The best tips and tricks Keeping track

Schedule alone time

Number your guest list and write the corresponding number on the back of each RSVP card. Then if guests don’t write their name on the card, you’ll still be able to figure out whose it is!

When organzing the timeline for your wedding day be sure to schedule in at least 10 minutes alone with your spouse, without the photographer or wedding party around, to take it all in and enjoy.

Grab a glue stick

Make-up trials

Save time (and your tongue!) during the invitation process by using a glue stick to seal envelopes.

Opt for your make-up trial to be on the same day as your engagement photos. That way you’ll be able to see how your make-up will look in the photos.

Budget for thank you gifts Be sure to set aside some cash for thank you gifts. The list of people you’ll need to thank will be more than you originally thought.

Bring flats By the end of the night your feet will thank you!

When to visit top honeymoon spots Jamaica With average temperatures in the 80s year-round, Jamaica makes for a great honeymoon destination. January through April see less rain than other times of the year, and keep in mind June through the end of December is hurricane season.

France Locals advise honeymooners visit in September when the climate is quite comfortable and tourism is minimal. Spring is another great time to visit France, especially for those people who want to spend plenty of time outdoors. 6 IMAGE MAGAZINE WEDDING EDITION 2016

Mexico

Our menu features freshly-made Naan bread, traditional curries, tikkas, creamy sauces, a variety of intense flavours, and many vegetarian dishes. Only the finest spices and ingredients are used with no artificial colours or MSG in our gluten-free curries and bread.

Areas of Mexico, such as Cancun and Cozumel, tend to stay warm all year long, but can be particularly hot in the summer. Couples might want to avoid vacationing in certain areas in March, as students visiting for spring break may compromise the romantic atmosphere honeymooners are hoping for.

Italy April through June and September through October are some of the best times to visit Italy. Venice tends to be misty and damp during the late fall and early spring. Southern Italy and Sicily, can get quite hot during the peak summer months.

How to be photogenic Tongue to teeth Press your tongue against the back of your upper teeth when smiling. This will prevent you from smiling too big or wide.

Avoid that double chin Be sure your eyes are level or below the camera lens, stand tall, hold your shoulders back and stick your chin out slightly.

Pose for the paparazzi To look slimmer in photos, pretend you’re a celeb on the red carpet. Put your hand on your hip, angle your body to the side and turn your head towards the camera.

Type A Photography

On even ground Ensure everyone is an even distance from the camera. This keeps people closer to the lens from looking bigger.

Do an arm lift Slightly lift your arms away from your body to ensure they don’t look flat in the photograph.

Happy HOUR

How much wine should we expect to serve?

Hosting a cocktail hour to start the party off right? Here are a few ideas to help make it a success! • Give your guests options, feature a few different cocktails for them to choose from. • Don’t forget to add little touches. Candlelight and simple floral arrangements can help glam up the space. • Stick with your wedding theme, such as a toasted smore martini for a rustic outdoor wedding or a margarita for a beach wedding. • Don’t forget the food! Have some appetizer trays circulating for guests to nibble on.

Typically two glasses per person for the first hour and one glass per person for each additional hour.

Average glasses per bottle

5 glasses of wine 5 oz. pour

8 glasses of champagne 4 oz. pour

16 mixed drinks 1.5 oz. pour

After

PARTY

Keep the celebration going after the reception comes to a close! After parties can be as simple or as eleborate as you choose, but regardless of the party style, having a plan in place will ensure things run smoothly.

What do you want? First, choose what kind of after party you want. Would you like to head to a local bar or continue the party at the same location as your reception? If choosing a public location, touchbase with the venue at least a week in advance to make sure there isn’t a private function happening and that they are staffed for a large group.

Plan a safe ride If your location isn’t within walking distance of your reception, be sure to provide a safe ride there and back for your guests.

The more the merrier Be sure everyone who was invited to the wedding feels welcome to attend the after party.

Consider the details Will there be an open bar or do people pay their own way?

Providing

Full-service Party and Tent Rentals All the necessities for your hall or garden wedding, corporate event, or backyard BBQ.

There is no wrong answer and will depend on your budget.

Will there be entertainment? The options are limitless. Karaoke bars, billiard halls and arcades are popular choices or simply set-up a few games or a poker table in a hotel suite.

Will you be providing late-night snacks? Food trucks, mashed potato bars or simply bags of popcorn will ensure your guests are well fed.

Will there be décor or a theme for the party? You don’t need to stick with your wedding theme. Feel free to explore a whole new look.

Will you wear your wedding dress? Rock your dress all night long if you wish to or have something a little more comfortable to slip into for the after party.

2860 Cruickshank Street 604.744.2223 confettipartyrentals.com 22 IMAGE MAGAZINE WEDDING EDITION 2016

Be sure to work out the details well in advance. Appoint someone to coordinate the after party and ensure everything is taken care of, so you don’t have to worry about it on your special day.

In bloom It is never too early to start researching wedding flowers. Look at different styles and colours, and keep of scrapbook of everything you like and don’t like. This will help your florist make suggestions that suit your style, budget and alternatives that will be in season. Below are a few hot trends that are worth considering.

Freshly-picked, organic bouquets Bouquets and décor trends are leaning towards the ‘freshly-picked from the garden’ look as opposed to perfectly sculpted balls and arrangements.

Baby’s Breath For 2016 you’ll see Baby’s Breath taking more of a centre-stage role. Large quantities of Baby’s Breath creates a lush, airy, feminine look that is hard to replicate with other flowers.

Dahlias These beautiful blooms come in every shape and colour imaginable, so you’ll be sure to find a variety that matches your wedding theme.

Succulents Succulents can add a refreshing twist to your floral arrangements. Not only is this an eco-friendly choice, succulents are available yearround and come in a variety of colours and shades.
