Lightweight and flexible, Nylon can be used in multiple thicknesses and weaves dependant on the end use.

Robic

Robic® is a brand name of a high strength durable nylon with excellent tensile and tearing strength properties for added durability. Proprietary yarn treatments allow it to behave as a high tenacity nylon without the added weight and cost. We use Robic™ serious strength to weight performance.

Polyester

Polyester is a tough, durable and versatile material. Polyester will resist abrasion, mould, and rotting. It is also lightweight, UV resistant and holds colour well. Polyester dries more quickly when wet and water resistant, even when not coated. It is available in multiple fabric thicknesses for differing end uses.

Repreve

This is the world’s number one brand of recycled performance fibre. Repreve® is high-quality polyester fibres made from 100% recycled materials. Certified and traceable, Repreve® delivers the same fabrication benefits of new Polyester.

We have designed a range of timeless packs and bags that are purposeful and deliberate in their construction, allowing you the freedom to make your adventure your own.

HARNESS GUIDE

ORIGINS 3D EVA AIR Featuring a deep vertical channel, the harness provides increased support by following the contours of your spine, and additional ventilation down the centre. The vertical comfort foam channels provide protection from any contents and limit any pressure points. Finished with padded semi ‘S’ curved straps, this provides a comfortable fit and a sliding sternum strap.

SPIDER 3D COMFORT FOAM Designed to suit most torso lengths, the Spider 3D Comfort Foam harness features a “peel and stick style” adjustable panel. The curved shoulder straps are attached to a Velcro panel that sits behind a moulded foam panel. The sternum straps and load lifter straps are in place to pull the pack close to the body and even the weight of the bag for a more comfortable fit.

AEROFY COMFORT FOAM The plush foam of this harness contours the curves of the back with deep ventilated channels covered by stretch mesh that provides increased ventilation and comfort. Curved, padded and ventilated straps help to reduce fatigue, while the adjustable sternum strap has been added for increased support.

AIRMESH II This harness is used on our smaller daypacks. Designed to contour the spine, the breathable spacer mesh is combined with thick padding to protect from any items inside the pack.

ORIGINS 3D EVA COMFORT FOAM Designed with laser cut foam to provide optimal airflow and reduced weight, this harness will also suit most torso lengths as it features a convenient “peel and stick style” adjustable panel. Sternum straps and load lifter straps are to pull the pack close to the body and even the weight of the bag.

AEROFY ELEMENTAL This is a simple and clean padded harness that is both functional and elegant. This padded harness protects from any contents of the bag for short commutes.

AEROFY PRO SUSPENSION FRAME Constructed using a lightweight aluminium frame, the Aerofy Pro has a curved mesh back panel that creates a suspended surface area to provide optimal ventilation. Featuring a U shaped waist belt, fully adjustable ‘S’ straps and movable sternum straps, this pack provides ultimate lumbar support.

AEROFY II This harness features extra plush foam with deep ventilated channels that are covered by stretch mesh to provide optimal ventilation and comfort. Curved, padded and ventilated straps will help to reduce fatigue, while the adjustable sternum strap has been added for increased support.

SLEEPING BAGS We understand there is a huge difference between what type of sleeping bag is going to be suitable for a four week summer camping trip, as opposed to a three day hiking trip. There are many features that need to be considered when selecting your next sleeping bag, from the fill type and temperature rating, to the materials and packed dimensions. BlackWolf sleeping bags have also been tested to the international standard so you can confidently select the right sleeping bag for your next adventure.

INSULATION TYPES Making the decision between down or synthetic fill needs to be considered carefully as there are a lot of variables that will impact your decision. Down filled sleeping bags are generally viewed as the premium fill for hiking or camping enthusiasts as they offer the best warmth-to-weight ratios. They are considered an investment as generally down filled sleeping bags are more expensive than synthetic fill. It’s important to recognise that the higher the loft of your down sleeping bag, the more efficient it will be in gaining and retaining warmth. The benefits of a higher loft are that less down is required to achieve the same warmth as a lower loft counterpart, and the higher loft will be more compressible. Design features and placement of baffles also contribute to the effectiveness of the down as this controls where the down is placed to avoid having any cold spots. While down-filled sleeping bags are considered the premium fill there is one downside that can sway hikers to a synthetic fill, that they don’t perform well in wet conditions. Synthetic fill sleeping bags have become more technical over time and are the perfect alternative if you know there’s a chance your sleeping bag might get wet. Our BlackWolf sleeping bags contain a range of synthetic fills, from high quality Clusterloft which is a premium down alternative, through to Powerloft and bonded fibres. Generally, synthetic fill bags are more affordable than down fill and if you don’t need a lightweight sleeping bag, a synthetic fill may suit your adventure perfectly. Other Sleeping Bag Features • Sleeping bag shells: The outer fabric of the sleeping bag, which is generally made from either a durable Polyester or Nylon, has a water repellent (DWR) finish to protect the inside from any moisture. • Sleeping bag hood: If the sleeping bag has a hood it will be snug-fitting to keep the bag warmer.

