In this world, our obvious choice - should be, unconditionally… an original.

No matter how simple it is!

P.Y.R är en hyllning till enkelheten och en fråga om var gränserna går mellan vad som är ditt och vad som är mitt. Kan en bra idé, förvandlad till en enkel produkt - självklar och lätt att kopiera – fortfarande skyddas av immateriella lagar – eller ska vi bara ge upp och ge bort allt?

P.Y.R is a celebration of simplicity and a question of were the boundaries are between what is yours and what is mine. Could a great idea, turned into a simple product - obvious and easy to copy – still be protected by Intellectual Property laws - or should we just surrender and give it all away?

Vi lever i en värld där härma, göra likadant eller kopiera – gynnas och premieras av konsumenters okunskap och vilja att ha allt till lägsta möjliga pris.

I denna värld går spiralen neråt tills de som härmar och kopierar till slut blir härmade och kopierade av andra, som i sin tur blir härmade och kopierade.

Detta trots, att alla vill ha de nyskapande, unika och innovativa produkterna, fast då helst utan skydd, så att de stulna, liknande och kopierade varianterna snabbt når marknaden, och där kan erhållas till ett märkbart lägre pris.

We live in a world where imitating, doing the same or copying – is favoured and rewarded by consumers’ ignorance and desire to have everything at the lowest possible price. In this world, the spiral goes downward until those who imitate and copy eventually are imitated and copied by others, who in their turn are imitated and copied.

This is despite the fact that everyone wants the new, unique and innovative products, although preferably without protection, so that the stolen, similar and copied variants quickly reach the market, and can be obtained there at a noticeably lower price.

smartare och mer hållbara produkter - som vi sen bakbundna och oskyddade får se det snabba kapitalet förändra, försämra och sälja till oss som nästan samma eller likadana - men till ett lägre pris, i en ständig kapplöpning mot vår egen undergång.

We train engineers, technicians and designers to develop better, smarter and more sustainable products - which we then, hands tied and unprotected, watch the fast capital change, degrade and sell to us as almost the same or the same - but at a lower price, in a constant race towards our own destruction.

How long do we dare to avoid the barricades, in a time where everything is governed by offers, current trends and the lowest price, and where we no longer listen to what we want to hear, but to those who shout loudest or write in the biggest letters. We must pick up the megaphone, stand on the barricades and dare to express our solidarity views, for the good of the planet.

It is not me or you – it is you and me.

Similar or almost the same, but cheaper and inferior, gives us nor better products, a brighter future or a better world.

Design och produktutveckling är inte vad du ser, för du ser bara resultatet av en lång och kostsam process.

En designprocess som kräver enormt mycket tålamod och otroligt stor kunskap. Samtidigt som man, under en ständig press och stress, inte vill missa lanseringsmöjligheten där tydlig information, produktbeskrivning, tillgång till bilder, mått, 3D filer och certifikat behöver vara på plats. Idag måste allt beskrivas in i minsta detalj.

Samtidigt som att närgånget inspireras eller göra likadant är billigt, går snabbt och är helt riskfritt. Är det verkligen så vi vill ha det?

Design and product development are not what you see, because you only see the result of a long and costly process. A design process that requires an enormous amount of patience and an incredible amount of knowledge. At the same time, under constant pressure and stress, you do not want to miss the launch opportunity where clear information, product description, access to images, measurements, 3D files and certificates need to be in place.

Today, everything has to be described in detail. At the same time, being inspired or doing the same thing is cheap, fast and completely risk-free.

Is that really how we want it?

Vi lever i en värld där avståndet mellan att inte veta och tillgången till fakta aldrig varit närmare, snabbare eller lättare. Trots detta nöjer vi oss med att få fakta, idéer och svar sålda till oss genom det dagliga flödet av algoritmer som skapar det vi vill höra.

Vi lever i en värld där att söka och ifrågasätta ersatts av ”jag vet, jag har inte tid och jag tror”, och där vi hellre lägger vår dyrbara tid på ett ständigt sökande efter de erbjudande som är för bra för att låta passera. Detta har fått oss att förändra synen på produkters kvalité i förhållande till pris, för nu betraktar vi kvalité som dyrt och billigt som rätt pris. Trots att vi innerst inne vet, att billigt alltid är dyrt i längden.

Vi lever i en tid där sälja är starkare än välja, och där produktutvecklingsbudgeten med fördel läggs på marknadsföring och sociala medier, så att investeringen kan få en större och snabbare utväxling.

För vem tar sig tid att leta efter den perfekta produkten som ingen annan känner till?

Betyder detta att vi är på väg tillbaka till ett köp, slit och slängsamhälle? Eller något ännu sämre, där det lägre priset är viktigare än produktens originalitet. –Jag vill ha en likadan, men billigare!

I denna demokratiskt dysfunktionella samtid, driver och eldar politiken på kopieringen, genom att vikta lägsta pris som avgörande faktor i anbudsunderlag, utan hänsyn till viktigare faktorer som kvalité, miljö och originalitet, detta genom ett enkelt och ogenomtänkt tillägg ”eller likvärdig”– utan att ens försöka förklara vad de menar med likvärdig.

Vi lever i en värld där juridiken är duktigare på att se små nyansskillnader på brunt än likheten mellan ett original och en kopia.

Kan designregistrering och immateriella lagar skydda designade produkter eller är det bara ett kostsamt pappersarbete?

Kan design skyddas?

We live in a world where the gap between not knowing and access to facts has never been closer, faster or easier. Despite this, we are content to have facts, ideas and answers sold to us by the daily flow of algorithms that create what we want to hear.

We live in a world where searching and questioning have been replaced by “I know, I don’t have time and I think”, and where we would rather spend our precious time on a constant search for offers that are too good to miss. This has made us change our view of product quality in relation to price, because now we consider quality to be expensive and cheap to be the right price.

Although we know deep down, that cheap is always expensive in the long run.

We live in a time where selling is stronger than choosing, and where the product development budget is advantageously spent on public relations, so that the investment can get a greater and faster return, because who takes the time to look for the perfect product that no one else knows about?

Does this mean that we are heading back to a buy, wear and tear society? Or something even worse, where the lower price is more important than the originality of the product. –I want the same but cheaper!

In these democratically dysfunctional times, politics drives and fuels the copying, by weighting the lowest price as a decisive factor in tender documents without considering more important factors such as quality, environment and originality, this through a simple and ill-conceived addition “or equivalent” - without even try to explain what they mean by equivalent.

We live in a world where the law is better at seeing differences in shades of brown than the similarity between an original and a copy.
