THE MISSION of the Red Deer Food Bank Society is “To Provide Food Requirements For Those In Need In Red Deer And Immediate Area.”

The Red Deer Food Bank is a vital player in the community of “Helping Agencies”. The Food Bank participates with or supplies goods to thirty different agencies in Central Alberta. We cover an area of over 22,000 sq. km. Some of the agencies we assist are Child oriented groups, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, kid’s camps
ACKNOWLEDGING the disparity on the availability of resources among Canadians AND RECOGNIZING that while food banks will be needed in the foreseeable future, that they are only a temporary response for those living in poverty. AND BELIEVING in the principles outlined above.

The food bank’s total income is over 5 million dollars but less than 10% is in cash, almost all other donations are food. Unfortunately we cannot pay our utility bills with cans of soup nor can we fill our truck up with KD. Cash is a vital commodity. In the real world we need to pay our bills and for that we need cash. Donations whether cash or in kind (food stuff)
