mercato del lusso dove tutto deve essere perfetto...

Il Gruppo è animato dallo spirito del “sempre meglio” ed è proprio questo che ci fa progredire. Guardate la torre Odéon! Abbiamo raggiunto con questa costruzione un livello di qualità eccezionale tanto nella realizzazione quanto nei servizi. Questo ha richiesto molta energia, ma è una grande soddisfazione quotidiana quando incrociamo gli abitanti di questa torre che ci dicono quanto sono contenti di viverci.

Ci motiva molto tutto ciò. I clienti sono la nostra preoccupazione principale, dobbiamo soddisfarli.

Loro sanno che siamo a disposizione e che abbiamo intessuto dei legami con la maggior parte di loro.

Dopo la Torre Odéon ci potrà essere un altro progetto altrettanto entusiasmante?

Certo, tutti i progetti ai quali ci dedichiamo sono fonte di entusiasmo. Ogni nuova esperienza è un occasione unica d’immaginare, di creare, allargare il campo delle possibilità. Ogni volta bisogna reinventare tutto. È il caso di Testimonio II sul quale il Gruppo Marzocco lavora attualmente. Questo progetto è ora la nostra sfida maggiore ed è molto eccitante per noi, come la nostra futura collaborazione all’estero.

Sono prospettive che ci permettono di apprendere e di espandere le nostre competenze.

To be at the head of a family group is, in your opinion, in some way peculiar?

Being a family is the very trademark of Gruppo Marzocco. My father Domenico, its founder, passed a great set of values on to me. For him, work and professionalism were all-important. But so is the passion that fuels our Group. We have a genuine desire to work well, to safeguard quality. This passion of ours is that which gives us the necessary energy for doing things at our best. We are very much dedicated to our “promises”. For us, it is important to abide by our commitments to everyone we deal with. I have passed these values on to my children and this is why our Group keeps growing, guided by our history and these distinguishing traits.

How does the Group work?

We carry out different activities: building, real estate promotion and management. These are at times in conflict with one another. For example, as far as budgets go, it is important to keep expenses within reason. When we do promotion instead we always strive for the best; we pursue excellence. We manoeuvre the imperatives of this profession well and this is our strong point.

The Group has a reputation for being detail-oriented.

It’s true, we are very accurate when it comes to detail so as to come up with innovative results: it’s our obsession!

We operate on the luxury market, where everything needs to be perfect... The Group is inspired by the spirit of “doing always better and better” and it is this precisely that makes us 46

grow. Let’s take the Tour Odéon, for instance: with this building, we have reached a remarkable level of excellence both in the building itself and in the services therein provided.

This has called for a great deal of energy, but it translates into great satisfaction on a daily basis when we run into the building’s residents and they tell us how much they love living there.

This gives us a lot of motivation. Our clients are our main concern and we need to keep them satisfied. They know we are there for them and that we have a special relationship with most of them.

After Tour Odéon, could there be another project that is as exciting?

Certainly, inasmuch as all the projects we engage in are source of excitement. Each new experience is a chance to imagine, to create, to expand the range of possibilities. Every time, things have to be thought out anew. That’s the case with Testimonio II, Marzocco’s current project: this is at present our biggest challenge and it is very exciting for us, as is our upcoming collaboration project abroad. These make it possible for us to learn new things and expand our expertise.

ome immaginiamo i futuribili scenari in campo automobilistico? Al di là del design, delle prestazioni e della tecnologia di sicuro il futuro dell’automobilismo è nell’uso dell’elettricità.

Un trend che le grandi case automobilistiche stanno sempre più prendendo in considerazione. Anche le massime competizioni sportive stanno evolvendo verso l’uso di motori elettrici. La Formula E, una serie automobilistica ideata dalla Federazione Internazionale dell’Automobile (FIA), è il primo campionato mondiale per monoposto totalmente elettriche.

Le 14 gare previste si svolgono nelle strade del centro di 12 città del mondo in cinque continenti. Il team Panasonic Jaguar Racing ha fatto il suo ingresso in questo mondo all’inizio della terza stagione (ottobre 2016) con la prima Jaguar da competizione interamente elettrica della sua storia: la I-Type 1.

Non poteva infatti mancare all’appello della Formula E la casa automobilistica Jaguar, un marchio che vanta una ricca tradizione di successi in ambito sportivo, che ha vinto per ben sette volte la 24 Ore di Le Mans e che ha costruito la sua forza coniugando tradizione e innovazione.

Ed è proprio dall’esperienza della Formula E che in casa Jaguar nasce la vettura stradale completamente elettrica I PACE Concept, il SUV elettrico ad alte prestazioni.

THE I-PACE CONCEPT: FROM RACING TO THE STREETS How do we picture future scenarios when it comes to automobiles?

Beyond design, performance and technology, one thing that’s for sure is that the future means electricity. A trend that big car manufacturers have been increasingly taking into consideration.

Even the most important sports car competitions are evolving towards the use of electric engines. Formula E, a car series come to life thanks to the International Automobile Federation (FIA), is the first world championship for single-seater cars that are completely electric. The 14 races on programme will take place on roads in the city centres of 12 cities around the world in five continents. The Panasonic Jaguar Racing team made its début in this arena at the start of the third season (October 2016) with the first entirely-electric competition Jaguar in its history: the I-Type 1.

The Jaguar Company was not going to ignore Formula E’s call.

It is a brand with a rich tradition of success after success in sports, having won the 24 Hours of Le Mans event a whooping seven times, and having buttressed its strengths by bringing tradition and innovation together.

And it is precisely thanks to Jaguar’s Formula E experience that the completely electric I-Pace Concept street automobile comes into being: an highly-performing electric SUV. The Jaguar I-Pace, which will hit the roads starting mid-2018,

already sounds like the maximum expression in terms of electric SUVs. Wolfgang Ziebart - Jaguar Land Rover Electrification Director - explains that “this is an electric vehicle without compromises, whose design was first sketched on a simple sheet of white paper: we have come up with a new ‘architecture’ and picked out only the best technology available. The I-Pace Concept fully exploits the potential that electric vehicles afford when it comes to space-management, driving pleasure and performance”.

The I-Pace Concept is a high-performance SUV with a daring cab-forward design that combines a supercar’s profile with the performance of a true sports car and the versatility of a five-seater SUV. Thanks to a nominal autonomy of more than 500 NEDC kilometres (the New European Driving Cycle; over 350 EPAcycle kilometres), drivers covering an average daily distance will need to charge their vehicles once a week only. On the road, the car occupies less space than the average mid-sized SUV but, in comparison to the upper-segment models, it offers wider space for both riders and baggage. The electric engines in the front and rear axles generate a combined 400 HP energy and a 700-Nm instant torque, affording the typical acceleration of sports cars (from 0 to 100 km/h in about four seconds) and the advantages of four-wheel driving in all weather conditions and on all surfaces.

