WELCOME TO ALL EXHIBITORS! have a fair that will entice people to plan their vacation with us! New events are planned and returning favourites are scheduled. We can’t wait to celebrate! Thank you for celebrating with us. We encourage you to promote your participation on all your social media outlets and website.
ERNIE SILVERI President, Abbotsford Agrifair
On behalf of the Abbotsford Agrifair Board of Directors and staff, it is my pleasure to welcome you to “the best little country fair on earth!” This year we are excited to be celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday – it’s great to be Canadian, eh! Agrifair is Abbotsford’s very own community fair with over 30,000 attendees over the three days. 2016 was a huge success with increased attendance, a far-reaching buzz and beautiful weather. 2017 will see us build on that success and with your participation we will
As always, you will find fun interactive programs promoting our farming/agriculture industry and our local livestock and 4-H clubs. Educating the importance of agriculture in our community is a top priority for the board of directors. We are expanding our “gate to plate” program which is an “on-site agri-tour.” The tour takes guests to different 4-H clubs so they can explain the importance of their livestock to the ag-industry. This year we are adding berry farm components. Some of the 2017 attractions include: The Laughing Loggers, a new logger sports show (laughinglogger.com) that includes an all-day family interactive area as well as three performance shows daily, Dan the One Man Band is back and ready to celebrate as “Can Dan”, Strathcona Mounted Troop is returning for this year
only, Global FMX Bike Show is returning with a twist, wrestling will be bringing some Canadian talent, and Richard’s Racing Pigs & Ducks are back. New attractions include a 30-foot fire-breathing dragon in the Motor Sports Arena, a salute to our multicultural community on our main stage on Friday and a tribute to Canadian music on Saturday. As well, to help celebrate what it means to be Canadian there will be street hockey all weekend long, open to the public of all ages with planned tournaments featuring special teams! We look forward to seeing some 4-H teams signing up, maybe Leaders vs Members? Visit agrifair.ca to see what we have planned, and check back often to follow our updates. Abbotsford Agrifair is a not-forprofit; registered charity operated by a volunteer board of directors working with office staff. The board extends a big thank you to the City of Abbotsford for its strong and continuous support, the Province of British Columbia, our sponsors and volunteers, and, of course, all of you who attend the fair. We look forward to celebrating our 107th fair with you!

MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR On behalf of Abbotsford City Council, I’m pleased to welcome you to the 2017 Abbotsford Agrifair.
MAYOR HENRY BRAUN City of Abbotsford
Agrifair has a rich tradition in Abbotsford, providing family fun to thousands in our community and those that come from afar. With interactive demonstrations, displays, competitions, rides and great entertainment, there is something for everyone to enjoy! And with this year’s celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, Agrifair is sure to have an extra sense of excitement!
Agrifair also provides our community with an excellent opportunity to showcase the agricultural heritage of Abbotsford. With the richest and most productive agricultural land in Canada located just outside of our city’s urban core, our community is certainly a hub for agriculture and agri-business. I’m very proud of this rich legacy, and also excited to support our entrepreneurial, innovative agricultural community moving us into the future. Along with extending a welcome to all fair-goers, I’d like to thank each exhibitor, participant, sponsor and volunteer for making Agrifair a success. Agrifair has been building summer memories for 107 years — so I’m certain you won’t want to miss the excitement at Agrifair 2017. With different events and shows every day, it’s definitely going to be a summer event to remember. See you at Agrifair!

IT’S GREAT TO BE CANADIAN, EH?! With less than 7 days to gate open the Agrifair is well underway to being the MUST SEE event of the summer! There is so much for families to see and do that parents should be buying the three day wristband at just $15.00 as ages 10 and under are FREE. Included with gate admission is EVERYTHING except the midway and food. However the midway is offering a super special price break on Friday from Noon to 3pm, TOONIE day, each ride will be a toonie. This is the greatest deal – an all day ride band is normally $35 for one day, so come Friday for the best deal you could ever imagine. And if you feel like a pancake breakfast the SANDMAN on Simon Street is having a FREE pancake breakfast Friday Aug 4 from 9am to noon to kick off the fair. The Fraserway Family FunZone Building will include Lego play times and competitions, free activities including rockwall climbing, mini golf, Science World shows and a variety of characters including Elsa & Anna, the Mad Hatter and more. Don’t forget to use the family room with free diapers and wipes for your little ones. PLUS we have returning favourite vendors and some very cool new ones. Agriland and the 4-H area is always a hit for anyone who wants to learn more about our agricultural programming. We have a ton of animals and interactive areas, including
an agri-tour featuring Berry Councils, time with 4-H clubs and a special photo opportunity; you don’t want to miss this. Part of the Canada 150 celebration includes FREE birthday cake on Saturday at noon. Have your cake and then check out the Salute to Military, a full interactive military area featuring vehicles, camps and more! Who can celebrate Canada without the thought of hockey?? Yep – we have a full street hockey tournament all weekend. Check the website to register your team. We even confirmed the Abbotsford Police vs Langley RCMP for Friday at 4:30 pm. Don’t wait, your team can still enter. The evenings just get better– not sure how you will be able to watch all the main stage entertainment and the motorsport’s entertainment. Main stage Friday showcases multicultural acts, Saturday is a salute to Canadian Rock with Jerry Doucette and Sunday is our Christian concert with Kutless. The Motor Sports Arena features more crash and bash and the Global FMX bike superstars PLUS a Fire Breathing Dragon! There is so much to do that you simply can’t not attend. Agrifair is still looking for volunteers and sponsors. Email Melanie at agrifair@telus.net for information.

