Weddings

where to start So you’re newly engaged and over the moon about it. But also feeling a bit overwhelmed. Don’t worry, you’ve come to the right place! Lets talk this out and maybe get something checked off your list!

about I was born and raised in Saginaw, MI, attended VLHS, HHS, and WMU. I love to travel and drink Diet Coke from a fountain, and in the grand scheme of your wedding day, none of that actually matters. What you want to know is that I’m fun and creative, I can be loud, and I have no problem taking charge. I want to make sure we get the most out of the time we have on your big day. I want you to have moments alone to enjoy it without all of the pomp and circumstance. And most of all, I want you to have images of this day that you look back on for years to come. Images to show your grandchildren. Images that make you tear up. Images that you display with pride as not only snapshots of a momentous day, but works of art for the home you make together.

Leslie was patient, and HONEST with me about what would look good, and what wouldn’t. She’s the expert-- why would I not listen to her? My engagement pictures turned out stunning. Six months rolls by and suddenly it’s the wedding day! Leslie was amazing to work with both on the day of my wedding (between rain, running late, and about 1,000 props I “needed” #extra), and leading up to it. I would recommend her to anybody, but the best advice I received in planning my wedding was to hire a photographer that I could have a natural conversation with, this way my pictures wouldn’t look forced-- through my searching I couldn’t agree more now that I’ve been through it. Another piece of advice-- do the engagement session! I can’t stress this enough... we thought we’d be totally fine in front of the camera, but it actually takes some getting used to. Leslie kindly put us in our places, made us comfortable and laugh, and got us used to what we should be doing in front of the camera. I am so happy I chose BlackSheepChic as my wedding photographer-- Leslie is full of energy, can keep everyone on task, and extremely talented. Hire her!

engagement session The more relaxed you are, the more fun you’ll have, and the more natural the photos will be! I love engagement sessions because it gives me a chance to get to know you better, and for you to get used to being in front of my camera. It makes the wedding day MUCH easier because you know what to expect and are ready to have some fun! I don’t know how many times I’ve shown up to an engagement session to a groom who “hates getting his picture taken” or a bride that says “she isn’t photogenic.” These are usually the ones that leave having had the most fun! They’re throwing out ideas and open to every silly little request I throw at them! Having that kind of relationship and trust makes the wedding day run that much smoother.

I have imagined what my wedding would be like ever since I was a littl that was able to capture it all. Ever since I laid eyes on Leslie’s work I k sion solid. Her personality is so big and I love it. She was at my weddin self and camera but it’s hard believe because she captured so many sh each person know what was expected when she needed to get a sho BSC- DO IT! My pictures turned out amazing. I bawled like a baby loo

Leslie did such an amazing job with our engagement and wedding pictures!! Not only did she capture every moment, she got us back our wedding pictures in only 3 days!! She has so much experience, she was able to keep things moving during the reception and knew the best way to orchestrate family pictures so they didn’t take all night! I can’t say enough great things about Leslie and BlackSheepChic! By far one of the best decisions I made for our wedding day!! I can’t wait to have our wedding pictures all over our house!

things I wish all couples knew

TIMELINES : Talk to your photographer about timeline options well before your big day. Different venues create different needs and opportunities regarding photography, like first looks. We want to help you get the most out of the time you have. COMMUNICATE : Don’t expect your photographer to know who are the most important people of your day. Besides the two of you, they’re likely to have no prior experience with your family, so if there’s someone or an heirloom that is especially important not to be overlooked, make sure they know! PRICE : Everyone prices differently. But in the end we have all met someone who wishes they’d spent, done, or cared, more about their wedding photos. We’ve never met someone who says they wish they’d have skimpped. So choose who you want, who you feel best compliments your day, and will give you the memories you will cherish. SHOT LISTS : We know that these are the modern days of Pinterest. Believe me, we all have extensive boards ourselves! But remember, Pinterest is the best shot from millions of weddings. Try not to recreate everything you once thought “cute”... be open to your day and creating your own memories with your friends and family. FAMILY PORTRAITS : If it is important to you, write it down. I personally have a system that gets every immediate family member into a family portrait, but if you would like individual shots with every member, or it’s important for you to have shots with Aunts and Uncles, this is the list to create so no one is left out. LIGHT MATTERS : The most important component in photography is light. It will make the difference between creamy gorgousness and flat dull images. Consider this when choosing locations and venues. DETAILS MATTER : Dress, shoes, jewelry, invitations, all of these things you’ve been painstakingly deciding on... have them easily accessible and ready to be photographed. HAVE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER EAT WHEN YOU DO : No one wants to be photographed with a bite of mashed potatoes, so have your photographer eat when you do. And don’t forget to give them a seat on your seating chart! Nothing is more awkward than a photographer trying to eat off the floor in the hall...

My husband and I used Black Sheep Chic Photography for our engagement and wedding photos. Leslie was absolutely amazing. For our engagement session, she helped coordinate our outfits right down to the accessories. She then traveled all of the way to Napa, CA to do our session with us! For our wedding day, Leslie kept everyone on track. She helped keep us calm and relaxed. Our wedding photos are absolutely phenomenal. I would not change a single thing about our experience with Black Sheep Chic!

“

erfectly!! I loved all of my photos and had several guest comment on how she of our photos back fast and beautifully edited, I didn’t want anything that looked art beat!!

trash the dress My explaination to these (sometimes insane) sessions is as follows : Your wedding day images are a beautiful remembrance of a perfect day. A day where every hair is in place, clothes are pristine, and there are flowers around every corner. This session is to show what goes on after that. Real life, it’s messy. It’s arguing over who’s going to take out the trash or run to the store in a snow storm. It’s video games, movie nights, road trips, four-wheelers, and kids with sticky fingers. This session is to take your wedding attire and commemorate it in whatever real life is to the two of you.

Leslie is AMAZING!! She captured the beauty of our wedding and our love so well and I could not have imagine our day with anyone else! She is so easy to work with, you get your pictures FAST and the pictures are breathtaking. If you are looking for a wedding photographer, black sheep chic is the way to go!!

boudoir A boudoir session is the ultimate wedding gift. Not only for the recipient, but for the power and confidence it will instill in you. You deserve to feel the way he sees you. Let me show you. Besides.... no man to hold these images ever muttered the words... “I wish I’d have gotten a watch.”