According to Ian Hoban, Jaguar Vehicles Line Director, “electric engines provide an immediate response without delays, gear changes or interruptions. The improved torque that they are capable of delivering in comparison to internal combustion engines totally transforms the driving experience...”

The new Jaguar brings together the high performances and refinement that are trademarks of the brand, as well as the much admired quality of the materials chosen for the interior, which in turn combines with the comforts afforded by technology.

The interior’s sophisticated design welcomes driver and passengers in a lower sitting position when compared with that of conventional SUVs, and it is possible to enjoy the sensation of being close to the ground that is typical of sports cars, thanks to the “Sports Command” setting.

The new I-Pace is characterized by a touchscreen with Infotainment Touch Pro and an HD Interactive Driver Display.

Touchscreen, intuitive rotating knobs and multi-function buttons all offer the perfect balance between tactile analogical commands and interactive digital interfaces, ensuring that the eyes of the driver will focus on the road alone and not on finger

movements. Cutting-edge technology on the new Jaguar is there also in the colour TFT Head Up Display, which ensures the availability of all the information needed by the driver, whenever and wherever it’s needed.

Just like the innovative InControl Touch Pro Infotainment System offered with the current range of Jaguars, the I-Pace Concept system has been designed around a powerful quadcore processor, a high-speed SSD disc and an ultra-fast Ethernet network. A Wi-Fi hotspot makes it possible for all riders to access Internet, to be able to stream music, to watch videos and to look up data on their devices.

Furthermore, the I-Pace Concept makes it also possible for all passengers to use the apps on their IOS and Android smartphones by means of the vehicle’s main touchscreen.

With the I-Pace, a thrilling and unmistakable style joins fourwheel drive and the agility of a sports car: “Our challenge was designing and building an electric car that was distinctively and unmistakably a Jaguar, able to demonstrate that an electric car can stimulate one’s senses very much and be exciting to drive”, says Ian Callum, Jaguar’s Design Director.

The Jaguar I-Pace is the new electric car, come to life thanks to the Formula E experience. It will hit the streets this coming winter.

rinta, fascino e talento: un cocktail esplosivo caratterizza la carriera in continua ascesa di Yaya, tra le più importanti deejay donne in Italia.

La ventinovenne oggi è uno dei nomi più in voga nel panorama musicale nazionale ed internazionale: è lei che ha aperto i concerti di Vasco Rossi durante i tour Vasco Live KOM 2014, il Vasco Live KOM 2016 ed anche l’ultimo suo concerto il Vasco Modena Park a cui hanno partecipato circa duecentoquarantamila persone, segnalando un record assoluto, esperienza che lei definisce “il coronamento del sogno di una vita”.

Ha scelto di suonare solo per eventi e principalmente all’estero in paesi come Belgio, Svizzera, Grecia e Spagna, è da poco uscito il suo primo disco di genere pop One Day. Deejay ufficiale di NERO Lifestyle e degli eventi legati alla rivista, nonostante la giovane età Yaya vanta una carriera sfavillante, che l’ha vista impegnata con Casa Sanremo e il Festival del Cinema di Venezia, solo per citare alcuni dei successi collezionati dalla deejay.

Una passione quasi ancestrale, quella della giovane Yaya per la musica: già alle scuole elementari la ragazza attendeva con ansia l’ora

di educazione musicale. Una vera e propria affinità elettiva, trasformata poi in un lavoro, con costanza e tanta gavetta.

La musica nella sua vita c’è sempre stata: il percorso professionale di Yaya è iniziato in un periodo storico in cui la professione di deejay non era ancora alla portata di tutti, come è invece oggi, complice l’avvento di internet e delle nuove tecnologie. A new way of conceiving fun on the snow has kicked off in beautiful Courmayeur: you will be able to drive on ice and snow on the innovative Royal Driving Experience course, experiencing the thrill of going beyond your limits in a place that is unique in the world.

The Driving School offers driving courses and safe driving on snow and ice with Rally pilot Fabrizio Ratiglia, an Italian champion in his category, one of the most crystalline talents of on-road sports driving, among his victories it is worth remembering the Asphalt Rally Trophy in 2001 and the Italian Championship Gr N in 2002.

The track is 1,500 metres long, with a two hundred and eighty metre straight. It is the only asphalt track in the whole of North Italy, it is equipped with a powerful lighting system and an artificial snow and irrigation system, which allow to create the ideal conditions for all types of Test Drives on snow, ice and wet during any season.

Major worldwide car manufacturers have already placed their Test Drives on this track in their programmes.

Private individuals can also book the track for an exclusive use with their own cars trying their hand at driving in extreme conditions. The track is available all year long, both during winter and summer.

L

aila Alì, la figlia di Muhammad -che nessuno da tempo chiamava più Cassius Klay- racconta che quel 3 giugno del 2016, quando il “più grande” rese l’anima al suo Dio, il suo cuore continuò a battere per mezzora, tra lo stupore di medici e familiari.

Quel battito è il sottofondo del suo ricordo come la sua “anima di farfalla”- titolo del suo libro più celebre-, il segno della generosità della sua esistenza, stroncata precocemente dal morbo di Parkinson.

A chi era malato come lui il più grande pugile di tutti tempi volle dedicare le sue ultime forze, con una Fondazione che ha coinvolto, per un quarto di secolo, le più belle anime di attori, imprenditori, intellettuali e musicisti che periodicamente si riunivano, per raccogliere fondi, in una meravigliosa “Celebrity Fight Night”.

Andrea Bocelli è stato per molti anni accanto a lui, negli Stati Uniti, per sostenere e incoraggiare la ricerca per sconfiggere questa malattia debilitante che riguarda un gran numero di persone.

Dopo tre anni dall’Arno al Tevere...

Nei giorni precedenti ci sarà un ricevimento al Quirinale e cene nei più bei palazzi della Capitale, Colonna e Doria Pamphilj, il 10 serata musicale e danzante a Cinecittà. Accanto a mio marito ci sarà sul palco David Foster Come utilizzate i fondi raccolti?

Finora sono stati raccolti ben 22 milioni di dollari.

Tale somma, al netto dei costi, è andata per un terzo al Muhammad Alì Parkinson Centre, che assiste diecimila pazienti all’anno con le cure più avanzate, e due terzi alla Fondazione Andrea Bocelli.

In particolare al programma “Break the Barriers” ad Haiti : 5 scuole permanenti, lampade ad energia solare, pozzi per l’acqua, formazione per lo sviluppo dell’agricoltura, piccole abitazioni..

