recognized as a winner or finalist for more than a decade in the Langley premiere Readers’ Choice (Best of the Best) awards program, Waddle insisted.

While the honour is uplifting and appreciated, he said it’s not something he or the team can or should ever take for granted.

“We’re an auto service business, but we’re in the business of people,” and making sure the customers always leave feeling happy and content that Precision has solved their transportation issues is of key importance to Waddle.

“We have to earn the customer’s trust every time they come in the door,” he said, and the way to achieve that is to provide consistent quality service.

He also feels a key to their success has been ongoing efforts by himself and his team to be a part of the community, to give back, to volunteer, and to sponsor teams and community projects wherever possible.

“It’s not just one thing right that makes it work,” he said. It’s doing a thousand things right.

“We definitely appreciate the trust that the readers and our customers have placed in us,” he concluded.

“It means so much to all of us.”

Precision Auto Services started as a “one-man” one-bay shop on a back street in the industrial area off Langley Bypass 22 years ago, and is now preparing to build a new 10-bay service centre at 232nd Street and Fraser Highway.

Founder Scott Waddle may have started out small, but he’s not going it alone any longer, and it’s the entire team (including Waddle’s son, Michael, and wife, Jackie) that he credits for winning three of this year’s Langley Advance Times coveted Readers’ Choice awards.

Precision joins dozens of other Langley businesses that were picked for recognition in the annual business awards program.

For Precision, they were crowned the best place for auto service and tune-up, the best brake shop, as well as the best muffler and exhaust facility in town.

They were also selected as a finalist as Langley’s favourite place for an oil change.

Votes more than tripled For more than two decades, we have been facilitating this competition, and this year’s participation broke all records, announced Langley Advance Times publisher Lisa Farquharson.

More than 35,000 votes were cast – three times as many as in past years.

Farquharson credits the spike in participation – in part – to a new online contest platform introduced by Black Press Media, and said it made the Readers’ Choice voting easier and more user friendly.

“What I love about it is that it represents direct feedback from the community… real feedback from real users,” Farquharson added.

She also felt the increased voting came – in part – as a result of the consolidation this spring of the Langley Advance and the Langley Times.

The community is being better served on several fronts as a result of the merger, including this expanded awards program, Farquharson said.

“The purpose is for the community, our readers, to have a voice in choosing those businesses they love and the services they can’t live without,” and then providing an expanded venue through which those companies can be recognized, she concluded.

Langley Advance Times publisher Lisa Farquharson is excited to unveil the list of Langley businesses that won in this year’s Readers’ Choice awards.

Growing with Langley Gary Bakshi, owner of An Indian Affair, was overwhelmed to learn he was a finalist in six of the different dining and entertainment categories, and winner in two.

Open in Willowbrook for the past seven years, his restaurant has continued to grow with the community.

While his very first customer ever still comes in regularly, and he has a plethora of other regulars, there are also many new residents discovering the restaurant for the first time.

An Indian Affair was a finalist in the family restaurant and family entertainment categories, as well as the fine dining, catering, cocktail, and favourite business lunch categories.

While each of those mean a great deal, Bakshi is “over the moon excited” to be selected again as Langley’s

favourite Indian restaurant for 2019, as well as the best vegan/vegetarian restaurant.

“It means a lot,” he said. “It means so much.”

The certificates that accompanies this year’s win will be given a prominent spot on Bakshi’s Wall of Fame.

“It does help me to see we’re doing things right, that our customers like what we’re doing,” Bakshi said. “It helps for my staff, too, to boost their motivation.”

There are always a mix of businesses that win awards year after year. But there are also a lot of new companies worthy of recognition.

“On behalf of myself and everyone at the Langley Advance Times, congratulations to those businesses that continue to excel by offering great service and product, year after year,” Farquharson concluded.
