Flower arranging has been a life long hobby of mine. I have been a florist for over 30 years in both here and China. I have a major in Business and Finance where I studied at the Fuzhou University being fortunate enough to fluently speak 5 languages, Mandarin, Cantonese, English, Fuqing and Fuzhou Dialects. Living and owning a business in the community for the past 12 years has made Maple Ridge a home for my family. The Naked Truth is a fresh new studio offering a range of services from laser hair removal to skin rejuvenation and cosmetic injections and for the softer side of beauty, it also offers services in eyebrow micro-blading and eyelash extensions. Why did Kim get into this business? A great question, one that deserves a great answer…That being said the answer is truly so simple that if you blink you might just miss it…because… wait for it… because she wanted to. Well it’s a little deeper than that but at the end of the day the decision really boils down to two possibilities…should I? or Shouldn’t I? The answer seemed clearer than the question… I most certainly should, and so with very little time and lots of elbow grease the wheels were set in motion and the studio opened 4 months after having made the decision. Now its full speed ahead with a five year plan to open 4 more locations.

My own children (now grown men) inspired me to start my family daycare in Burnaby. Terry Becker While still remaining actively involved in the law office in Pitt Meadows and all that is required in the reopening of the Maple Ridge office, Terry is now doing more teaching at the University of the Fraser Valley. Last year she started her Masters in Education at SFU with Leadership as her focus. Her involvement in Haney Rotary and more recently the Rotary Leadership Institute keeps her values as a volunteer a priority. She still finds time to continue as Chair of the Board of Directors of Pacific Sport Fraser Valley and President of the Pitt Meadows Community Foundation. In her own journey to discover her “Why” she has embraced a “Why Not” attitude. Jyoti and her husband Bhupinder opened Haney Animal Hospital in 2003, offering full service veterinarian care and quality pet foods. Jyoti received her Master of Commerce degree in her native India, before emigrating with the family to Canada. Jyoti as a loving mom, caring wife and beautiful lady who manages the daily house hold activity, along with her full-time duties as office manager of the busy clinic. When the family first arrived they went to Toronto, but it didn’t take them long to decide that the cold winters weren’t for them. They found their way out to the west coast, choosing to open the new veterinary practice in Maple Ridge. Jyoti says they love the small-town feel of this community and the friendliness of the people, and she enjoys getting to know their customers, both the two and four-legged kind. The veterinary field is a very satisfying one, according to Jyoti. When a distraught family member brings in a sick pet and Haney Animal Hospital is able to treat the animal and send it home well again, it’s a very rewarding experience for the whole team. “There’s nothing quite like it,” she says. She is a proud mom of Vikramdeep Johar doing his graduation in medicine and Simran Johar and Rishamdeep Singh Johar completing their school education.