Un titolo meraviglioso “Break the Barriers”. In un momento in cui parte del mondo sembra chiudere le porte in faccia a chi è più disperato voi vi impegnate ad abbattere le barriere e gli ostacoli L’esperienza ad Haiti ci ha messo davanti ad una realtà durissima, e abbiamo deciso di promuovere l’istruzione, chiave fondamentale per accedere a una vita degna di essere vissuta. In un anno tra il 2016 e il 17 cinque scuole, S. Philomene, St. Augustin, Notre Dame du Rosaire, Manitame Dame Marie e St. Raphael garantiscono studi regolari e continuativi a 2550 studenti. Senza contare che queste scuole si trovano nelle comunità più povere e più emarginate dell’Isola. Era il primo passo da fare per la speranza di una crescita dignitosa.

E la CFN serve per sensibilizzare l’opinione pubblica verso queste iniziative Certamente. La connessione tra situazioni di povertà e di disagio sociale e uno scintillante evento mondano sembrerebbe forzata. Ma io penso invece che possa essere una relazione attendibile e anzi auspicabile.

Tante persone, anche quelle più fortunate pensano che qualunque dono il buon Dio ci abbia fatto perde di valore se non è condiviso. Ecco, è nel segno della condivisione che queste serate acquistano il loro senso più profondo. Fanno bene alla vita di chi riceve ma anche al cuore di chi dona.

Come si può sintetizzare il vostro impegno?

In una parola: dignità, per le persone più povere e dimenticate. Da parte mia tanti ricordi commoventi di persone meravigliose. Un’avventura impegnativa ma entusiasmante resa possibile dal carisma e dalla generosità musicale di Andrea, dagli artisti, dalla professionalità del team coinvolto, dal lavoro di tutti i miei collaboratori. E, non ultima, la bellezza delle location. Anche questa volta, grazie a tutti questi amici, faremo tutto il possibile perché sia una serata indimenticabile.

How did the idea of having a celebrity fight night in Italy come to be?

The light “went on” in Andrea’s mind one day in 2013 after he had sung in Phoenix with Jennifer Lopez in front of Muhammad Ali and his long-time friends Billy Crystal and Steve Martin. Even though we had already opened the doors of our home in Forte dei Marmi to our American friends and raised one and a half million dollars, the idea of an Italian CFN as a banner of friendship and of welcome to Italy, a country that stands for culture and quality of life, was exciting.

In the previous days, there will be a reception at the Quirinale palace and dinner events in the capital’s most beautiful palaces, Palazzo Colonna and Villa Doria Pamphili. On the 10th, there will be an evening music-and-dance event in Cinecittà.

How have the funds been used?

So far, we have raised 22 million dollars. One third of this amount, net of costs, has gone to the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center, which provides the most advanced healthcare to 10,000 patients every year. Two thirds have gone to the Andrea Bocelli Foundation, especially to the “Break the barriers” project in Haiti: five permanent schools, solar-energy lamps, water wells, training for the development of agriculture, small homes.

“Break the barriers”: a great name at a time when a part of the world seems to be shutting doors in the face of those who are most in need, you commit to tear down walls and remove obstacles Our Haiti experience has put us face to face with enormous problems and we have decided to promote education first, a key resource for

facilitating access to a life that is worth living. Over the course of one year (2016-2017), five schools - Sainte Philomène, Saint Augustin, Notre-Dame du Rosaire, Manitame Dame Marie and Saint Raphaël - have guaranteed regular schooling to 2,550 students.

Without mentioning the fact that these schools are all in the poorest, most segregated parts of this island country. This just had to be the first step to be taken in the hopes of dignified development.

And cfn can sensitize the public to these projects It certainly can. The connection between conditions of poverty and social hardship and a sparkling social event may seem far-fetched. But I, on the contrary, believe that it is a reliable connection and something to work for. Many people, even the most fortunate ones, share the opinion that whatever gifts the good Lord has given to us lose their value if they are not shared.

So there it is: through sharing, these events acquire their most profound sense. They are good for the lives of those who receive and for the hearts of those who give.

Your commitment in one word In one word: DIGNITY, dignity for those who are the poorest and most forsaken. I cherish so many touching memories of wonderful people. This is an adventure that is challenging, but also exciting, made possible thanks to Andrea’s charisma and musical generosity, thanks to artists, thanks to the professionalism of our team, thanks to the work carried out by all my collaborators. And last but not least, thanks to the beauty of the locations. This time too, with the help of all these friends, we will do everything in our power to make it an unforgettable evening.

INTERVISTA CON ANDREA BOCELLI Cosa l’ha spinto ad istituire una fondazione? Quale è la mission di ABF? La convinzione che la solidarietà sia l’unica risposta intelligente alle disuguaglianze mi ha spinto a creare la fondazione che porta il mio nome, concepita come un laboratorio vivo, in cui ogni goccia ha un peso nell’azione di ogni giorno e dove anche il più modesto apporto deve essere valorizzato. ABF è composta da tanti piccoli protagonisti che, da ogni parte del globo, si uniscono contro la povertà nei Paesi in via di Sviluppo e nell’accogliere sfide in ambito sociale e di ricerca scientifica.

In tal senso, abbiamo valutato di operare delle scelte precise, nella volontà di catalizzare e potenziare ogni nostra energia in pochi grandi progetti di respiro pluriennale, pertinenti appunto la mission di ABF, concentrata sull’empowerment delle persone e delle comunità.

L’attività della fondazione si muove su un doppio binario: quello definito “Challenges” attiene la ricerca in ambito scientifico-tecnologico e prende forma in collaborazione con il MIT - Massachussets Institute of Technology di Boston, con il supporto di collaboratori provenienti dal mondo universitario italiano. Il programma “Break the barriers” si occupa invece di progetti mirati al superamento delle barriere generate da povertà, disabilità, emarginazione sociale.

ABF è operativa ad Haiti, come è noto, ma anche in Grecia (presso la struttura per i rifugiati siriani, iracheni ed afgani “Elpida Home”) ed in Italia, dove 100

collaboriamo con l’Elemosineria Papale nel sostegno dei senzatetto della città di Roma e dove stiamo sviluppando progetti a sostegno delle popolazioni colpite dal terremoto nel centro Italia.

