TRENDS FOR FALL
STREET LEVEL IN ABBOTSFORD
Annual Christmas show offers gift ideas & entertainment From November 17 to 19, Abbotsford’s Tradex is once again home to the West Coast Christmas Show. The 11th annual show and marketplace offers something for every member of the family. Visitors have the opportunity to discover gift ideas, compete in the Ugly Christmas Sweater contest, visit the Christmas dollhouse miniature show and view the Free-Mo HO scale model train display. “We try and create a family atmosphere,” said show organizer George Acs. “This show is more than a place where you can do some madcap shopping—it’s enter-
taining if you take the time.” Santa’s Workshop is back for another year and features complimentary activities like cookie decorating, sand art and writing letters to Santa. New for the 2018 show are workshops on creating origami ornaments and building holiday-themed mini terrariums. Throughout the weekend 18 groups will perform on the Sounds of the Holiday stage. A few of the featured performers are Central Fraser Valley Fiddlers, Chilliwack Harmony Chorus and Trinity Western University Concert Choir.
Local chefs working with local ingredients will demonstrate creative culinary ideas on the Home for the Holidays stage. Local experts will offer show visitors home decorating tips as well as floral arranging and centrepiece tutorials. Several Christmas-oriented vendors will also perform product demonstrations. The West Coast Christmas Show features several seasonal vendors selling Christmas decorations, ornaments, decorative lanterns and glasswork. More than half of the 240 vendors are British ColumContinued on A30
