President’s Message Wow!! Playdowns and the conclusion to the 2015/16 hockey season is upon us already! This hockey season has been a busy one.

Through much superb work, we have seen a lot of great accomplishments this season. Sadly, we also lost one our fine coaches this year. Derek Christianson was not only a father to Maverick and Dane, but a coach and mentor to them and many other hockey kids who were inspired and guided through their hockey experiences. Our thoughts and love continue to go out to Christine, Maverick and Dane.

As with every year, we must truly appreciate and thank all of the volunteers who make playing the game of hockey possible and affordable for all of our youth. Many of these individuals go far beyond basic volunteer commitments, and make a huge difference in the quality of the experience that our kids are privileged to be involved in! In all sincerity, a tremendous thanks to these people, you know who you are!!

The in-house hockey season started with an ice breaker tournament this season, which stirred up some great excitement! I had the pleasure of witnessing and refereeing some of these great games, as well as others throughout the year! Additionally, for our tournaments that we hosted throughout the season, we have heard nothing but positive comments. So a big congratulations to the organizers, coaches, parents, referees and players. Our rep teams have been successful once again this year. We are becoming accustomed to success in these programs thanks to talented and highly dedicated coaches and team staff. Furthermore, the effort and commitment that our players give to their hockey season is to be truly admired and commended!! Congratulations to you all!

Exciting work this year went into the formation and redevelopment of our Initiation and Novice programs. With generous, and helpful cooperation from the Total Ice team, together, we are providing one of the best hockey programs for this age group in the province! These kids look absolutely pumped every time I see them getting ready to jump on the ice! They sure seem to be having a super fun time! This is the future of hockey in Williams Lake, and it certainly looks exciting!

Moving forward, let’s continue to “ lead, develop, and promote positive lifelong hockey experiences”. Thanks again to everyone, and have an amazingly good time in your playdowns.