Un ricordo di Muhammad Ali. Burbero forse, ma anche straordinariamente ironico, ho conosciuto Muhammad quando già stava lottando da tempo contro quella terribile malattia che alla fine ha avuto la meglio. “Sing for me” sono le prime parole che mi ha detto, quando l’ho conosciuto, a casa sua... Ricordo che il giorno successivo tenevo un concerto e lui era in prima fila: mi sono presentato in palcoscenico indossando i guantoni da boxe che mi aveva donato il giorno precedente e gli ho dedicato il “Nessun dorma” dalla Turandot, un’aria che calza perfettamente con il suo profilo, icona di coraggio ed impegno civile. Ho saputo della sua scomparsa mentre stavo tenendo un concerto, negli Stati Uniti, a due ore d’aereo da lui... E gli ho dedicato ancora una volta la medesima aria, condividendo con la platea una riflessione che vale anche oggi: mi piace pensarlo lassù in cielo, generoso e forte, a combattere ancora per un mondo migliore.

Perché Roma, per la prossima CFN? Roma è uno scrigno inesauribile di meraviglie, è la capitale mondiale della cristianità, è un immenso museo a cielo aperto, dove si respirano millenni di storia... Il fascino straordinario che esercita fa sì che resti una delle mete più amate ed ambite dai

viaggiatori di tutti i continenti. Goethe scrisse, di Roma: “In questo luogo si riallaccia l’intera storia del mondo, ed io conto di essere nato una seconda volta, il giorno in cui vi ho messo piede”. È un augurio di rinnovamento che facciamo nostro, certi d’essere sempre in numero crescente a ritenere, come ho detto poc’anzi, che la solidarietà sia l’unico antidoto concreto ed urgente alle diseguaglianze.

AN INTERVIEW WITH ANDREA BOCELLI What prompted you to start a foundation? What is ABF’s mission?

The conviction that solidarity is the only intelligent response to inequality prompted me to start the foundation that bears my name, conceived as a living laboratory in which every drop counts in the way of daily efforts and where even the most modest contribution must be cherished. ABF is made up of many smaller protagonists who, in all parts of the world, unite against poverty in developing countries and by taking on challenges both social and concerning scientific research. We have decided to make specific choices that in match our intent, concentrating and strenghtening all of our energy inside a few great long-time projects, as per ABF’s mission, all of which focus on the empowerment of individuals and the community. The foundation’s activities run along two tracks. One is called “Challenges” and it deals with research both scientific and technology-related and its concrete manifestation is our collaboration with Boston’s MIT (Massachussetts Institute of Technology), with the assistance of collaborators from Italian universities. The other track is the “Break the barriers” program, with projects aimed at tearing down the barriers resulting from poverty, disability, and social segregation. ABF operates in Haiti, as you know, but also in Greece inside the Elpida Home facility for refugees from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, and in Italy, where we work with the Office of Papal Charities to help Rome’s homeless population and where we are developing projects in support of those who were hit by the recent earthquakes in Central Italy.

Can you share a memory of Muhammad Ali? He was testy, perhaps, but also extraordinarily “ironic”. I first met him when he had already for some time been fighting the terrible disease that, in the end, got the best of him. This was at his home, and his first words were “Sing for me”... I remember that on the following day I had a concert and there he was, sitting front row: I went onstage wearing the boxing gloves that he had given me as a gift on the previous day and I dedicated Turandot’s “Nessun dorma” to him, an aria that fit him like a glove, since he was such an icon of courage and social commitment. I learned about his 101

death while I was giving a concert in the United States, some two hours from where he was... And I dedicated to him, once more, that same aria, sharing with the public a consideration that I hold on to to this day: I like to think of him up there in heaven, generous, strong, still fighting for a better world.

capital of Christendom, and it’s a huge open-air museum where you breathe in centuries of history... The extraordinary charm of the city makes it one of the greatest destinations for travellers from all continents. About Rome, Goethe wrote: “Here the entire history of the world comes together, and I think that I was born again on the day when I set foot in this city”. It is a wish for renewal that we make ours, certain that there are always more of us who believe that, like I said before, solidarity is the only real, ready antidote against inequality.

AN INTERVIEW WITH ANDREA DELFINI How did you meet Andrea Bocelli and learn about his solidarity projects?

In quest’anno Andrea, Veronica e i loro figli hanno aperto un bellissimo stabilimento balneare a Forte dei Marmi, Alpemare, in partnership con il Grand Hotel Imperiale di Forte dei Marmi, uno dei primi NERO HOTELS che da sempre ha creduto con entusiasmo nel nostro progetto.

Diversi mesi fa, prima che iniziassero i lavori per la realizzazione dello stabilimento, mi chiamò Roberta Bonfanti, marketing manager dell’hotel, per rendermi partecipe della collaborazione che era nata tra la sua famiglia che possiede e gestisce la struttura e la famiglia Bocelli. Incontrai Veronica e parlammo anche dei nostri progetti, la Fondazione Andrea Bocelli, l’evento CFN e NERO Lifestyle e, in immediata sintonia cercammo di capire come poter collaborare e come avremo noi potuto dare un nostro contributo alla loro causa. Da quel momento siamo rimasti in contatto, scoprendo di avere diverse amicizie in comune e persone a cui siamo entrambi molto legati, come Berta Zezza e la nostra testimonial Catrinel Marlon e forse anche per questo, da subito era come se ci conoscessimo

This year, Andrea, Veronica and their children opened a beautiful beach facility in Forte dei Marmi called Alpemare, in partnership with the town’s Grand Hotel Imperiale, one of the first NERO HOTELS, whose management has always manifested enthusiastic faith in our project. Many months ago, before work on the facility began, I got a call from Roberta Bonfanti, the hotel’s marketing manager, to let me know about the newly born collaboration between her family, who owns and runs the hotel, and the Bocelli family. I met with Veronica and we talked about our own projects, about the Andrea Bocelli Foundation, the CFN event, and NERO Lifestyle and there was an instant connection between the two of us, and we proceeded to find ways for NERO to contribute to their cause. We have stayed in touch and we have realized that we have many friends in common, some of whom we care very much about, like Berta Zazza and our spokeswoman Catrinel Marlon, and it was perhaps on account of this that we felt as if we had long known each other. This spontaneous connection has enabled us to mould and materialize every idea in a fast and easy way.

You are very familiar with these things. How do you combine glamour and generosity?

