Ski-mo race and Iron Legs at KAR C AROLYN GR ANT Bulletin Editor

There are a couple of upcoming events at Kimberley Alpine Resort that will really test your fitness and strength. First will be the first ever ski mountaineering race, sponsored by Boulder Hut, this Saturday at noon. This fun event involves participants starting in the Plaza and skinning up Boundary to Kootenay Haus. Participants will then transition to descend through the gates to the plaza. All AT -Gear, splitboards, tele-mark and snowshoes wel-

come. Helmets required and no cross-country skis allowed. Your $20 entry fee includes: burger and beverage and a draw ticket for prizes. Register at KAR the morning of the event. Mandatory safety meeting is at 11:30 a.m. Coming up on March 26 is the granddaddy of them all, the Bavarian Iron Legs. The Iron Legs annual competition is a long standing tradition at Kimberley Alpine Resort. This year it is being stepped up a notch from being a quadrathon to a pentathlon. In recent years the Iron Legs has included a ski/snowboard portion, a cross country loop, then a run down into

town and back up to the resort on bikes. This year you can add a climbing challenge at Spirit Rock Climbing Gym to a ski/snowboard portion, a cross country loop, then a run down into town and back up to the resort on bikes. Registration fee includes a burger and beverage, a draw ticket for a chance to win awesome prizes and a participation gift.