WARMTH AND TEMPERATURE RATINGS The benefit of knowing your sleeping bag has been tested to the International Standards is that you can confidently select the right sleeping bag for the conditions you’re heading to. While the temperature ratings will give you a strong guide, there are a range of other factors that can impact your sleep including your mat, what you wear sleeping, the weather conditions, just to name a few. Our experts generally recommend selecting a lower temperature rating than the lowest night temperature you’re expecting. And if you’re planning on using your bag during the cooler months, look at sleeping bags that can specifically handle the lower temperatures you’re expecting. The testing procedure generates three temperatures that you will see across our range and we have included an example of how this is displayed below: • • •

Comfort Temperature: Lower limit of comfort range, down to which a sleeping bag user with a relaxed posture, such as lying on their back, is globally in thermal equilibrium and just not feeling cold. Limit Temperature: Lower limit at which a sleeping bag user with a curled body posture is globally in thermal equilibrium and just not feeling cold. Extreme Temperature: Very low temperature where the risk of health damage by hypothermia is possible.

MATS AND PILLOWS Just because you’re sleeping under the stars, doesn’t mean it needs to be uncomfortable. In fact, we think your camping mat should feel every bit like your bed at home, just much more convenient to travel with. We have purposefully designed a range of sleeping mats that are available in different sizes and thicknesses, as we understand that different activities require different gear.

MATS EXPLAINED Our camping mats are designed to provide a thicker and more insulated support system, available in a range of sizes to cater for the solo camper through to the whole family. Our unique foams and R-Value testing will ensure that you stay comfortable through the night and your hips don’t end up on the ground in the morning. We have created our camping mats to ensure you feel supported throughout the night, regardless of your location. Our adventure mats have been developed with both weight and comfort in mind. Knowing that you will be strapping this to your pack, we’re acutely aware that every gram counts. We don’t believe that you should sacrifice comfort while you’re out on the trails, so we have developed our adventure mats with high R-Values to ensure you stay warm, with durable materials to withstand any adventure.

R-VALUE EXPLAINED When heading out on any adventure, remember that your mat is a necessary part of your overall sleep system. Our mats provide comfort and protection from rocks and dirt, but they also provide insulation from the ground up. The R-Value is a rating that shows the insulating properties of a sleeping mat. If you’re sleeping in warmer climates at low elevation, you would look for a lower R-Value, whereas if you’re sleeping in cooler climates, look for an R3 or higher. To put it simply, the higher the R-Value number, the warmer your sleeping mat will be.

Designed with super comfort in mind, the Hexatherm 3D is built using a uniquely cut cored open cell foam structure that will allow the foam to mould around your body shape. These benefits will be appreciated by softmattress sleepers, who want to enjoy the extracomforts while sleeping under the stars.

The Hexatherm 2D range will help keep you warmer at night with increased insulation at the heart of its design. Built with fully bonded fabric to foam to provide a firmer sleep, this is a perfect sleeping solution for those who want more warmth and a more uninterupted sleep. There is also the added benefit of being able to join multiple mats together to create a larger space.

SELF-INFLATING VALVE

Self-inflation is a great way to help get your sleep system set up quickly. It's important to remember that self-inflating sleeping mats aren't intended to inflate completely, they're designed to get you most of the way there. There will generally be some room for manual inflation, whether that comes from your lungs or a pump, your mat will be completely customisable to your comfort preferences. This is one of the great advantages of self-inflating sleeping mats: they are vastly easier to inflate than air mats. Generally it will take up to 10mins for our self-inflating mats to inflate. The variance is due to a few different contributors: core construction, trained compression, elevation and temperature. It's important to use the valves correctly to ensure that the air is flowing into the mattress efficiently, and sealed to keep it secure.