True glamour, on account of its derived lifestyle, lives side by side with generosity, so it is not necessary to do anything to bring them together. It has been and it has also continued to be the case that we take part in events and contribute to charity projects as well as projects,

Il glamour, quello vero, convive, per lifestyle appunto, con la generosità. Non bisogna pertanto fare nulla per farli convivere. A noi è capitato e capita molto spesso di partecipare ad eventi e contribuire a progetti non solo “charity” ma, più in generale a sostegno di qualcuno più debole o che ha bisogno di un aiuto. La maggior parte delle persone che hanno avuto la fortuna di avere molto sente il bisogno e la necessità di fare qualcosa per gli altri e al tempo stesso anche per se stessi perché aiutare qualcuno genera una intima e profonda gratificazione. Da sempre sosteniamo diverse Onlus come ad esempio Children For Peace e più recentemente Sextantio Onlus, abbiamo sponsorizzato due concerti per i poveri in Vaticano, diversi eventi per Anlaids, numerose Fondazioni,

in general, to support someone who is weak and needs help. Most people who are fortunate enough to have a lot feel the need to do something for others while at the same time doing something for themselves, given that fact that helping someone generates a profound sense of gratification. We have always been supportive of various non-profit organizations, such as Children for Peace and, more recently, Sextantio; we have sponsored two concerts for the poor in Vatican City, various Anlaids events, many foundations, among them NIAF in the United States, and projects in favour of young people, supporting their initiative, for example the Millennium Awards.

Una stessa filosofia sta alla base del vostro agire: guardare al futuro, salvaguardando e valorizzando il patrimonio e l’umanità del nostro paese e della nostra gente. Quanto conta nel mettere insieme grandi attori, imprenditori, teste coronate di tutto il mondo, il valore aggiunto dello stile, della bellezza, della storia e della qualità della vita “made il Italy”?

Well, the Italian lifestyle is looked up to, appreciated and taken as an example the world over, especially at the levels that are higher from an economic point of view and from a cultural/social point of view. The widespread success on an international level of Italy’s Celebrity Night Fight is solid proof of how powerful the added value of Italianness is.

Our locations, exuding culture, history and beauty, multiply emotions. It’s quite possible that we Italians cannot even begin to imagine what it is that an American feels when attending a concert held by a star like Andrea Bocelli in a unique venue like the Colosseum. I remember the sense of amazement, the fascination and what almost amounted to stupor in the members of the NIAF USA board at an event that we organized inside the Horti Sallustiani: important politicians, lawyers, finance and industry tycoons all in bewilderment upon realizing that they were having dinner in a house that was more than 2,000 years old. I think that we must be doubly thankful to Andrea and Veronica because of their humanitarian projects as well as because of what they have done and continue to do in terms of promoting our country.

Il “lifestyle” italiano è ammirato, apprezzato e di esempio per tutto il mondo e lo è ancor di più per la fascia più alta, sia da un punto di vista economico che culturale e sociale, della popolazione.

Ricordo lo stupore, il fascino e quasi lo “stordimento” dei membri del Board di NIAF USA in un evento che organizzammo all’interno degli Horti Sallustiani; importanti politici, magnati della finanza, grandi avvocati, capitani di industria, smarriti al pensiero che si trovavano a cenare in una dimora vecchia di oltre 2000 anni. Credo che dobbiamo essere doppiamente riconoscenti ad Andrea e Veronica Bocelli, sia per la finalità umanitaria del loro progetto che per quella che, indirettamente, è l’azione che hanno fatto e stanno facendo di promozione e di valorizzazione del nostro paese.

el cinquantesimo anno di attività Antonio Nocera espone presso l’Università Ca’ Foscari di Venezia, un’installazione in bronzo composta da dieci sculture Inside Love Love Inside.

Nella mirabile cornice del Giardino di Ca’ Dolfin veniamo proiettati nel suo universo onirico, in cui ad essere indagato è l’animo umano: le sue muse, eteree ed immobili, ieratiche testimoni dei moti che scuotono l’animo umano, incarnano la metamorfosi come metafora della trasformazione interiore.

Forme plastiche e suggestioni oniriche si uniscono alla magia di un’estetica capace di conferire un’immagine concreta a concetti filosofici.

La mostra, patrocinata da Blastness, Nero Hotels, Nero Lifestyle e Villa Cortine Palace Hotel, è stata inaugurata lo scorso 4 maggio.

Molto stretto il rapporto tra l’arte di Antonio Nocera, Nero Lifestyle e Nero Hotels: l’istallazione Oltre il mare si trova infatti a Villa Cortina Palace Hotel a Sirmione nel meraviglioso parco dove è collocata anche l’istallazione Libri d’acqua.

La mostra veneziana si sposterà dal 21 settembre 2017 a Collodi a Villa Garzoni nella Casa delle Farfalle, un luogo ideale per le sculture di Antonio Nocera che ha voluto, attraverso le farfalle, simbolizzare come ama dire: “La leggerezza della vita, le donne, l’amore e la libertà”.

Collodi è un luogo importante per Antonio Nocera che non smette di amare la favola di Pinocchio, dice infatti: “Sono trent’anni che lavoro su Pinocchio e presenterò quest’anno per le edizioni Fas - Fondazione Archivio Storico - una nuova illustrazione di un libro che non smette mai di stupirmi, uno dei libri più tradotti al mondo dopo il Corano e la Bibbia”.

Quella di Antonio Nocera è un’arte a trecentosessanta gradi, che esplora territori nuovi, in bilico tra arte, storia, poesia, musica, filosofia e dialettica, un universo creativo ricco di pathos e spunti inediti, capaci di dar vita a speculazioni filosofiche che esplorano nuovi percorsi, pregni di delicata bellezza.

Inside Love Love inside parla di cambiamento: un’esigenza naturale insita nell’animo umano, che trova nell’universo femminile la sublime incarnazione.

Delicate come farfalle, pronte a spiccare il volo con un battito d’ali, le muse di Nocera anelano alla libertà, intesa come bisogno primordiale e al contempo occasione per dare vita ad un’elevazione dello spirito individuale. Scevra da ogni forma di pregiudizio, la donna di Nocera incarna i valori delle arti e si erge maestosa sopra il comune pensiero, in un viaggio in cui l’amore è eletto a valore universale e metro di giudizio.

Antonio Nocera, nato a Caivano (NA) nel 1949, fin da ragazzo mostra un’innata propensione artistica. Terminati gli studi presso l’Istituto d’Arte e l’Accademia delle Belle Arti del capoluogo partenopeo, negli anni Sessanta si trasferisce a Roma e successivamente a Parma e a Milano: qui l’esordio, nel 1967, seguito da nuovi trasferimenti in Francia, Svizzera, Belgio e Inghilterra.

Numerose le collaborazioni con enti pubblici e organismi internazionali quali il Parlamento Europeo, l’Unesco, l’Onu e l’Unicef. Nel 1988, Nocera si stabilisce a Roma e collabora con la Zecca dello Stato. Inoltre nello stesso anno partecipa a una mostra al Parlamento Europeo a Strasburgo.

