We’re working with all levels of government to ensure grocers and pharmacies will be there for Canadian families.

Here’s what’s happening at Walmart:

We’ve dedicated the opening hour (7-8 am) exclusively for seniors, people living with disabilities, and those with vulnerable health conditions.

We’re well-stocked. There’s plenty of food and supplies, and our teams are working around the clock to replenish our shelves to deal with demand.

Some stores are limiting quantities per customer to ensure there are more products available for more customers.

Pickup and delivery demand is high. To help Canadians self-isolate, we’ve made changes to Walmart.ca to allow grocery home deliveries to be left at their door.

We offer contact-free pick-up.

SUPPORTING OUR ASSOCIATES We’ve announced steps to provide additional support for Associates affected by the crisis.

To support our Associates, we have arranged for: Access to live online physician care for all 90,000+ Associates.

Accelerated annual bonus payments Increased wages by $2/hour to support our store and distribution centre Associates.

WE’RE HIRING 10,000 ASSOCIATES! We want to immediately hire 10,000 more Associates in our stores and distribution centres.

Safety is our priority

We have introduced new store disinfecting protocols to ensure the cleanliness of our stores.

This means that our self-checkout machines, cash registers and belts, all door knobs and door handles, as well as all other store common areas will be disinfected every 30 minutes or less.

Quick & Tasty Meals

4 Ingredient Dinners

If you have a can, you’ve got a plan! Make this easy pasta dish with pantry and freezer staples, and dinner will be ready in 15 minutes. Serves 4.

1 jar pasta sauce

one box pasta

2 cans tuna

+

3 cups frozen spinach or 1 cup peas

Pantry Cooking

Easy Bean Salad Use any canned beans you have on-hand, and jazz them up with this savoury vinaigrette.

This hardy salad is a great main dish or side dish, and will stay fresh in the fridge for up to four days. Serves 8 2 garlic cloves, minced (or ¼ tsp garlic powder) 2 tsp Dijon or yellow mustard 2 tsp honey or maple syrup ½ tsp salt ¼ tsp pepper ¼ cup balsamic, apple cider or wine vinegar 1 tsp any dried herb: basil, oregano, parsley, etc. ½ cup olive oil or other oil 3 cans chickpeas, kidney or black beans (or any other), drained and rinsed 2 cups any diced vegetable: celery, carrot, cucumber, sweet pepper, broccoli, etc.

In a jar or container with tight-fitting lid, stir together garlic, mustard, honey, salt, pepper, vinegar, herbs and oil. Shake well.

In a large bowl, mix beans and vegetables.

Pour half of the dressing over salad, and stir to combine. Serve, and refrigerate leftovers for up to 4 days. Refrigerate the remaining dressing for re-coating beans over the next few days.

Chicken and Rice Bowl

Ingredients

Instructions

1 cup rice 2 cups leftover cooked chicken 2 cups any steamed vegetables (broccoli, corn, carrots, peas, etc.) ¼ cup soy sauce 1 tablespoon rice, wine or cider vinegar 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup 1 tsp toasted sesame oil (optional) 1 tsp minced fresh ginger or 1/8 tsp powdered ginger Optional toppings: hot sauce, toasted almonds, peanuts, sesame seeds

Prepare rice according to package directions. Once cooked, add it to a large serving bowl, and top with leftover chicken and vegetables (warm or cold – whatever you prefer). In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, vinegar, honey, oil (optional) and ginger. Pour it over chicken and rice, top with optional ingredients, and serve.

Creative Ideas for the Family

Cooking with Kids Kids will love this fun activity, which is equal parts home-schooling, creative art and snack-time!

Skewer It! Kabobs are simple to make. Start with kabob skewers or toothpicks. Arrange a variety of colourful bite-sized foods on a plate, and have the kids thread food onto skewers.

They can practice counting or learning their colours as they craft their snacks.

Try one of these fun ideas: • Fruit kabobs: use any fresh, canned or defrosted fruit • Salad skewers: try lettuce, cherry tomatoes, sweet peppers and cucumber • Sandwich sticks: arrange deli meat, cheese, tomato and cubed bread

Get Crafty with Toast

Breads, spreads and some imagination are all you need for this giggly fun food idea.

HINT: Not great with a knife? Use kitchen scissors instead to cut the whiskers, nose and eyes.

Even before the flowers start to bloom, you can create your own indoor bouquets. Cut flower shapes and stems from clean, dry items in your recycling bin, decorate them with the bits you found on the scavenger hunt, and display them in a vase or jar.