Many guests have said their children and grandchildren “love the pigs and ducks.” And let’s face it – it is NEVER the same show twice! Buffalo Bill loves those little pigs and ducks as if they were his own children, and they love him. So why wouldn’t we invite them back? Enjoy the show!!!
PLANES, TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES Agrifair has it all, including a restored World War II plane in the Salute to Canadian Military exhibit. We have military automobiles that include jeeps, 8 tracks and more. And we even have a train! Thanks to the Rotary Club of Chilliwack Fraser you can ride a train from the upper level of the grounds to the lower level of the grounds. We do ask that you hang on for a wild ride, “we like to have fun on our train,” says the conductor! It’s safe, fun and convenient! A small donation for the ride will be greatly accepted.

THE THUNDER ROLLS Tractor parade, Strathcona Mounted Troop and Barrel Racing, who could ask for anything more? Watch the Antique Tractor Club start the show with a tractor parade. It’s always unpredictable and rumour has it that a new pink tractor will be in the lineup! And there are always a few celebrity tractor drivers that cause a few glitches. Following the parade we have the Strathcona Mounted Troop back for one year only as part of the Canada 150 celebrations. It is surely a don’t miss performance. Rounding out the evening is Barrel Racing sponsored by Richard Meyer Electric. “We are happy to support this event states,” Adrianne Meyer. “Agriculture sports are very important to both our history and our future.”

BRING YOUR BLANKET Part of the Agrifair Canada 150 celebrations includes a main stage feature on multiculturalism. “The main stage will be a highlight of this year’s Agrifair,” stated Brad Styba, Entertainment Co-ordinator. “We have more than seven acts gracing the stage on Friday evening, everything from Bhangra dancing to drum bands. Canada is such a multicultural nation and Abbotsford itself is so culturally diverse, so how could we not dedicate a night to these performances?” And as if Friday’s lineup isn’t entertainment enough, the Agrifair will go all-Canadian with a rock tribute with Canadian Jerry Doucette! Jerry is what a Canadian rock
legend should be. Who didn’t have “Mama Let That Boy Play Some Rock ’N Roll” blasting on their radio? Returning favourite is Coalmont for an opener on Saturday night and Sunday will feature a Christian program with Leanna Crawford opening for event headliner KUTLESS. “We couldn’t bring this caliber of entertainment to our Sunday stage if it weren’t for our sponsor Columbia Cabinets,” states Styba. Columbia Cabinets has a moto of “reaching the world and our community” and this is the night Columbia can shine on the Agrifair stage and in the community.

WHAT’S NEW?
Check out the Laughing Logger interactive show! “When I first saw the show on YouTube, I was shocked, then I laughed out loud,” stated Fair Manager, Melanie Kish. These guys trained with the original owner of the West Coast Logger Show and then went “down under” for awhile. Now they are in Canada performing a great show. And they have an interactive area where you can put your inner-lumberjack to the test!
HELLO ANNA AND ELSA
For all your insurance needs.
I see you have brought some friends! The Fraserway RV Family FunZone has kicked it up a notch. This year we are pleased to include Anna & Elsa, the Mad Hatter, Rapunzel and Spider Man in the free family venue. Watch the schedule and agrifair.ca for story times and autograph sessions.
Discover the Convenience of One Stop Shopping
As well, Agrifair has brought back Dan the One Man Band with his persona “Can Dan.” “Dan is amazing,” states President Silveri. ”He really knows how to entertain a crowd. One year he serenaded me in a crowd of people!” Gary Savard of That’s Magic is back too. Gary is a staple to the Fair – he wants to get into trouble and create a show everywhere he goes. Watch for him in the Logger Show competing against the Lumberjacks! And if that’s not enough – how about balloon twisters, tricycle riders and a 98 year old cartoon artist. Ernie Poignant has been volunteering at the Fair creating lasting art memories for longer than anyone else. “Why wouldn’t we bring Ernie back,” asks President Silveri? “How many 98 year olds still want to volunteer?” Of course we will give him space for as long as he offers. Saturday only from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Valley Medical Imaging has been operating in the Fraser Valley since 1958. We operate three fully accredited diagnostic medical imaging clinics in Abbotsford, Chilliwack, and Langley with a team of highly skilled, qualified and registered Radiologists, Sonographers, and Radiographers. All of our clinics feature complete digital technology, which reduces radiation exposure while providing the highest quality imaging. In addition, all clinics are linked electronically via PACS (Picture Archive and Communication System), allowing correlation of examinations performed at various locations. This system is integrated with the hospital PACS as well, allowing immediate access to prior digital studies.

SALUTE TO CANADA’S MILITARY
Congratulations to Abbotsford Agrifair 2017! A big ‘thank you’ to everyone who made it possible!
Agrifair is celebrating Canada’s 150th by saluting Canadian Military as well.
Jati Sidhu
Most of the time when the word military is used, it is not in a celebratory manner, but it should be. We are so proud of the men and women that have given so much for us, that it was only natural to give then an area to showcase what the military means to our country.
Member of Parliament Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon 613-992-1248 | jati.sidhu@parl.gc.ca | 604-814-5710 | facebook.com/jatisidhuMP
The Agrifair is giving you the opportunity to discover what our military is all about. There will be several vehicles and representation from several war-time periods on site. Take the time to chat with them and respect and observe what Canada really means. These men and women will teach you more than you could ever imagine.
