The negative pressure created in the nucleus pulposus allows compressed discs to be re-oxygenated, re-hydrated and renutrified as they draw in moisture and nutrients from surrounding body tissues as well as promote retraction of bulging or herniated discs. While results may vary, Dr. Guthy notes that many Spinal Decompression patients including post-surgical patients and those with long-term chronic pain, are soon able to resume normal activities.