Nel 2002 presenta il volume illustrato “Le avventure di Pinocchio-Storia di un burattino” ed espone al Parlamento Europeo di Bruxelles, con la presentazione di Giorgio Napolitano. Nel 2003

viene ricevuto a Castelgandolfo da Sua Santità Giovanni Paolo II, al quale presenta la collezione di smalti “Immagini Sacre”. Due anni dopo, con la benedizione di Papa Benedetto XVI, realizza la scultura “Christus Patiens” per l’altare della chiesa dello Spirito Santo dei Napoletani a Roma. Nel 2006, realizza il monumento in bronzo per il 50mo anniversario della tragedia di Marcinelle in Belgio.

Nel 2013 è protagonista della Biennale d’Arte di Venezia con l’installazione dal titolo “I libri d’acqua”. Nel 2015 è ospite ad Expo Milano con un’installazione sul tema della migrazione, presso la mostra “Il Tesoro d’Italia” curata da Vittorio Sgarbi. Nel 2016, viene ricevuto in Vaticano da Sua Santità Papa Francesco, al quale presenta il suo nuovo lavoro su Pinocchio. Recentemente l’artista ha inaugurato il suo “Atelier Ouvert” a Venezia, dove lavora e si relaziona direttamente con collezionisti e appassionati d’arte.

Ten sculptures

Now in his fiftieth year of artistic activity, Antonio Nocera is exhibiting a bronze installation made up of ten sculptures, Inside Love Love Inside, at Venice’s Ca’ Foscari University.

Within the remarkable context of Ca’ Dolfin’s garden, we are launched into his world of dreams, where the human spirit is meticulously observed: his muses, ethereal and still, solemn witnesses of the impulses that shake the human spirit, embody the metamorphosis as a metaphor for inner transformation.

Suggestions and plastic forms merge with the magic of aesthetics capable of endowing philosophical concepts with an actual visual image. The exhibit is sponsored by Blastness, Nero Hotels, Nero Lifestyle and Villa Cortina Palace Hotel and it was inaugurated on 4 May. There is a tight link between Nocera’s art, Nero Lifestyle and Nero Hotels. The Oltre il mare (Beyond the sea) installation is in fact on display at Villa Cortina Palace Hotel in Sirmione, inside the wonderful park hosting the Libri d’acqua (Water books) installation as well.

The Venetian exhibit will move on 21 September to Villa Garzoni in Collodi, specifically to the Casa delle Farfalle (House of Butterflies), an ideal spot for Nocera’s sculptures: in the words of the artist, butterflies symbolize: “The lightness of life, women, love and freedom”.

Moreover, Collodi is an important place for Antonio Nocera, since to this day he still loves the story of Pinocchio: “I have been working on Pinocchio for thirty years and this year I will produce, for Edizioni FAS (Fondazione Archivio Storico), new illustrations for a book that never ceases to impress me, one of the world’s most translated books after the Koran and the Bible”. His art is an all-around, 360-degrees art that explores new territories, hovering somewhere in the midst of art, history, poetry, music, philosophy and dialectics, a creative universe rich in pathos and brand-new tidbits of food for thought, capable of breathing life into philosophical speculations that explore new pathways, impregnated with delicate beauty. Inside Love Love Inside is about change: a natural need intrinsic to the human spirit, which incarnates sublimely in the feminine universe.

As delicate as butterflies, ready to fly up with a flutter of wings, Nocera’s muses pine for liberty in the sense of a primordial need that is, at the same time, a chance to acknowledge an upward impulse of the individual’s spirit. Devoid of any sort of prejudice, Nocera’s woman embodies the values of the arts and rises majestically above the common way of thinking, on a journey in which love is picked out as a universal value and designated as judgment criteria.

Antonio Nocera, born in Caivano (Naples) in 1949, showed signs of an innate artistic flair from an early age. Once he completed his studies at the Art Institute and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, he moved to Rome in the 1970s, and

from there to Parma and then Milan. In Milan, he began his career in 1967, moving yet on to France, Switzerland, Belgium and England. He has collaborated many times with public and international institutions such as the European Parliament, UNESCO, UN and UNICEF. In 1988, Antonio settled in Rome and worked with the State Mint. In that same year, he took part in an exhibit at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

In 2002 he presented the illustrated book “The adventures of Pinocchio - The story of a puppet” and he exhibited some of his work at the European Parliament in Brussels, with a presentation by Giorgio Napolitano. In 2003, he was welcomed at Castelgandolfo by His Sanctity John Paul II, whom he regaled with a collection of enamel paintings entitled Sacred images.

Two years later, with the blessing of Pope Benedict XVI, he produced the “Christus Patiens” sculpture for the altar of the Spirito Santo dei Napoletani Church (Holy Spirit of the Neapolitans Church) in Rome. In 2006, he produced a bronze monument for the 50th anniversary of the Marcinelle tragedy in Belgium.

In 2013 he was one of the protagonists at Venice’s Art Biennale with the installation entitled I libri d’acqua (Water books). In 2015 he was a guest at Milan’s Expo with an installation about immigration, within the “Il Tesoro d’Italia - Treasure of Italy” exhibit, curated by Vittorio Sgarbi. In 2016 he was welcomed at the Vatican by Pope Francis, to whom Nocera presented his new work on Pinocchio. Fu così che la Sicilia Sud Orientale divenne la Magna Grecia in potere e splendori più forte della Madre Patria, capace di edificare una città come Siracusa, per lungo tempo la Megalopoli dell’antichità con un milione di abitanti. È in questa parte del territorio siciliano - che giunge sino a Porto Palo di Capo Passero, antico Capo Pachino, una delle tre punte assieme a Capo Lilibeo e a Capo Peloro, per cui questa terra fu nota anche come Trinacria - che si consolidò una civiltà che, pur antichissima, ancora oggi caratterizza questi luoghi. arantire il diritto alla salute anche a chi non potrebbe permetterselo. Per chi viene dall’occidente e da paesi culturalmente avanzati sembra quasi un’ovvietà.

Non lo è però in Africa, dove per tanto, troppo tempo, l’accesso alla salute e alla sanità è stata cosa di pochi, precludendo così una grande percentuale della popolazione che veniva decimata da malattie assolutamente prevenibili. è proprio in questo ambito che si muove Sextantio Onlus, organizzazione senza fini di lucro fortemente voluta da Daniele Kihlgren, imprenditore milanese di origine svedese che, nella

sua vita ha dapprima investito nel settore alberghiero acquistando proprietà in villaggi semi abbandonati come Santo Stefano di Sessanio, in Abruzzo, per poi farli diventare strutture ricettive, dando così vita al nuovo concetto di ‘albergo diffuso’, riproposto anche a Matera tra grotte e sassi, per poi dedicarsi ad una causa sociale che gli sta molto a cuore.

