A 71-year-old woman died Tuesday evening after her motorized wheelchair was struck by a pickup truck at the corner of Strickland Street and Second Avenue. The truck was driven by a 72-year-old woman from Whitehorse. Police have not yet determined the cause of the crash and say it’s too early to know if charges will be laid. Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor. Part of the southbound lane of Second Avenue remains closed to traffic until a collision expert completes work at the scene.
