On behalf of the Abbotsford Agrifair Board of Directors and staff, it is my pleasure to welcome you to “the best little country fair on earth!” This year we are excited to be celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday – it’s great to be Canadian, eh!

Agrifair is Abbotsford’s very own community fair with over 30,000 attendees over the three days.

2016 was a huge success with increased attendance, a far-reaching buzz and beautiful weather. 2017 will see us build on that success and with your participation we will

As always, you will find fun interactive programs promoting our farming/agriculture industry and our local livestock and 4-H clubs.

Educating the importance of agriculture in our community is a top priority for the board of directors. We are expanding our “gate to plate” program which is an “on-site agri-tour.” The tour takes guests to different 4-H clubs so they can explain the importance of their livestock to the ag-industry. This year we are adding berry farm components.

Some of the 2017 attractions include: The Laughing Loggers, a new logger sports show (laughinglogger.com) that includes an all-day family interactive area as well as three performance shows daily, Dan the One Man Band is back and ready to celebrate as “Can Dan”, Strathcona Mounted Troop is returning for this year

only, Global FMX Bike Show is returning with a twist, wrestling will be bringing some Canadian talent, and Richard’s Racing Pigs & Ducks are back. New attractions include a 30-foot fire-breathing dragon in the Motor Sports Arena, a salute to our multicultural community on our main stage on Friday and a tribute to Canadian music on Saturday. As well, to help celebrate what it means to be Canadian there will be street hockey all weekend long, open to the public of all ages with planned tournaments featuring special teams! We look forward to seeing some 4-H teams signing up, maybe Leaders vs Members?

And with this year’s celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, Agrifair is sure to have an extra sense of excitement!

Agrifair also provides our community with an excellent opportunity to showcase the agricultural heritage of Abbotsford. With the richest and most productive agricultural land in Canada located just outside of our city’s urban core, our community is certainly a hub for agriculture and agri-business. I’m very proud of this rich legacy, and also excited to support our entrepreneurial, innovative agricultural community moving us into the future.

Along with extending a welcome to all fair-goers, I’d like to thank each exhibitor, participant, sponsor and volunteer for making Agrifair a success.

Agrifair has been building summer memories for 107 years — so I’m certain you won’t want to miss the excitement at Agrifair 2017. With different events and shows every day, it’s definitely going to be a summer event to remember.

IT’S GREAT TO BE CANADIAN, EH?!

With less than 7 days to gate open the Agrifair is well underway to being the MUST SEE event of the summer!

There is so much for families to see and do that parents should be buying the three day wristband at just $15.00 as ages 10 and under are FREE. Included with gate admission is EVERYTHING except the midway and food.

However the midway is offering a super special price break on Friday from Noon to 3pm, TOONIE day, each ride will be a toonie. This is the greatest deal – an all day ride band is normally $35 for one day, so come Friday for the best deal you could ever imagine. And if you feel like a pancake breakfast the SANDMAN on Simon Street is having a FREE pancake breakfast Friday Aug 4 from 9am to noon to kick off the fair.

The Fraserway Family FunZone Building will include Lego play times and competitions, free activities including rockwall climbing, mini golf, Science World shows and a variety of characters including Elsa & Anna, the Mad Hatter and more. Don’t forget to use the family room with free diapers and wipes for your little ones. PLUS we have returning favourite vendors and some very cool new ones.

Agriland and the 4-H area is always a hit for anyone who wants to learn more about our agricultural programming.

We have a ton of animals and interactive areas, including

an agri-tour featuring Berry Councils, time with 4-H clubs and a special photo opportunity; you don’t want to miss this.

Part of the Canada 150 celebration includes FREE birthday cake on Saturday at noon. Have your cake and then check out the Salute to Military, a full interactive military area featuring vehicles, camps and more!

Who can celebrate Canada without the thought of hockey?? Yep – we have a full street hockey tournament all weekend. Check the website to register your team. We even confirmed the Abbotsford Police vs Langley RCMP for Friday at 4:30 pm. Don’t wait, your team can still enter.

The evenings just get better– not sure how you will be able to watch all the main stage entertainment and the motorsport’s entertainment. Main stage Friday showcases multicultural acts, Saturday is a salute to Canadian Rock with Jerry Doucette and Sunday is our Christian concert with Kutless. The Motor Sports Arena features more crash and bash and the Global FMX bike superstars PLUS a Fire Breathing Dragon!

There is so much to do that you simply can’t not attend.

THE THUNDER ROLLS Tractor parade, Strathcona Mounted Troop and Barrel Racing, who could ask for anything more?

Watch the Antique Tractor Club start the show with a tractor parade. It’s always unpredictable and rumour has it that a new pink tractor will be in the lineup! And there are always a few celebrity tractor drivers that cause a few glitches.

Following the parade we have the Strathcona Mounted Troop back for one year only as part of the Canada 150 celebrations.

It is surely a don’t miss performance.

Rounding out the evening is Barrel Racing sponsored by Richard Meyer Electric. “We are happy to support this event states,” Adrianne Meyer. “Agriculture sports are very important to both our history and our future.”

BRING YOUR BLANKET Part of the Agrifair Canada 150 celebrations includes a main stage feature on multiculturalism. “The main stage will be a highlight of this year’s Agrifair,” stated Brad Styba, Entertainment Co-ordinator. “We have more than seven acts gracing the stage on Friday evening, everything from Bhangra dancing to drum bands.

Canada is such a multicultural nation and Abbotsford itself is so culturally diverse, so how could we not dedicate a night to these performances?”

And as if Friday’s lineup isn’t entertainment enough, the Agrifair will go all-Canadian with a rock tribute with Canadian Jerry Doucette! Jerry is what a Canadian rock

legend should be. Who didn’t have “Mama Let That Boy Play Some Rock ’N Roll” blasting on their radio?

Returning favourite is Coalmont for an opener on Saturday night and Sunday will feature a Christian program with Leanna Crawford opening for event headliner KUTLESS. “We couldn’t bring this caliber of entertainment to our Sunday stage if it weren’t for our sponsor Columbia Cabinets,” states Styba.