“Ho viaggiato in lungo e in largo in Africa, con la mia moto, autonomamente, e ho potuto toccare con mano la situazione in cui versano i villaggi”, ha spiegato Kihlgren. “Da sieropositivo quale sono all’inizio avevo pensato di fare qualcosa per portare in Rwanda i costosissimi farmaci antiretrovirali, ma poi mi sono reso conto che vi era già stata una grande sensibilizzazione ed apertura, tanto che queste medicine erano molto più presenti dei semplici antibiotici, a dispetto del costo di questi ultimi che è davvero irrisorio”. Ecco quindi che tramite l’introduzione, nel 2005, da parte del governo rwandese della “Mutuelle de Santé”, un’assicurazione sanitaria a cui può accedere la popolazione e il cui costo è di circa 4 dollari, dal 2008 Sexantio Onlus ha lavorato per permettere al maggior numero di persone possibile di poter accedere all’assistenza di base. Numeri alla mano: “con 200 Franchi Rw (circa 30 centesimi di Dollaro), è possibile effettuare una visita sanitaria, gli esami del sangue e ottenere le medicine per le malattie più comuni”, ha dichiarato Kihlgren. L’attività dell’Associazione Sextantio è iniziata, con mezzi propri, nel 2008 e il progetto pilota ha coperto 8.000 persone. Nel 2009 le assicurazioni sono diventate 80mila, nel 2010 125.457 e nel 2011 ben 161mila, interessando praticamente circa il 30% degli indigenti impossibilitati a pagarsi l’assicurazione.

Oggi l’obiettivo di Sextantio Onlus è circoscritto ad 147

una zona specifica, l’isola Nkombo sul lago Kivu, al confine con il Congo e ai suoi abitanti indigenti, che si aggirano attorno alle 6.846 persone. Il costo dell’assicurazione sanitaria per la popolazione è di circa 26.500$. È stata avviata a tal proposito un’attivita di crowd funding al sito www.generosity.com/medicalfundraising/health-insurance-by-sextantio, il tutto all’insegna della massima trasparenza. Infatti, i fondi raccolti in Italia vengono trasferiti nel mese di giugno dal conto corrente di Banca Etica al conto dedicato Caritas/Sextantio a Kigali, sede della Caritas nazionale Rwandese. I fondi vengono poi versati

sui conti delle Caritas Diocesane prima dell’inizio dell’anno assicurativo (1 Luglio), che li girano sul conto corrente delle Mutuelle de Santé dei centri di Sanità, che erogano poi le assicurazioni ai beneficiari.

A verificare durante l’anno l’effettiva erogazione agli indigenti presenti nelle liste, sono proprio Daniele Kihlgren e Roberto Santavenere, collaboratore dell’associazione che vive in Rwanda. Basta poco, quindi, per rendere la vita migliore ad alcune persone.

Un piccolo gesto, il costo di un aperitivo, ma fatto con il cuore per garantire l’accesso a cure basilari anche per coloro che non possono permetterselo.

Guaranteeing the right to being healthy even to those who are not able to afford it: for those of us living in the Western World or at any rate in culturally advanced nations, this sounds obvious. But it is not so matter-of-fact in Africa, where for a long time - too much time - access to healthcare has been the privilege of few, excluding a significant chunk of a population that has been decimated by illnesses and diseases that are absolutely preventable. Such is the operative context of Sextantio Onlus, a non-profit organization come to life thanks to the significant endeavours of Daniele Kihlgren, a Milan entrepreneur with Swedish roots who started out by purchasing properties in half-deserted villages like Santo 153

“I have travelled wide and large in Africa by myself on my motorbike and I have been able to experience first-hand the situations in the villages”, Kihlgren explains. “Being HIVpositive myself, I thought at first that I could have the very expensive anti-retroviral medications brought to Rwanda, but then I realized that there already was great sensitization and openness, so much so that these medications were much more available than simple antibiotics notwithstanding the cost of the latter ones, which is truly ludicrous”. Thus it is that by means of the establishment in 2005 by the Rwandan government of “Mutuelle de Santé”, medical insurance that’s accessible to the population at a cost of about $ 4, Sexantio Onlus has been busy since 2008 at making it possible for the biggest number of persons to have access to basic assistance.

Hard figures at hand: “With 200 Rw francs (about $ 0.30), it is possible to have a medical appointment, have blood tests and get medication for the commonest disorders”, says Kihlgren. Sextantio’s operations commenced in 2008, selffinanced, and the pilot programme has so far taken care of 8,000 individuals. In 2009, the number of insurance policies 154

reached 80,000; in 2010 125,457; and in 2011 a good 161,000, covering about 30% of the poor who had not previously been in a position to afford medical insurance. Currently, Sextantio’s target is restricted to a specific area, the island of Nkombo, on Lake Kivu, at the border with Congo, and its destitute inhabitants, i.e. some 6,846 people. The cost of insurance coverage is around $ 26,500. Crowd-funding operations have kicked off at www.generosity.com/medicalfundraising/health-insurance-by-sextantio, all in the utmost transparency. Simply put: funds raised in Italy are transferred in the month of June from the Banca Etica account to the Caritas/Sextantio account in Kigali, where the Rwandan Caritas is headquartered. The funds are subsequently deposited on the Diocesan Caritas accounts prior to the beginning of the insurance year (1 July), from which they are ㄰ subsequently transferred to the health centres’ Mutuelle de Santé banking accounts, and the centres proceed to provide㤵 insurance and care to the beneficiaries. Daniele Kihlgren himself and Roberto Santavenere (a collaborator of the㜵 association who lives in Rwanda) monitor the actual services provided to the poor on the lists during the course of the insurance year. It doesn’t take much, therefore, to make the㈵ lives of some persons better. A little gesture costing no more 㔀 than an aperitif, made with the heart in order to guarantee access to basic healthcare to those who cannot afford it.

entor-me Il Mentoring: un metodo antico per apprendere e formarsi.

Non bisogna fermarsi nell’apprendere, anche quando si inizia a lavorare e sorge la necessità di avere specifiche competenze e skills che non sempre si riescono ad acquisire quando si comincia la carriera professionale. Nasce per questo motivo l’innovativo progetto Mentor Me, istituito per dare supporto ai giovani professionisti dell’hôtellerie e sostenuto dall’EHMA (European Hotel Managers Association), organizzazione nata nel 1974 a Roma, dove ha sede tutt’ora, dedita al miglioramento delle capacità professionali allo scopo di ampliare la qualità dei servizi ai clienti. Attualmente l’associazione è composta da circa 405 direttori che gestiscono, in 29 paesi diversi, i più prestigiosi hotel europei e rappresentano 300 hotel con 80.000 stanze e 62.000 dipendenti.

