Kimberley RCMP busy with traffic violations CPL. CHRIS NE WEL Kimberley RCMP

As a result of alcohol a woman was arrested for assault and taken to jail, her partner ended up with a 90 day driving prohibition arising from the same incident. Shortly after midnight police were called to a Kimberley residence where two persons had engaged in an alcohol fueled dispute. A female was arrested for assault and transported to cells. A short time later an officer noted the other party driving. He knew from the incident the driver had been consuming alcohol and stopped the vehicle. A breath sample was obtained and the driver issued a 90 day driving prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days. A large number of complaints police receive are alcohol related, this is only one example. We ask that if you drink, you drink responsibly. This incident likely could have be avoided had the parties recognized the inherent effects of alcohol. Over the past week, Kimberley RCMP has dealt with a number of violators under the Motor Vehicle Act. On March 20, an officer checked a vehicle on Ross Street after noting

an expired insurance decal. The driver received a violation ticket for No Insurance and No Driver’s License. He was also served a Notice of Driving Prohibition for a three month period as a result of previous offences. On March 18, an officer stopped a vehicle for a minor defect on Rotary Drive in Kimberley. He checked on the driver and found he was prohibited from driving under the Motor Vehicle Act. His vehicle was impounded and he will be attending court in June to face charges of Driving While Prohibited. On March 15, an officer was conducting speed enforcement near Skookumchuck when he observed a vehicle traveling 123 km/hr in a 100 km zone. Upon checking the driver he found she was Suspended from Driving. Her vehicle was impounded for seven days, she received a violation ticket for speeding and will be attending court in May for driving while suspended. On March 12, at 4:20 am Kimberley RCMP was alerted to a number of vehicles on Wallinger Ave believed to be leaving a party. See RCMP Page 5 Police checked a

A Golden-based wildlife photographer whose vehicle got stuck out in the backcountry was found safe over the weekend thanks to some help from Cranbrook Air Search and Rescue. The photographer, who was reported missing by family to authorities late on Saturday, was found by a stroke of luck after being spotted near a remote area of Kinbasket Lake by a civilian helicopter pilot who was ferrying passengers from Donald to a backcountry lodge. The Cranbrook Air SAR was called in on Sunday morning and flew up to Golden in a four-seat Cessna 182 to assist with the search in conjunction
