On Thursday, Dec. 22, the Heid-Out Brewhouse and Restaurant launched a new brew — Hellroaring Scottish Ale. Surely the coolest name for a beer this side of the Loch Ness. Hellroaring — named after the nearby creek, and following the Heid-Out’s protocol of using local names and events for its products — is designed to be “moorish.” Scottish beers tend to be less hoppy than others, so this one is brewed with plenty of roasted malts, creating a creamy dark ale with notes of coffee and caramel. Hellroaring comes out of the tap to you at 6.8 ABV (alcohol by volume) and 30 IBUs (International Bitterness Units). A roomful for thirsty residents was on hand to greet Hellroaring’s arrival.
