Letter from the Director

We are excited to welcome visitors to our annual Filberg Festival, which is filled with entertainment, food, and over 100 talented artisans and makers of fine art in various media ranging from metalwork, pottery, toys, woodcrafts, jewelry, paintings, glass, textiles and specialty foods.

We hope you enjoy your time in our nine-acre waterfront property that overlooks the Comox Harbour. The Park is owned by the Town of Comox and operated by the non-profit Filberg Heritage Lodge and Park Association since it was designated a municipal heritage site. While enjoying the Festival, stop by Filberg Lodge, where our Gift Shop is.

The landscaped grounds contain rare and exotic trees and numerous flowerbeds. The Lodge was constructed in the early 1930s, a 4,000 square foot Arts and Crafts style residence with steep gables, leaded glass windows and hand-hewn cedar shakes covering the exterior walls and roof. Inside, extensive use of local wood and stone by master craftsmen and antique finishing create an air of rustic elegance.

Thank you to all of our community partners, sponsors, members, and dedicated volunteers who continue to support our work. The continued dedication of our supporters and volunteers ensures the success of this fantastic event each year.

Artist Highlights

Frazey Ford is a captivating presence supported by the intoxicating lilt of her band. Fans have had the opportunity to see her performing post pandemic as she has toured in the countries of Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Sweden, Ireland and the UK in 2022 & 2023.

Frazey's new live show for her U Kin B the Sun album gives fans the irreplaceable intimate, live experience featuring Frazey and her excellent band members showcasing songs from her new album as well as fan favourites.

Alex Cuba presents a concert with his father and brother for a special presentation of his music and popular Cuban songs. Alex Cuba will be joined by Valetin Puentes and Adonis Puentes both accomplished musicians. Valentin Puentes, who is visiting Canada from Cuba, continues to teach guitar and perform at 79 years old. He taught both Alex and fraternal twin brother Adonis to play guitar. Alex’s musical evolution for years was all about searching for the simplicity and soul in Cuban music – he’s always exploring, always creating something fresh and new, and always, it seems, getting it just right.

Jill Barber is a three-time Juno Award nominated singer-songwriter with an unforgettable voice once heard, never forgotten. Her critically acclaimed repertoire spans a transformative spectrum from folk, to vocal jazz, to pop, and includes songs in both French and English.

An unforgettable, enchanting performer, Jill has headlined iconic venues such as Toronto’s Massey Hall and Roy Thompson Hall, Ottawa’s National Arts Centre, Vancouver’s Vogue Theatre and Toykyo’s Blue Note and Cotton Club, and captivating audiences across the globe in Japan, Europe, Australia, Mexico, South America, the USA and the Middle East.

Shuttle Information

Park and Ride: We will be offering Park and Ride from Phil & Jennie Gaglardi Academy, 1475 Noel Avenue. Park at Gaglardi and take our shuttle to the Festival.

Round trip is $5 per person over 12 years old. CASH ONLY. The hours are 9:30 am to 8:30 pm every day.

New this year, the Shuttle will be adding a stop at Comox Town Hall, so you can go to Nautical Days after our event, or join us from town!

Parking for the Festival: There will be on-site accessible parking on a first come first served basis. There is very limited parking on-site so we ask that you use alternate transportation where possible. We are encouraging visitors to take BC Transit. We will also have a Bike Valet by donation!

Artisan Highlights

Rod Smith is a Wuikineuxv (Oweekeno) and Wei Wai Kum (Campbell River) artist residing on Vancouver Island with his wife Janice. His pieces include sculptures, masks, poles, original paintings, plates, vessels, bowls, and bentwood boxes. Rod continues to explore contemporary NorthWest Coast motifs and designs and takes great joy in creating new and unique works.

Joe Wilson is a Hak'wesagame & Kwakwaka'wakw artist born in 1966. He is the grandson of Chief Alvin Edgar Alfred. Joe began carving at age 21 after being exposed to the work of master carver Willie Seaweed. Joe is well known for his very detailed oriented wood carvings and his elaborate silver, copper and gold jewelry.

Amanda Chartrand is the sole proprietor of Radiant Holistic Sources. She is an Indigenous Holistic Entrepreneur and Reiki Master with a mission to treat the mind, body and soul. Driven by a passion of simplicity, clean ingredients and a desire to create naturally based effective skin care and cleaning products, Radiant Holistic Sources embraces a holistic approach to personal care which recognizes the relationship between our natural environment and our physical and emotional well being.