Mentor Me pone di nuovo l’accento su una figura

da sempre esistita che però negli ultimi aveva perso il suo potere, quella del mentore. “Il mentore ha un ruolo fondamentale, perché i giovani stanno perdendo l’opportunità di credere in valori che sono il fondamento della società, dell’importanza del ruolo, della competenza, ma ancora di più del trasferire la passione, l’amore per il proprio lavoro e la sensibilità ai propri collaboratori e clienti”, ha spiegato Roberto Cappelletto, General Manager del Villa Cortine Palace di Sirmione e leader del Comitato per l’Innovazione del progetto Mentor Me, nonché socio EHMA. Attraverso l’attività di mentoring, il collega più esperto, tramite le classiche tecniche di coaching (ascoltare, interrogare, chiarire e riformulare), supporta il manager più inesperto ad ampliare le conoscenze e a comprendere meglio il lavoro e 173

il luogo di lavoro, con tutta la complessità della gestione delle risorse umane che questo comporta.

Il mentor aiuta il mentee ad esprimere potenzialità rimaste ancora inespresse, attraverso un rapporto di assoluta fiducia.

“La prima sessione, appena conclusa, - ci spiega Cappelletto - ha coinvolto 14 mentor ed altrettanti mentees, giovani manager del settore alberghiero che hanno aderito per avere una formazione capace di far decollare la loro carriera e di aumentare il loro networking contribuendo anche ad accrescere le conoscenze in ambito tecnologico del collega più esperto. Un confronto reciproco stimolante e un modo nuovo per apprendere e formarsi attraverso casi pratici ed esperienze sul campo.

Il Comitato per l’Innovazione è coordinato da Valentina Rettondini, Segretaria Generale HEMA Europa, e riunisce, insieme a Robetto Cappelletto, Ivan Artolli, General Manager Hotel De Paris Montecarlo, Damiano De Crescenzo, General Manager Planetaria Hotels Milano, Giuseppe Mariano, General Manager Risorgimento Resort Lecce, Giuseppe Rossi, General Manager Hotel Splendid Royal Lugano.

Inoltre il Comitato vanta la presenza del Delegato Nazionale Italia EHMA Ezio Indiani, General Manager Hotel Principe di Savoia Milano ed insignito, nel 2002, del Premio Hermes come migliore direttore d’albergo del mondo.

Chiediamo loro anche di leggere più testi attinenti alla crescita professionale e insieme cerchiamo di capirne il sunto e mettere a frutto, ognuno a modo suo, quanto appreso. Ogni mentore e mentee è diverso e cresciuto maturando esperienze differenti.

La capacità del mentor è di fare riflettere a fondo il giovane talento, tenerlo concentrato sugli obiettivi, stimolare la sua creatività ed entusiasmo e far capire l’importanza della sua “sensibilità” e “adattabilità”. Far capire loro che il cambiamento è continuo e che spesso il non cambiare è l’errore più grave che una persona possa fare. I commenti di tutti i nostri mentees sono stati estremamente positivi e all’interno di EHMA Italia pensiamo di poter allargare il gruppo del Mentor sino ad arrivare a trenta coppie nel prossimo anno. Sulla scia del successo dell’EHMA Italia, anche l’EHMA internazionale sta finalizzando il progetto Mentor Me da estendere a tutte le delegazioni europee”.

Mentoring: a traditional learning and training method.

We should never stop learning, especially when we start our working lives and find we need specific competencies and skills that can sometimes only be learnt on the job.

This is the thinking behind the innovative Mentor Me project, established to support young professionals in the hotel industry and sponsored by the EHMA (European Hotel Managers Association), an organisation founded in 1974 in Rome, where it is still based, with the mission of improving professional skills in order to enhance the quality of customer service. The association currently has about 405 member managers working in 29 different countries, who run Europe’s top hotels and represent 300 establishments with 80,000 rooms and 62,000 employees.

Mentor Me puts the spotlight back on a role that has always existed but which had lost some of its power in recent times: that of the mentor. “The mentor’s role is fundamental, because young people are losing the chance to acquire a belief in values which are the foundation of our society: the importance of their role and skills, but above all a passion for and love of their job and awareness of the needs of their staff and customers”, explained Roberto Cappelletto, General Manager of the Villa Cortine Palace at Sirmione, leader of the Mentor Me Innovation Committee and EHMA member.

“They need support from people who can help them to grow”.

In the mentoring process, the more experienced colleague uses the standard coaching techniques (listening, questioning, explanation and reformulation) to support the less highly skilled manager in extending his or her knowledge and gaining

a fuller understanding of the job and workplace, with all the complex human resources management which this implies.

The mentor helps the mentee to express previously unused potentials, through a relationship of absolute trust.

“The first session, which has just come to an end”, explains Mr Cappelletto, “involved 14 mentors and the same number of mentees, all young hotel industry managers who took the opportunity for training that would help their careers to take off and extend their networks, while also helping to grow the technological know-how of the more experienced colleague. A stimulating mutual exchange and a new way of learning and acquiring training through practical cases and experience in the field”.

The Innovation Committee is coordinated by Valentina Rettondini, Secretary General of EHMA Europe and includes, together with Roberto Cappelletto, Ivan Artolli, General Manager Hotel De Paris Monte Carlo, Damiano De Crescenzo, General Manager Planetaria Hotels Milan, Giuseppe Mariano, General Manager Risorgimento Resort Lecce, and Giuseppe Rossi, General Manager Hotel Splendid Royal Lugano.

The Committee is also proud to include Italy’s EHMA National Delegate Ezio Indiani, General Manager Hotel Principe di Savoia Milan, who received the 2002 Hermes Award for the world’s best hotel manager.

“Our mentoring project has proved very popular both with mentees and with mentors”, Mr Indiani commented. “The aim of the project is to use and exploit the many years of experience the EHMA member managers have acquired over their long careers. We at EHMA feel we have a duty to assist talented young people working in our hotels, to help them to deal with the difficulties they encounter in their professional lives.

We encourage them to think and to give careful consideration to the opportunities facing them. We also ask them to read books and articles on professional growth, and together we try to understand their message, so that everyone can make good use of what they have learnt, each in his or her own way.

Every mentor and mentee is different and has acquired experience from a different career path. Mentors are able to encourage talented young mentees to think in depth, concentrate on targets, make full use of their creativity and enthusiasm and appreciate the importance of “awareness” and “adaptability”. They must understand that change is continuous and often not changing is the worst mistake a person can make.

All our mentees’ comments have been extremely positive and within EHMA Italy we believe we will be able to expand the group of Mentors and have thirty couples in operation next year. In view of the success of the EHMA Italy project, the international EHMA is also putting the final touches to its own Mentor Me project, to be extended to all European delegations”.
