WELCOME TO BLACK ROCK YACHT CLUB

Located in the historic village of Black Rock, Connecticut, Black Rock

Yacht Club is a fully private, membership owned, yachting, social, and dining club. With spectacular views and immediate boating access to Long Island Sound, our members create memories daily! We were incorporated in 1912 with the mission of encouraging and supporting yachting and yacht racing; offering athletic programs that build community, sportsmanship, and team skills among members of all ages; and to foster a collegial dining and social environment.

Yachting (for everyone) is our Tradition

With our pier and mooring field sitting at the mouth of the harbor, yachters and boaters have immediate access to their vessels and are on Long Island Sound enjoying the surrounding waters in no time.

Black Rock Yacht Club (BRYC) has a vibrant racing and cruising community. Enjoy a calendar of on-water opportunities all season long. Join a crew for Wednesday Night Racing around the buoys or for a Friday evening social Chowder Race and enjoy the comraderies back at the bar afterwards. Or, learn how to sail in a 2-person keelboat in a sailing clinic using our fleet of boats (Ideal 18s) - they are always available to members.

Our membership is diverse. We have hearty ocean-going racers, casual cruisers, powerboaters, and members just wanting to learn how to sail. At BRYC, you will find open arms, a hello, and a smile. There are opportunities for all levels of interest and experience.

“Come get on the water with us”

Simply Great Facilities

With a picturesque view of Black Rock Harbor, Fayerweather Light, Penfield Light, and Long Island Sound, members and guests enjoy many inside and outside dining venues with delightful creations from our Executive Chef.

Our Clubhouse and Bar are open practically year round and offer both formal and casual dining opportunities. Cleanse your palate and come on down!

Tennis

Har-Tru overlooking the water? Yes! Members and guests enjoy our Har-Tru tennis courts that are smartly located in the middle of campus. The club hosts both competitive (member-member / member-guest) and many social tennis events throughout the season. You can also take advantage of individual and small group lessons with our club Tennis Professional. And of course, there is plenty of open court play time that can always be reserved. After an invigorating match, you are steps away from shower facilities in our bathhouse and a cold beverage in the air conditioned clubhouse or enjoyed outside on the dining deck.

Outdoor Pool

Take a refreshing dip in our lifeguarded pool or soak in the sun on the pool decks. Members and guests are treated with spectacular views of Long Island Sound and a seemingly constant, gentle summer breeze.

When you desire a bite to eat, you are steps from the Snack Bar serving traditional favorites and many healthy options for all. If you desire a cold adult beverage, you are also steps away from an outside adult serving area.

Within the pool area, the Bathhouse contains showers and changing areas. So, freshen up and enjoy a sit down meal without ever leaving campus.

Junior Activities Program

Our junior sailing, tennis, and aquatic program is second to none. All summer long, our capable staff instruct juniors as they gain and advance their skills, compete as desired, and most importantly, have FUN. Our juniors make friendships and memories for life. These programs are for all skill levels and ambitions. There is even a Salty Dog program for juniors age 4-5 years old.

Junior Sailing

Juniors take to the water in small instructional groups. These groups are experience-based enabling maximum value of instruction and, of course fun.

The program offers many opportunities to compete in regattas at the club and at other clubs on Long Island Sound. Juniors sail in; Optimist, O’pen Bic, Pixel, 420, and Lasers. Older Juniors also have the opportunity to crew and race in large keel boats in the Junior Big Boat Sailing (JBBS) program.

Giving a Junior an opportunity to sail, is giving a Junior the gift of being able to enjoy this lifelong activity, gain confidence, and independence.

Junior Swimming & Diving

Juniors can learn or extend their swimming and diving skills by taking lesson available during the summer season. Juniors can also compete in our all inclusive Swim & Dive Team named the Barracudas. They swim, dive, and cheer each other on while competing against area clubs.

What fun & team spirit!

Junior Tennis

Juniors of all ages can take advantage of learning to play all aspects of tennis from our Tennis Professional and Summer staff. Lessons are age and skill based to ensure excellent instruction and fun. Juniors can also participate in the club Junior Tennis Team which competes against other area yacht, country, and tennis clubs.
