This year, the Food Bank is missing Stan Salikin, who passed away last summer and was such a big part of the Duck Race. “Stan is being missed big time,” said Dexter McArthur, who along with Barrie Cummins, is trying to fill Salikin’s shoes. “He did so much of the work.” Volunteers are carrying on as best they can. Kimberley City Council will not be granting any more business licenses for medical marijuana licenses, at least not any time soon. That was the decision Council came to this past Monday evening at their regular meeting, after a staff report was received. Prior to that, the proponent, who had recently had her re-application denied, requested an opportunity to have her legal counsel speak again,

As most are aware, the Royal LePage East Kootenay Reality Duck Race goes July 1. Dedicated Food Bank volunteers are out selling tickets and are about at the half way point in terms of sales. There will be 3500 ducks released into Mark Creek, and the goal is to have sold every ticket. If you don’t have yours yet, see one of the volunteers at various locations around town.
